Esdras 3
1 Quando chegou o sétimo mês, e os filhos de Israel estavam nas cidades, o povo se reuniu como um só homem em Jerusalém.
By the seventh month, the Israelites had settled in their towns, and the people assembled as one man in Jerusalem.
2 Então Jesué, filho de Jozadaque, levantou-se com seus irmãos sacerdotes e Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel e seus parentes, e construiu o altar do Deus de Israel, para oferecer holocaustos sobre ele, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, o homem de Deus.
Then Jeshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests, along with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates, began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
3 Apesar do medo deles por causa dos povos das terras vizinhas, eles colocaram o altar em sua base; e ofereceram holocaustos sobre ele a Javé, até mesmo holocaustos de manhã e à noite.
They set up the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD—both the morning and evening burnt offerings—even though they feared the people of the land.
4 Eles mantiveram a festa das cabanas, como está escrito, e ofereceram as ofertas queimadas diárias por número, de acordo com a ordenança, como o dever de cada dia exigido;
They also celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles in accordance with what is written, and they offered burnt offerings daily based on the number prescribed for each day.
5 e depois as ofertas queimadas contínuas, as ofertas das luas novas, de todas as festas estabelecidas de Iavé que foram consagradas, e de todos que voluntariamente ofereceram uma oferta de livre vontade a Iavé.
After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings and those for New Moons and for all the appointed sacred feasts of the LORD, as well as all the freewill offerings brought to the LORD.
6 Desde o primeiro dia do sétimo mês, eles começaram a oferecer holocaustos a Javé; mas a fundação do templo de Javé ainda não foi lançada.
On the first day of the seventh month, the Israelites began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, although the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.
7 Eles também deram dinheiro para os pedreiros e para os carpinteiros. Eles também deram comida, bebida e óleo ao povo de Sidon e Tyre para trazer cedros do Líbano para o mar, para Joppa, de acordo com a doação que eles tinham de Cyrus King of Persia.
They gave money to the masons and carpenters, and food and drink and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre to bring cedar logs from Lebanon to Joppa by sea, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia.
8 Agora, no segundo ano de sua vinda à casa de Deus em Jerusalém, no segundo mês, Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, Jesuá, filho de Jozadaque, e o resto de seus irmãos, os sacerdotes e os levitas, e todos aqueles que haviam saído do cativeiro para Jerusalém, iniciaram o trabalho e nomearam os levitas, a partir dos vinte anos de idade, para terem a supervisão do trabalho da casa de Yahweh.
In the second month of the second year after they had arrived at the house of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the rest of their associates including the priests, the Levites, and all who had returned to Jerusalem from the captivity, began the work. They appointed Levites twenty years of age or older to supervise the construction of the house of the LORD.
9 Então Jeshua ficou com seus filhos e seus irmãos, Kadmiel e seus filhos, os filhos de Judá, juntos para ter a supervisão dos trabalhadores na casa de Deus: os filhos de Henadade, com seus filhos e seus irmãos, os levitas.
So Jeshua and his sons and brothers, Kadmiel and his sons (descendants of Yehudah), and the sons of Henadad and their sons and brothers—all Levites—joined together to supervise those working on the house of God.
10 Quando os construtores lançaram a fundação do templo de Iavé, colocaram os sacerdotes em suas vestes com trombetas, com os levitas os filhos de Asafe com címbalos, para louvar a Iavé, de acordo com as instruções de Davi, rei de Israel.
When the builders had laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their positions to praise the LORD, as David king of Israel had prescribed.
11 Eles cantaram uns para os outros louvando e dando graças a Javé, “Pois ele é bom, pois sua bondade amorosa permanece para sempre para com Israel”. Todo o povo gritou com um grande grito, quando elogiaram Iavé, porque a fundação da casa de Iavé tinha sido lançada.
And they sang responsively with praise and thanksgiving to the LORD: “For He is good; for His loving devotion to Israel endures forever.” Then all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD had been laid.
12 Mas muitos dos sacerdotes e levitas e chefes de família dos pais, os velhos que tinham visto a primeira casa, quando a fundação desta casa foi colocada diante de seus olhos, choraram com uma voz alta. Muitos também gritaram em voz alta de alegria,
But many of the older priests, Levites, and family heads who had seen the first temple wept loudly when they saw the foundation of this temple. Still, many others shouted joyfully.
13 para que o povo não pudesse discernir o barulho do grito de alegria do barulho do choro do povo; pois o povo gritou com um grito alto, e o barulho foi ouvido longe.
The people could not distinguish the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people were making so much noise. And the sound was heard from afar.
