Gênesis 12
1 Now Yahweh disse a Abram: “Deixe seu país, e seus parentes, e a casa de seu pai, e vá para a terra que eu lhe mostrarei”.
And Yahweh said unto Abram: Come thou on thy way, Out of thy land and out of the place of thy birth and out of the house of thy father, —Unto the land that I will show thee;
2 Vou fazer de vocês uma grande nação. Eu o abençoarei e farei de seu nome uma grande nação”. Vocês serão uma bênção.
That I may make thee into a great nation, And bless thee and make great thy name, And become thou a blessing;
3 Abençoarei aqueles que te abençoarem e amaldiçoarei aquele que te tratar com desprezo. Todas as famílias da terra serão abençoadas através de vocês”.
That I may bless them who bless thee, But him who maketh light of thee, will I curse, —So shall be, blessed in thee, all the families of the ground.
4 Então Abram foi, como Yahweh lhe havia dito. Muita coisa foi com ele. Abram tinha setenta e cinco anos de idade quando partiu de Haran.
And Abram came on his way, according to that which Yahweh had spoken unto him, and Lot came with him, —now, Abram, was seventy-five years old, when he came forth out of Haran.
5 Abram levou para a terra de Canaã Sarai sua esposa, o filho de Lot seu irmão, todos os seus bens que haviam reunido, e as pessoas que haviam adquirido em Harã, e eles foram para a terra de Canaã. Eles entraram na terra de Canaã.
And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, with all the goods that they had gathered and the souls that they had gained in Haran, —and they came forth to go towards the land of Canaan, and came in to the land of Canaan.
6 Abram passou pela terra até o lugar de Shechem, até o carvalho de Moreh. Naquela época, os cananeus estavam na terra.
And Abram passed along throughout the land, as far as the place of Shechem as far as the Teacher’s Terebinth, the Canaanite being then in the land.
7 Yahweh apareceu a Abram e disse: “Darei esta terra aos seus descendentes”. Ele construiu ali um altar para Yahweh, que lhe aparecera.
And Yahweh appeared unto Abram, and said: To thy seed, will I give this land, —And he built there an altar, unto Yahweh who appeared unto him.
8 Ele partiu dali para ir para a montanha ao leste de Betel e armou sua tenda, tendo Betel ao oeste, e Ai ao leste. Lá ele construiu um altar para Iavé e invocou o nome de Iavé.
And he moved on from thence towards the hill country, on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, —with Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east, and built there an altar to Yahweh, and called on the name of Yahweh.
9 Abram viajou, continuando em direção ao Sul.
Thus Abram brake up, again and again, towards the South.
10 Havia uma fome na terra. Abram foi para o Egito para viver como estrangeiro lá, pois a fome era severa na terra.
And it came to pass that there was a famine, in the land, —so Abram went down towards Egypt, to sojourn there, because grievous, was the famine in the land.
11 Quando chegou perto de entrar no Egito, disse a Sarai sua esposa: “Veja agora, eu sei que você é uma bela mulher para se olhar.
And it came to pass when he had come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife: Behold! I beseech thee I know that a woman fair to look on, thou art:
12 Acontecerá que quando os egípcios o virem, dirão: “Esta é sua esposa”. Eles vão me matar, mas vão te salvar vivo.
so will it come to pass when the Egyptians behold thee, that they will say, His wife, this! and will slay me while thee, they preserve alive.
13 Por favor, diga que você é minha irmã, que pode estar bem comigo por você, e que minha alma pode viver por sua causa”.
Say, I beseech thee that my sister, art thou, —to the end it may be well with me for thy sake, so shall my soul be preserved alive because of thee.
14 Quando Abram chegou ao Egito, os egípcios viram que a mulher era muito bonita.
And so it was when Abram entered into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman, that fair, was she exceedingly.
15 Os príncipes do faraó a viram e a elogiaram ao faraó; e a mulher foi levada para a casa do faraó.
And the princes of Pharaoh beheld her, and praised her unto Pharaoh, —so the woman was taken to the house of Pharaoh;
16 Ele lidou bem com Abrão por causa dela. Ele tinha ovelhas, gado, burros machos, servos machos, servas, burros fêmeas e camelos.
and with Abram, dealt he well for her sake, —so that he came to have flocks and herds and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses and camels.
17 Yahweh afligiu o faraó e sua casa com grandes pragas por causa de Sarai, a esposa de Abram.
And Yahweh plagued Pharaoh with great plagues, also his house, —for the matter of Sarai, wife of Abram.
18 O Faraó chamou Abram e disse: “O que é isso que você fez comigo? Por que você não me disse que ela era sua esposa?
And Pharaoh called out to Abram, and said, What is this thou hast done to me? Wherefore didst thou not tell me, that she was, thy wife?
19 Por que você disse: “Ela é minha irmã”, para que eu a aceitasse como minha esposa? Agora, portanto, veja sua esposa, leve-a, e siga seu caminho”.
Wherefore saidst thou My sister, she; and so I was about to take her to me, to wife? But now, lo! thy wife take her and go thy way.
20 O Faraó comandou homens a seu respeito, e eles o acompanharam com sua esposa e tudo o que ele tinha.
And Pharaoh gave command concerning him unto certain men, —and sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.
