Esdras 5
1 Now os profetas, Haggai o profeta e Zacarias o filho de Iddo, profetizaram aos judeus que estavam em Judá e Jerusalém. Eles profetizaram a eles em nome do Deus de Israel.
Then prophesied Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of 'Iddo, the prophets, unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, concerning them.
2 Então Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e Jesuá, filho de Jozadaque, se levantaram e começaram a construir a casa de Deus que está em Jerusalém; e com eles estavam os profetas de Deus, ajudando-os.
Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, and Jeshua' the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
3 At ao mesmo tempo que Tattenai, o governador além do rio, veio até eles, com Shetharbozenai e seus companheiros, e lhes perguntou: “Quem lhe deu um decreto para construir esta casa e terminar esta parede?
At this same time came to them Thathnai, the governor on this side of the river, and Shethar-bozenai, and their companions, and thus they said unto them, “Who hath given you an order to build this house, and to complete these walls?”
4 Eles também perguntaram os nomes dos homens que estavam fazendo esta construção.
Then said we unto them after this manner, what are the names of the men that erect this building.
5 Mas o olho de seu Deus estava sobre os anciãos dos judeus, e eles não os fizeram cessar até que o assunto chegasse a Dario, e uma resposta deveria ser devolvida por carta a respeito.
But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, so that they did not stop them, till the matter came to Darius; and they then returned an answer by letter concerning this.
6 A cópia da carta que Tattenai, o governador além do rio, e Shetharbozenai, e seus companheiros, os afarsacitas que estavam além do rio, enviaram a Dario o rei segue.
A copy of the letter which Thathnai, the governor on this side of the river, and Shethar-bozenai, and his companions, the Apharsachites, who were on this side of the river, sent unto king Darius.
7 They enviou uma carta a ele, na qual foi escrita: Para Dario, o rei, toda a paz.
They sent a report unto him, and thus was it written therein: Unto king Darius be all peace.
8 Seja conhecido do rei que entramos na província de Judá, na casa do grande Deus, que está sendo construída com grandes pedras e madeira é colocada nas paredes. Este trabalho continua com diligência e prospera em suas mãos.
Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which they are building with heavy stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work is urged with speed, and it prospereth in their hands.
9 Então perguntamos àqueles anciãos, e lhes dissemos assim: “Quem lhes deu um decreto para construir esta casa, e para terminar esta parede?
Then asked we these elders, and after this manner said we unto them, Who hath given you the order to build this house, and to complete these walls?
10 Pedimos-lhes também seus nomes, para informá-los de que poderíamos escrever os nomes dos homens que estavam à sua frente.
Also their names did we ask of them, to let thee know them, that we might write down the names of the men that are at their head.
11 Assim eles nos responderam, dizendo: “Nós somos os servos do Deus do céu e da terra e estamos construindo a casa que foi construída há muitos anos atrás, que um grande rei de Israel construiu e terminou.
And in this manner did they return us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we build the house that was built before this many years, and a great king of Israel built and completed it.
12 Mas depois que nossos pais provocaram à ira o Deus do céu, ele os entregou na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, o caldeu, que destruiu esta casa e levou o povo para a Babilônia.
But since our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them up into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, and he destroyed this house, and carried the people as exiles into Babylon.
13 Mas, no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei da Babilônia, o rei Ciro fez um decreto para construir esta casa de Deus.
However, in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon, king Cyrus gave an order to build this house of God.
14 Os vasos de ouro e prata da casa de Deus, que Nabucodonosor tirou do templo que estava em Jerusalém e trouxe para o templo da Babilônia, aqueles Ciro, o rei, também tirou do templo da Babilônia, e foram entregues a um cujo nome era Sesbazar, a quem ele havia nomeado governador.
And also the vessels of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, these did king Cyrus take out of the temple of Babylon, and gave them unto one, Sheshbazzar by name, whom he had appointed as governor;
15 Ele lhe disse: 'Pegue estes vasos, vá, coloque-os no templo que está em Jerusalém e deixe que a casa de Deus seja construída em seu lugar'.
And he said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple which is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built on its site.
16 Então veio o mesmo Sesbazar e lançou as fundações da casa de Deus que está em Jerusalém. Desde aquela época até agora, ela tem sido construída, e ainda não está concluída. '
Then came this same Sheshbazzar, [and] laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and from that time even until now they have been building it, but it is not yet finished.
17 Agora, portanto, se parece bom para o rei, que seja feita uma busca na casa do tesouro do rei, que está lá na Babilônia, se é para que um decreto foi feito pelo rei Ciro para construir esta casa de Deus em Jerusalém; e que o rei nos envie seu prazer a respeito deste assunto”. '
And now, if it seem good to the king, let search be made in the king's treasure-house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that an order was given by king Cyrus to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send to us his pleasure concerning this matter.
