Isaías 42
1 “Eis o meu servo, que eu sustento, meu escolhido, em quem minha alma se compraz: Coloquei meu Espírito sobre ele. Ele trará justiça para as nações.
Behold my servant, whom I will uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my spirit upon him, that he may bring forth justice to the nations.
2 Ele não vai gritar, nem levantar sua voz, nem fazer com que seja ouvida na rua.
He shall not cry, nor call out aloud, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 Ele não quebra uma cana machucada. Ele não apaga um pavio em combustão lenta. Ele trará justiça fielmente.
A cracked reed will he not break, and a dimly burning wick will he not quench: unto truth shall he bring forth justice.
4 Ele não falhará nem será desencorajado, até que ele tenha estabelecido a justiça na terra, e as ilhas esperam por sua lei”.
He shall not become fatigued and not be faint, till he have established justice on earth; and the isles shall wait for his law.
5 Deus Yahweh, aquele que criou os céus e os esticou, aquele que espalha a terra e o que dela sai, aquele que dá fôlego ao seu povo e espírito àqueles que nele caminham, diz:
Thus hath said God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and the things which come out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to those that walk thereon:
6 “Eu, Yahweh, o chamei com justiça. Vou segurar sua mão. Eu o manterei, e fazer um pacto para o povo, como uma luz para as nações,
I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will lay hold on thy hand, and will keep thee, and appoint thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nations;
7 para abrir os olhos cegos, para trazer os prisioneiros para fora da masmorra, e aqueles que se sentam na escuridão fora da prisão.
To open blind eyes, to bring out from the dungeon the prisoner, and out of the prison-house those that dwell in darkness.
8 “Eu sou Yahweh. Esse é o meu nome. Eu não darei minha glória a outro, nem meus elogios às imagens gravadas.
I am the Everlasting One, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to any other, nor my praise to graven images.
9 Veja, as coisas anteriores aconteceram e eu declaro coisas novas. Eu lhes falo sobre eles antes que venham à tona”.
The former things, behold, are come to pass; and new things do I announce; before they spring forth I let you hear of them.
10 Cante para Yahweh uma nova canção, e seus elogios desde o fim da terra, vocês que descem ao mar, e tudo o que aí está, as ilhas e seus habitantes.
Sing unto the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth; ye that go down to the sea, and all that filleth it; the isles, and their inhabitants.
11 Let o sertão e suas cidades levantam suas vozes, com as aldeias que Kedar habita. Deixe os habitantes de Sela cantarem. Deixe-os gritar do alto das montanhas!
Let resound with song the wilderness and its cities, the villages which Kedar inhabiteth: let the inhabitants of the rocks sing, let them shout forth from the top of the mountains.
12 Deixe-os dar glória a Javé, e declarar seus elogios nas ilhas.
Let them give glory unto the Lord, and in the islands declare his praise.
13 Yahweh sairá como um homem poderoso. Ele vai despertar o zelo como um homem de guerra. Ele vai levantar um grito de guerra. Sim, ele vai gritar em voz alta. Ele triunfará sobre seus inimigos.
The Lord—as a mighty one will he go forth, like a man of war will he arouse his vengeance: he will shout, yea, raise the war-cry; against his enemies will he show his strength.
14 “Tenho estado em silêncio há muito tempo. Tenho me mantido quieto e contido. Agora eu vou gritar como uma mulher que está de parto. Eu vou ofegar e ofegar.
I have a long time held my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: [now] like a travailing woman will I cry; I will destroy and devour [all] together.
15 Vou destruir montanhas e colinas, e secar todas as suas ervas. Vou fazer as ilhas fluviais, e secará as piscinas.
I will lay waste mountains and hills, and all their herbs will I dry up; and I will change the rivers into islands, and pools will I dry up.
16 Vou trazer os cegos de uma forma que eles não conhecem. Vou conduzi-los por caminhos que eles não conhecem. Eu farei das trevas luz diante deles, e lugares tortuosos em linha reta. Eu farei estas coisas, e eu não os abandonarei.
And I will cause the blind to walk on a way that they have not known; on paths that they have not known will I lead them: I will change darkness before them into light, and crooked places into plains. These are the things which I will do, and not leave them [unfulfilled].
17 “Aqueles que confiam nas imagens gravadas, que contam imagens derretidas, “Vocês são nossos deuses”. será devolvido. Eles ficarão totalmente desapontados.
They shall be turned back, they shall be ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to molten idols, Ye are our gods.
18 “Ouça, você é surdo, e olhe, você é cego, que você possa ver.
Ye deaf, hear; and ye blind, look up, that ye may see.
19 Quem é cego, mas meu criado? Ou quem é tão surdo quanto meu mensageiro que eu envio? Que é tão cego quanto aquele que está em paz, e tão cego quanto o criado de Yahweh?
Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger whom I send? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the servant of the Lord?
20 Você vê muitas coisas, mas não observa. Seus ouvidos estão abertos, mas ele não escuta.
Thou seest many things, but observest not; the ears are open, but he heareth not.
21 Agradou a Yahweh, por sua justiça, ampliar a lei e torná-lo honroso.
The Lord willed [to do this] for the sake of his righteousness; [therefore] he magnifieth the law, and maketh it honorable.
22 Mas este é um povo roubado e saqueado. Todos eles são enganchados em buracos, e eles estão escondidos em prisões. Eles se tornaram cativos, e ninguém entrega, e um saque, e ninguém diz: “Restaurem-nos”!
But it is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them ensnared in holes, and in prison-houses are they hidden: they are become for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
23 Quem dentre vocês vai dar ouvidos a isto? Quem escutará e ouvirá no momento certo?
Who among you will give ear to this? will hearken and listen, for the time to come?
24 Quem deu Jacob como saque, e Israel para os ladrões? Não foi Yahweh, aquele contra quem pecamos? Pois eles não se meteriam em seus caminhos, e desobedeceram a sua lei.
Who gave up Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to plunderers? was it not the Lord? he it is against whom we have sinned; for they would not walk in his ways, neither did they hearken unto his law.
25 Portanto, ele derramou sobre ele a ferocidade de sua raiva, e a força da batalha. Isso o pegou fogo por todos os lados, mas ele não sabia. Isso o queimou, mas ele não levou isso a sério”.
Therefore hath he poured out over him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it blazed all round about him, yet he regarded it not; and it burnt on him, yet he laid it not to heart.
