Isaías 37
1 Quando o rei Ezequias o ouviu, rasgou suas roupas, cobriu-se de pano de saco e entrou na casa de Iavé.
And it came to pass, when King Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, —and covered himself with sackcloth, and entered the house of Yahweh;
2 Ele enviou Eliakim, que estava sobre a casa, e Shebna, o escriba, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos com pano de saco, ao profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz.
and sent Eliakim who was over the household and Shebna the scribe and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, —unto Isaiah the prophet, Son of Amoz;
3 Disseram-lhe: “Hezekiah diz: 'Hoje é um dia de problemas, e de repreensão, e de rejeição; pois as crianças chegaram ao nascimento, e não há forças para dar à luz'.
and they said unto him, Thus, saith Hezekiah, A day of distress and rebuke and reviling, is this day, —For children are come to the birth, and, strength, is there none to bring forth.
4 Pode ser que Yahweh seu Deus ouça as palavras de Rabshakeh, que o rei da Assíria, seu mestre, enviou para desafiar o Deus vivo, e irá repreender as palavras que Yahweh seu Deus ouviu. Portanto, levantai vossa oração pelo remanescente que resta”.
It may be, that Yahweh thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh whom the king of Assyria his lord, hath sent to reproach a Living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh thy God hath heard, —Wherefore lift thou up a prayer, for the remnant that remaineth.
5 Então os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaías.
So the servants of King Hezekiah came unto Isaiah.
6 Isaías disse-lhes: “Dizei a vosso senhor: 'Javé diz: 'Não temais as palavras que ouvistes, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria me blasfemaram'.
And Isaiah said unto them, Thus, shall ye, surely say, unto your lord, —Thus, saith Yahweh—Be not thou afraid because of the words which thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled, Me.
7 Eis que colocarei nele um espírito e ele ouvirá notícias, e voltará para sua própria terra”. Fá-lo-ei cair pela espada em sua própria terra””.
Behold me! about to let go against him a blast of alarm, and when he heareth the report, then will he return to his own country, —and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
8 Então Rabshakeh voltou, e encontrou o rei da Assíria em guerra contra Libnah, pois soube que ele havia partido de Laquis.
So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria, warring against Libnah, —for he had heard, that he had broken up from Lachish.
9 Ele ouviu notícias a respeito de Tirhakah, rei da Etiópia, “Ele saiu para lutar contra você”. Quando ouviu, enviou mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:
And he heard it reported concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, saying, He hath come forth to fight with thee, —so when he heard it, he sent messengers unto Hezekiah, saying:
10 “Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: 'Não deixeis que vosso Deus em quem confiais vos engane, dizendo: “Jerusalém não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria”.
Thus, shall ye surely speak unto Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom, thou, art trusting, beguile thee, saying, —Jerusalem, shall not be given over, into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 Eis que vocês ouviram o que os reis da Assíria fizeram com todas as terras, destruindo-as completamente. Será que vocês serão entregues?
Lo! thou, thyself, hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands in devoting them to destruction, —and shalt, thou, be delivered?
12 Os deuses das nações os entregaram, que meus pais destruíram, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph e os filhos do Éden que estavam em Telassar?
Did the gods of the nations, deliver them, whom my fathers destroyed, —Gozan, and Haran, —and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who were in Telassar?
13 Onde está o rei de Hamath, e o rei de Arpad, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, de Hena, e Ivvah?'”.
Where are the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, —of Hena, and Ivvah?
14 Hezekiah recebeu a carta da mão dos mensageiros e a leu. Então Hezekiah foi até a casa de Yahweh e a espalhou antes de Yahweh.
And, when Hezekiah had received the letter at the hand of the messengers, and had read it, then went he up to the house of Yahweh, and Hezekiah spread it out, before Yahweh.
15 Ezequias orou a Javé, dizendo:
And Hezekiah prayed unto Yahweh saying:
16 “Javé dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, que é entronizado entre os querubins, vós sois o Deus, mesmo só vós, de todos os reinos da terra. Vocês fizeram o céu e a terra.
O Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel—inhabiting the cherubim, Thou thyself, art GOD, even thou alone, for all the kingdoms of the earth: Thou, didst make the heavens and the earth.
17 Vira teu ouvido, Yahweh, e ouve. Abre os olhos, Yahweh, e vê. Ouça todas as palavras de Sennacherib, que enviou para desafiar o Deus vivo.
Bow down, O Yahweh, thine ear—and hear, Open, O Yahweh, thine eyes—and see, —Yea hear thou all the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent—to reproach a Living God.
18 Verdadeiramente, Javé, os reis da Assíria destruíram todos os países e suas terras,
Of a truth, O Yahweh, —the kings of Assyria have devoted to destruction all the countries, and their land;
19 e lançaram seus deuses no fogo; pois não eram deuses, mas obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruíram.
and have put their gods in the fire, —for, no-gods, were they, but the work of the hands of men wood and stone and so they destroyed them.
20 Agora, portanto, Javé nosso Deus, salve-nos de sua mão, para que todos os reinos da terra saibam que você é Javé, até mesmo você somente”.
Now, therefore, O Yahweh our God, save us, out of his hand, —That all the kingdoms of the earth, may know, That, thou, art Yahweh, thou alone.
21 Então Isaías, filho de Amoz, enviou a Ezequias, dizendo: “Javé, o Deus de Israel diz: 'Porque me rezastes contra Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria,
Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah saying, —Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, In that thou hast prayed unto me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,
22 esta é a palavra que Javé falou a seu respeito: A filha virgem de Sião o desprezou e o ridicularizou. A filha de Jerusalém sacudiu sua cabeça para você.
this, is the word which Yahweh hath spoken concerning him, —The virgin daughter of Zion, laugheth thee to scorn—mocketh thee, The daughter of Jerusalem after thee doth wag her head,
23 A quem você desafiou e blasfemou? Contra quem você exaltou sua voz e ergueu os olhos para o alto? Contra o Santo de Israel.
Whom, hast thou reproached and insulted? And, against whom, hast thou lifted high thy voice? Yea thou hast proudly raised thine eyes, against the Holy One of Israel.
24 Por seus servos, você desafiou o Senhor e disse: “Com a multidão de minhas carruagens subi ao cume das montanhas, às partes mais íntimas do Líbano. Cortarei seus altos cedros e seus ciprestes escolhidos”. Entrarei em sua altura mais longínqua, a floresta de seu campo fértil.
Through thy servants, thou hast reproached My Lord and hast said, —With my multitude of chariots, have I ascended The height of the mountains The recesses of Lebanon, That I may cut down Its tallest cedars Its choicest firs, That I may enter Its highest summit, Its thick garden forest:
25 Eu cavei e bebi água, e com a planta dos meus pés vou secar todos os rios do Egito”.
I, have digged, and drunk waters, —That I may dry up, with the soles of my feet, all the Nile-streams of Egypt.
26 “'Você não sabe como eu o fiz há muito tempo, e o formei nos tempos antigos? Agora eu a fiz passar, que deveria ser sua para destruir cidades fortificadas, transformando-as em montões em ruínas.
Hast thou not heard—That, long ago, that, is what I appointed, And from days of old, devised? Now, have I brought it to pass, That thou mightest Serve to lay waste, in desolate ruins, fortified cities;
27 Portanto, seus habitantes tinham pouco poder. Ficaram consternados e confundidos. Eram como a erva do campo, e como a erva verde, como a erva no topo da casa, e como um campo antes de sua colheita ter crescido.
And their inhabitants, being powerless, were overthrown and put to shame—They became—Grass of the field and Young herbage, Grass on housetops, and Seed parched before it came up.
28 Mas eu sei que vocês se sentam, saem, entram e se enfurecem contra mim.
Howbeit, thine abode and thy coming out and thy going in, I know, —and thy raging against me.
29 Por causa de sua raiva contra mim, e porque sua arrogância subiu em meus ouvidos, por isso colocarei meu gancho em seu nariz e meu freio em seus lábios, e o farei voltar pelo caminho pelo qual você veio.
Because, thy raging against me, and thy contempt, have come up into mine ears, Therefore will I put My ring in thy nose, and My bit in thy lips, And will turn thee back, by the way by which thou camest.
30 “'Este será o sinal para você: Você comerá este ano o que cresce de si mesmo, e no segundo ano o que brota dele; e no terceiro ano semear e colher e plantar vinhedos, e comer seus frutos.
And, this unto thee, is the sign, Eating this year, the growth of scattered seeds, And in the second year, that which shooteth up of itself, —Then in the third year, Sow ye—and reap, and Plant ye vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
31 O remanescente que escapou da casa de Judá voltará a criar raízes para baixo, e dará frutos para cima.
Then shall the escaped of the house of Judah that remain, again, Take root downward, —And bear fruit upward.
32 Pois de Jerusalém sairá um remanescente, e os sobreviventes escaparão do Monte Sião. O zelo de Javé dos Exércitos fará isso”.
For, out of Jerusalem, shall come forth a remnant, And that which hath escaped, out of Mount Zion, —the jealousy of Yahweh of hosts, will perform, this.
33 “Portanto Yahweh diz a respeito do rei da Assíria: “Ele não virá a esta cidade, nem atirará uma flecha lá, nem virá diante dela com escudo, nem levantará um monte contra ela”.
Therefore, thus, saith Yahweh, concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not enter this city, Nor shoot there, an arrow, —Nor attack it with shield, Nor cast up against it a mound:
34 Ele retornará pelo caminho que veio, e não virá a esta cidade”, diz Yahweh.
By the way that he Came in, By the Same, shall he return, —And into this city, shall he not enter, Declareth Yahweh.
35 'Pois eu defenderei esta cidade para salvá-la, para meu próprio bem e para o bem do meu servo David'”.
Thus will I throw a covering over this city to save it, —For mine own sake, And for the sake of David my servant.
36 Então o anjo de Yahweh saiu e atingiu cento e oitenta e cinco mil homens no acampamento dos assírios. Quando os homens se levantaram cedo pela manhã, eis que eram todos cadáveres.
Then went forth the messenger of Yahweh, and smote—in the camp of the Assyrians—a hundred and eighty-five thousand, —and when men arose early in the morning, lo! they were all, dead bodies!
37 Então Sennacherib, rei da Assíria, partiu, foi embora, voltou para Nínive e ficou lá.
So Sennacherib the king of Assyria brake up, and went his way, and returned, —and remained in Nineveh.
38 Quando ele estava adorando na casa de Nisroch seu deus, Adrammelech e Sharezer seus filhos o golpearam com a espada; e eles escaparam para a terra de Ararat. Esar Haddon, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
And it came to pass, as he was bowing down in the house of Nisroch his god, that, Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons, smote him with the sword, howbeit, they, escaped into the land of Ararat, —and, Esarhaddon his son, reigned, in his stead.
