Deuteronômio 1
1 Estas são as palavras que Moisés falou a todo Israel além do Jordão no deserto, no Arabah em frente ao Suf, entre Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, e Dizahab.
These are the words which Moses spoke unto all Israel on this side of the Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Chazeroth, and Di-zahab.
2 São onze dias de viagem de Horeb, pelo caminho do Monte Seir até Kadesh Barnea.
It is a journey of eleven days from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea'.
3 No quadragésimo ano, no décimo primeiro mês, no primeiro dia do mês, Moisés falou aos filhos de Israel de acordo com tudo o que Iavé lhes havia ordenado,
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, according to all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them;
4 depois de ter atingido Sihon, o rei dos amorreus que vivia em Heshbon, e Og, o rei de Basã que vivia em Ashtaroth, em Edrei.
After he had smitten Sichon the king of the Emorites, who dwelt in Cheshbon, and 'Og the king of Bashan, who dwelt at 'Ashtaroth in Edre'i.
5 Além do Jordão, na terra dos moabitas, Moisés começou a declarar esta lei, dizendo:
On this side of the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to explain this law, saying,
6 “Yahweh nosso Deus nos falou em Horeb, dizendo: 'Vós já vivestes tempo suficiente nesta montanha'.
The Lord our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have tarried long enough at this mount;
7 Vire, e faça sua viagem, e vá para a região montanhosa dos amorreus e para todos os lugares próximos: no Arabah, na região montanhosa, na planície, no Sul, à beira-mar, na terra dos cananeus, e no Líbano até o grande rio, o rio Eufrates.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mountain of the Emorites, and unto all its neighboring places, in the plain, in the mountain, and in the lowlands, and in the southern country, and by the coast of the sea, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto the Lebanon, up to the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 Eis que eu pus a terra diante de vocês. Ide e possuí a terra que Javé jurou a vossos pais - a Abraão, a Isaac e a Jacó - dar a eles e a seus descendentes depois deles”.
Behold, I have given up the land before you: go in and take possession of the land which the Lord hath sworn unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto them and to their seed after them.
9 Falei com você naquela época, dizendo: “Eu mesmo não sou capaz de suportá-lo sozinho”.
And I said unto you at that time, as followeth, I am not able alone to bear you:
10 Yahweh seu Deus multiplicou você, e eis que hoje você é como as estrelas do céu para a multidão.
The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11 Que Yahweh, o Deus de seus pais, faça de vocês mil vezes mais numerosos e os abençoe, como Ele lhes prometeu!
May the Lord the God of your fathers make you a thousand times as many more as ye are; and bless you, as he hath spoken unto you.
12 Como eu mesmo posso suportar sozinho seus problemas, seus fardos e suas lutas?
How can I by myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife!
13 Tomai homens sábios de entendimento que são respeitados entre vossas tribos, e eu os farei passar por cima de vós”.
Furnish for yourselves wise and understanding men, and those known among your tribes, and I will place them as chiefs over you.
14 Você me respondeu e disse: “O que você falou é bom de se fazer”.
And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good to do.
15 Então eu tomei os chefes de suas tribos, homens sábios e respeitados, e os fiz cabeças sobre você, capitães de milhares, capitães de centenas, capitães de cinqüenta, capitães de dezenas, e oficiais, de acordo com suas tribos.
And I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise and known men, and I set them as heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and as officers for your tribes.
16 Ordenei a seus juízes naquela época, dizendo: “Ouçam os casos entre seus irmãos e julguem com justiça entre um homem e seu irmão, e o estrangeiro que vive com ele”.
And I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously, between a man and his brother, and between his stranger.
17 Não demonstrará parcialidade no julgamento; ouvirá os pequenos e os grandes. Não terás medo da face do homem, pois o julgamento é de Deus. O caso que for muito difícil para você, você me trará, e eu o ouvirei”.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; the small as well as the great shall ye hear; ye shall not be afraid of any man; for the judgment belongeth to God: and the cause that is too hard for you shall ye bring unto me, and I will hear it.
18 Eu lhe ordenei naquela época todas as coisas que você deve fazer”.
And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19 Viajamos de Horeb e passamos por todo aquele grande e terrível deserto que você viu, pelo caminho para o país montanhoso dos Amoritas, como Javé nosso Deus nos ordenou; e viemos para Kadesh Barnea.
And we departed from Horeb, and we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye have seen, by the way of the mountain of the Emorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came as far as Kadesh-barnea'.
20 Eu lhes disse: “Vocês vieram à região montanhosa dos amorreus, que Javé, nosso Deus, nos dá.
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Emorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.
21 Eis que Yahweh, nosso Deus, colocou a terra diante de vocês. Suba, tome posse, como Javé, o Deus de seus pais, falou com você. Não tenha medo, nem se desespere”.
Behold, the Lord thy God hath given up the land before thee: go up and take possession of it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee; do not fear, and be not discouraged.
22 Vocês se aproximaram de mim, todos vocês, e disseram: “Vamos enviar homens diante de nós, para que eles possam procurar por nós na terra e trazer-nos notícias sobre o caminho pelo qual devemos subir, e as cidades para onde devemos ir”.
And ye all came near unto me and said, Let us send out men before us, that they may search out for us the land, and bring us word again concerning the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.
23 A coisa me agradou bem. Levei doze de seus homens, um homem para cada tribo.
And the thing was pleasing in my eyes; and I took of you twelve men, one man for every tribe:
24 Eles se viraram e subiram para a região montanhosa, chegaram ao vale de Eshcol e o espiaram.
And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
25 Eles pegaram alguns dos frutos da terra em suas mãos e trouxeram-nos para baixo, trouxeram-nos notícias novamente, e disseram: “É uma boa terra que Yahweh nosso Deus nos dá”.
And they took in their hand some of the fruit of the land, and brought it down unto us; and they brought us word again, and said, The land which the Lord our God doth give us is good.
26 No entanto, você não subiria, mas se rebelou contra o mandamento de Yahweh, seu Deus.
But you would not go up, and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord your God;
27 Você murmurou em suas tendas, e disse: “Porque Javé nos odiava, ele nos tirou da terra do Egito, para nos entregar nas mãos dos amorreus para nos destruir”.
And ye murmured in your tents, and said, On account of the hatred of the Lord toward us, hath he brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Emorites, to destroy us.
28 Aonde vamos subir? Nossos irmãos fizeram nosso coração derreter, dizendo: “O povo é maior e mais alto do que nós”. As cidades são grandes e fortificadas até o céu”. Além disso, vimos lá os filhos dos Anakim””.
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have made faint our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover the sons of the 'Anakim have we seen there.
29 Então eu lhe disse: “Não fique aterrorizado. Não tenha medo deles”.
And I said unto you, Have no dread, nor be ye afraid of them.
30 Yahweh seu Deus, que vai antes de você, ele lutará por você, de acordo com tudo o que ele fez por você no Egito diante de seus olhos,
The Lord your God who goeth before you, he it is who will fight for you; all just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 e no deserto onde você viu como aquele Yahweh seu Deus o carregou, como um homem carrega seu filho, em todo o caminho que você percorreu, até chegar a este lugar”.
And in the wilderness which thou hast seen, where the Lord thy God bore thee, as a man doth bear his son, on all the way that ye have gone, until ye came unto this place.
32 No entanto, nesta coisa você não acreditava em Yahweh seu Deus,
Yet in this thing do ye not believe in the Lord your God,
33 que foi antes de você no caminho, para procurar um lugar para você armar suas tendas: no fogo à noite, para mostrar-lhe por que caminho você deve ir, e na nuvem de dia.
Who goeth before you on the way to seek out for you a place for your encamping, in fire by night, to cause you to see on the way in which ye are to go, and in a cloud by day.
34 Javé ouviu a voz de suas palavras e se indignou, e jurou, dizendo:
And the Lord heard the voice of your words; and he was wroth, and swore, saying,
35 “Certamente nenhum destes homens desta geração má verá a terra boa que jurei dar a seus pais,
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I have sworn to give unto your fathers;
36 exceto Caleb, o filho de Jefoné. Ele a verá. Eu darei a ele e a seus filhos a terra que ele pisou, porque ele seguiu totalmente Yahweh”.
Save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, he shall see it, and to him will I give the land upon which he hath trodden, and to his children; because he hath wholly followed the Lord.
37 Também Yahweh ficou zangado comigo por sua causa, dizendo: “Você também não deve entrar ali”.
also with me was the Lord angry for your sakes, saying, also thou shalt not go in thither.
38 Josué, o filho de Freira, que está diante de você, deve entrar ali. Encoraje-o, pois ele fará Israel herdá-la.
Joshua the son of Nun, who standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: him encourage; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39 Além disso, seus filhinhos, que você disse que seriam capturados ou mortos, seus filhos, que hoje não têm conhecimento do bem ou do mal, entrarão ali. Eu lhes darei, e eles o possuirão.
And your little ones, of whom ye said, They will become a prey, and your children who know not this day either good or evil, these shall go in thither; and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40 Mas quanto a você, vire-se, e faça sua viagem ao deserto pelo caminho do Mar Vermelho”.
But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.
41 Então você respondeu e me disse: “Pecamos contra Yahweh”. Vamos subir e lutar, de acordo com tudo o que Javé, nosso Deus, nos ordenou”. Cada um de vocês colocou suas armas de guerra, e presumiu ir para o país das colinas.
And ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord; we indeed will go up and we will fight, according to all that the Lord our God hath commanded us; and ye girded on every man his weapons of war, and ye insisted to go up into the mountain.
42 Yahweh disse-me: “Diga-lhes: 'Não subam e não lutem; pois não estou entre vocês, para que não sejam atingidos diante de seus inimigos'”.
And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, and do not fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 Então eu falei com você, e você não me ouviu; mas você se rebelou contra o mandamento de Javé, e foi presunçoso, e subiu para o país das colinas.
And I spoke unto you; but ye would not hear; and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord, and you were presumptuous, and went up into the mountain.
44 Os amoritas, que viviam naquela região montanhosa, saíram contra vocês e os perseguiram como abelhas, e os espancaram em Seir, até mesmo a Hormah.
And the Emorites, who dwelt in that mountain: came out against you, and they pursued you, as the bees do, and they overthrew you in Seir, as far as Chormah.
45 Você voltou e chorou antes de Javé, mas Javé não ouviu sua voz, nem virou seu ouvido para você.
And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you.
46 Então você ficou muitos dias em Kadesh, de acordo com os dias que você permaneceu.
And ye tarried in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye tarried there.
