Deuteronômio 13

1 Se um profeta ou um sonhador de sonhos surgir entre vocês, e ele lhes der um sinal ou uma maravilha,

And if there arise within you a prophet, or one who dreams a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,

2 e o sinal ou a maravilha acontecer, do qual ele falou com vocês, dizendo: “Vamos atrás de outros deuses” (que vocês não conheceram) “e vamos servi-los”,

and the sign or the wonder come to pass which he spoke to you, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you know not;

3 vocês não ouvirão as palavras daquele profeta, ou daquele sonhador de sonhos; pois Yahweh seu Deus está testando vocês, para saber se amam Yahweh seu Deus com todo seu coração e com toda sua alma.

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or the dreamer of that dream, because the Lord your God tries you, to know whether you love your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 Você caminhará depois de Javé seu Deus, temê-lo-á, guardará seus mandamentos e obedecerá à sua voz. Você o servirá e se apegará a ele.

You shall follow the Lord your God, and fear him, and you shall hear his voice, and attach yourselves to him.

5 Esse profeta, ou esse sonhador dos sonhos, será morto, porque falou rebelião contra Javé, vosso Deus, que vos tirou da terra do Egito e vos redimiu da casa da servidão, para vos afastar do caminho que Javé, vosso Deus, vos ordenou que entrásseis. Assim tirareis o mal do meio de vós.

And that prophet or that dreamer of a dream, shall die; for he has spoken to make you err from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, who redeemed you from bondage, to thrust you out of the way which the Lord your God commanded you to walk in: so shall you abolish the evil from among you.

6 Se seu irmão, o filho de sua mãe, ou seu filho, ou sua filha, ou a esposa de seu peito, ou seu amigo que é como sua própria alma, o atrai secretamente, dizendo: “Vamos e sirvamos outros deuses” - que você não conheceu, nem você, nem seus pais;

And if your brother by your father or mother, or your son, or daughter, or your wife in your bosom, or friend who is equal to your own soul, entreat you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known,

7 dos deuses dos povos que estão ao vosso redor, perto de vós, ou longe de vós, de uma extremidade da terra até a outra -

of the gods of the nations that are round about you, who are near you or at a distance from you, from one end of the earth to the other;

8 não consentireis com ele nem o escutareis; nem tereis piedade dele, nem o poupareis, nem o ocultareis;

you shall not consent to him, neither shall you listen to him; and your eye shall not spare him, you shall feel no regret for him, neither shall you at all protect him:

9 mas certamente o matareis. Vossa mão estará primeiro sobre ele para matá-lo, e depois as mãos de todo o povo.

you shall surely report concerning him, and your hands shall be upon him among the first to kill him, and the hands of all the people at the last.

10 Apedrejá-lo-eis até a morte, porque ele procurou afastar-vos de Javé vosso Deus, que vos tirou da terra do Egito, da casa da servidão.

And they shall stone him with stones, and he shall die, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

11 All Israel ouvirá, e temerá, e não fará mais maldades como esta entre vós.

And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not again do according to this evil thing among you.

12 If você ouve sobre uma de suas cidades, que Yahweh seu Deus lhe dá para morar lá, que

And if in one of your cities which the Lord God gives you to dwell therein, you shall hear men saying,

13 certos malvados saíram do meio de vocês e afastaram os habitantes de sua cidade, dizendo: “Vamos e sirvamos outros deuses”, que você não conheceu,

Evil men have gone out from you, and have caused all the inhabitants of their land to fall away, saying, Let us go and worship other gods, whom you knew not,

14 então você perguntará, investigará e perguntará diligentemente. Eis que, se é verdade, e o que é certo, que tal abominação foi feita entre vocês,

then you shall enquire and ask, and search diligently, and behold, [if] the thing is clearly true, and this abomination has taken place among you,

15 certamente atingirão os habitantes daquela cidade com o fio da espada, destruindo-a totalmente, com tudo o que há nela e seu gado, com o fio da espada.

you shall utterly destroy all the dwellers in that land with the edge of the sword; you shall solemnly curse it, and all things in it.

16 recolherás todo seu saque no meio de sua rua, e queimarás com fogo a cidade, com todo seu saque, a Javé teu Deus. Será uma pilha para sempre. Não será construída novamente.

And all its spoils you shall gather into its public ways, and you shall burn the city with fire, and all its spoils publicly before the Lord your God; and it shall be uninhabited for ever, it shall not be built again.

17 Nada da coisa devota se agarrará à sua mão, para que Javé se converta da ferocidade de sua ira e mostre misericórdia, e tenha compaixão de você e multiplique você, como jurou a seus pais,

And there shall nothing of the cursed thing cleave to your hand, that the Lord may turn from his fierce anger, and show you mercy, and pity you, and multiply you, as he sware to your fathers;

18 quando ouvir a voz de Javé, seu Deus, para guardar todos os seus mandamentos que eu lhe ordeno hoje, para fazer o que é certo aos olhos de Javé, seu Deus.

if you will hear the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments, all that I charge you this day, to do that which is good and pleasing before the Lord your God.
