Deuteronômio 6
1 Estes são os mandamentos, os estatutos e as ordenanças que Javé, teu Deus, mandou ensinar-te, para que os cumprisses na terra que vais possuir;
And this is the commandment, with the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord your God hath commanded to teach you, to do them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it:
2 para que temesses a Javé, teu Deus, para guardares todos os seus estatutos e mandamentos, que eu te ordeno - tu, teu filho, e o filho de teu filho, todos os dias de tua vida; e para que teus dias possam ser prolongados.
In order that you mayest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and in order that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Ouvi, portanto, Israel, e observai fazê-lo, para que esteja bem convosco, e para que possais aumentar poderosamente, como Javé, o Deus de vossos pais, vos prometeu, em uma terra que flui com leite e mel.
Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do them; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken to thee, [in] the land flowing with milk and honey.
4 Hear, Israel: Yahweh é nosso Deus. Yahweh é um só.
Hear, O Israel! The Lord, our God, is the One Eternal Being.
5 Amarás a Javé teu Deus de todo o teu coração, de toda a tua alma e de todas as tuas forças.
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 Estas palavras, que hoje vos ordeno, estarão em vosso coração;
And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart:
7 e as ensinareis diligentemente aos vossos filhos, e falareis deles quando vos sentardes em vossa casa, e quando andardes pelo caminho, e quando vos deitardes, e quando vos levantardes.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt speak of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 Você os amarrará por um sinal em sua mão, e eles serão para a frente entre seus olhos.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes.
9 Você os escreverá nos postes das portas de sua casa e em seus portões.
And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.
10 Será, quando Javé teu Deus te levar à terra que jurou a teus pais, a Abraão, a Isaac e a Jacó, para te dar, grandes e boas cidades que não construíste,
And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land which he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give unto thee, great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build,
11 e casas cheias de todas as coisas boas que não encheste, e cisternas escavadas que não cavaste, vinhedos e oliveiras que não plantaste, e comerás e estarás cheio;
And houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and wells hewed out which thou didst not hew, vineyards and olive-trees, which thou didst not plant; and thou hast eaten and art satisfied:
12 então tome cuidado para não esquecer Yahweh, que o tirou da terra do Egito, da casa da servidão.
Then beware that thou do not forget the Lord, who hath brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
13 Temerás a Javé teu Deus; e o servirás, e jurarás pelo seu nome.
The Lord thy God shalt thou fear, and him shalt thou serve, and by his name shalt thou swear.
14 Não ireis atrás de outros deuses, dos deuses dos povos que estão ao vosso redor,
Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the nations which are round about you;
15 pois Javé vosso Deus entre vós é um Deus ciumento, para que a ira de Javé vosso Deus não se acenda contra vós, e ele vos destrua de sobre a face da terra.
For the Lord thy God is a watchful God among you: so that the anger of the Lord thy God may not be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16 Você não tentará a Javé, seu Deus, como o tentou em Massah.
Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
17 Guardareis diligentemente os mandamentos de Javé, vosso Deus, e seus testemunhos, e seus estatutos, que ele vos ordenou.
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
18 Você fará o que é certo e bom aos olhos de Iavé, para que esteja bem consigo e para que você possa entrar e possuir a boa terra que Iavé jurou a seus pais,
And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the eyes of the Lord; in order that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and take possession of the good land which the Lord hath sworn unto thy fathers,
19 para expulsar todos os seus inimigos de diante de você, como Iavé falou.
To cast out all thy enemies from before thee; as the Lord hath spoken.
20 Quando seu filho lhe pergunta a seu tempo, dizendo: “O que significam os testemunhos, os estatutos e as ordenanças, que Javé nosso Deus lhe ordenou”?
When thy son should ask thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?
21 então você dirá a seu filho: “Éramos escravos do Faraó no Egito”. Javé nos tirou do Egito com uma mão poderosa;
Then shalt thou say unto thy son, We were bondmen unto Pharaoh in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;
22 e Javé mostrou grandes e incríveis sinais e maravilhas sobre o Egito, sobre o Faraó e sobre toda sua casa, diante de nossos olhos;
And the Lord let come signs and wonders, great and sore, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household, before our eyes;
23 e ele nos tirou de lá, para nos trazer para dentro, para nos dar a terra que ele jurou a nossos pais.
And us he brought out from there; in order to bring us in, to give us the land which he had sworn unto our fathers.
24 Javé nos mandou fazer todos estes estatutos, temer a Javé nosso Deus, para nosso bem sempre, para que ele nos preservasse vivos, como somos hoje.
And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God; that it might be well with us at all times, and that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
25 Será justiça para nós, se observarmos cumprir todos estes mandamentos perante Javé nosso Deus, como ele nos ordenou”.
And it shall be accounted righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.
