Amós 3
1 Ouçam esta palavra que Javé falou contra vocês, filhos de Israel, contra toda a família que eu criei fora da terra do Egito, dizendo
Hear this word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O children of Israel, concerning the whole family which I have brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 “Eu só escolhi você entre todas as famílias da Terra. Portanto, eu o castigarei por todos os seus pecados”.
Only you have I loved out of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.
3 Fazer duas caminhadas juntas, a menos que eles tenham concordado?
Will two walk together, except they had agreed [to do so]?
4 Um leão bramirá na mata, quando ele não tem presa? Um jovem leão grita de sua toca, se ele não pegou nada?
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion send forth his voice out of his den, unless he have caught something?
5 Pode uma ave cair em uma armadilha na terra, onde não há nenhuma armadilha para ele? Uma armadilha surge do chão, quando não há nada para pegar?
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, when there is no gin for him? is ever a snare taken up from the ground, when it hath caught nothing at all?
6 O alarme do trompete soa em uma cidade, sem que as pessoas tenham medo? Acontece o mal a uma cidade, e Yahweh não o fez?
Shall a cornet be blown in a city, and the people not become afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord have not done it?
7 Certamente o Senhor Yahweh não fará nada, a menos que ele revele seu segredo aos seus servos, os profetas.
For the Lord Eternal will do nothing, unless he have revealed his secret unto his servants the prophets.
8 O leão rugiu. Quem não terá medo? O Senhor Yahweh falou. Quem pode apenas profetizar?
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord Eternal hath spoken, who will not prophesy?
9 Proclamação nos palácios de Ashdod, e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizer: “Reúnam-se nas montanhas de Samaria”, e veja o que há de agitado nela, e que opressão está entre eles”.
Publish at the palaces in Ashdod, and at the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions in her midst, and the oppressions [that are] within her.
10 “De fato, eles não sabem fazer o que é certo”, diz Yahweh, “Que acumulam saques e pilhagens em seus palácios”.
For they know not how to act rightly, saith the Lord, who treasure up violence and robbery in their palaces.
11 Portanto, diz o Senhor Yahweh: “Um adversário irá invadir a terra; e ele vai derrubar seus bastiões, e suas fortalezas serão saqueadas”.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The adversary [is there] and surroundeth the land: and he shall bring down from thee thy strength, and thy palaces shall be plundered.
12 diz Yahweh: “Enquanto o pastor resgata da boca do leão duas pernas”, ou um pedaço de uma orelha, assim serão resgatadas as crianças de Israel que se sentam em Samaria, na esquina de um sofá, e sobre as almofadas de seda de uma cama”.
Thus hath said the Lord, As the shepherd snatcheth out of the mouth of the lion [at most] two leg-bones, or a tip of the ear: so shall be delivered the children of Israel that sit in Samaria on the corner of a bed, and on Damascus couches.
13 “Ouça e testemunhe contra a casa de Jacó”, diz o Senhor Yahweh, o Deus dos Exércitos.
Hear ye, and give warning in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Eternal, the God of hosts.
14 “Pois no dia em que eu visitar as transgressões de Israel sobre ele, Visitarei também os altares de Betel; e os chifres do altar serão cortados, e cair no chão.
For on the day when I visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, will I also inflict punishment on the altars of Beth-el: and then shall be hewn off the horns of the altar, and they shall fall to the ground.
15 Vou atacar a casa de inverno com a casa de verão; e as casas de marfim perecerão, e as grandes casas terão um fim”. diz Yahweh.
And I will smite the winter-house together with the summer-house: and the houses of ivory shall disappear, and the great houses shall be no more, saith the Lord.
