2 Reis 6
1 Os filhos dos profetas disseram a Elisha: “Veja agora, o lugar onde vivemos e nos encontramos com você é muito pequeno para nós.
Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “Please take note that the place where we meet with you is too small for us.
2 Por favor, deixe-nos ir ao Jordão, e cada homem pegue uma viga de lá, e vamos fazer de nós um lugar lá, onde possamos viver”. Ele respondeu: “Vá!”.
Please let us go to the Jordan, where each of us can get a log so we can build ourselves a place to live there.” “Go,” said Elisha.
3 Um disse: “Por favor, tenha o prazer de ir com seus criados”. Ele respondeu: “Eu irei”.
Then one of them said, “Please come with your servants.” “I will come,” he replied.
4 Então ele foi com eles. Quando chegaram ao Jordão, eles cortaram madeira.
So Elisha went with them, and when they came to the Jordan, they began to cut down some trees.
5 Mas quando alguém estava cortando uma árvore, a cabeça do machado caiu na água. Então ele gritou e disse: “Ai de mim, meu amo! Pois foi emprestada”.
As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axe head fell into the water. “Oh, my master,” he cried out, “it was borrowed!”
6 O homem de Deus perguntou: “Onde caiu?” Ele lhe mostrou o lugar. Ele cortou um bastão, jogou-o lá dentro e fez o ferro flutuar.
“Where did it fall?” asked the man of God. And when he showed him the place, the man of God cut a stick, threw it there, and made the iron float.
7 Ele disse: “Pegue-o”. Então ele estendeu a mão e o pegou.
“Lift it out,” he said, and the man reached out his hand and took it.
8 Agora o rei da Síria estava em guerra contra Israel; e ele se aconselhou com seus servos, dizendo: “Meu acampamento estará em tal e tal lugar”.
Now the king of Aram was at war against Israel. After consulting with his servants, he said, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”
9 O homem de Deus enviou ao rei de Israel, dizendo: “Cuidado para não passar por este lugar, pois os sírios estão descendo para lá”.
Then the man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Be careful passing by this place, for the Arameans are going down there.”
10 O rei de Israel enviou ao lugar que o homem de Deus lhe disse e o advertiu; e ele se salvou lá, não uma ou duas vezes.
So the king of Israel sent word to the place the man of God had pointed out. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.
11 O coração do rei da Síria ficou muito perturbado com isso. Ele chamou seus servos e lhes disse: “Não me mostrará qual de nós é para o rei de Israel?
For this reason the king of Aram became enraged and called his servants to demand of them, “Tell me, which one of us is on the side of the king of Israel?”
12 Um de seus servos disse: “Não, meu senhor, ó rei; mas Eliseu, o profeta que está em Israel, diz ao rei de Israel as palavras que você diz em seu quarto”.
But one of his servants replied, “No one, my lord the king. For Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”
13 Ele disse: “Vá e veja onde ele está, para que eu possa mandá-lo e pegá-lo”. Foi-lhe dito: “Eis que ele está em Dothan”.
So the king said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send men to capture him.” On receiving the report, “Elisha is in Dothan,”
14 Portanto, ele enviou cavalos, carruagens e um grande exército para lá. Eles vieram de noite e cercaram a cidade.
the king of Aram sent horses, chariots, and a great army. They went there by night and surrounded the city.
15 Quando o servo do homem de Deus se levantou cedo e saiu, eis que um exército com cavalos e carruagens estava ao redor da cidade. Seu servo lhe disse: “Ai de mim, meu senhor! O que devemos fazer”?
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early in the morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?”
16 Ele respondeu: “Não tenha medo, pois aqueles que estão conosco são mais do que aqueles que estão com eles”.
“Do not be afraid,” Elisha answered, “for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 Elisha rezou e disse: “Yahweh, por favor, abra seus olhos, para que ele possa ver”. Javé abriu os olhos do jovem, e ele viu; e eis que a montanha estava cheia de cavalos e carruagens de fogo ao redor de Elisha.
Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
18 Quando chegaram até ele, Elisha rezou a Javé e disse: “Por favor, golpeie este povo com cegueira”. Ele os atingiu com a cegueira, de acordo com a palavra de Elisha.
As the Arameans came down against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, “Please strike these people with blindness.” So He struck them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.
19 Elisha lhes disse: “Este não é o caminho, nem esta é a cidade”. Sigam-me, e eu os levarei ao homem que vocês procuram”. Ele os conduziu até Samaria.
And Elisha told them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are seeking.” And he led them to Samaria.
20 Quando chegaram a Samaria, Elisha disse: “Yahweh, abre os olhos destes homens, para que eles possam ver”. Javé abriu os olhos e eles viram; e eis que eles estavam no meio da Samaria.
When they had entered Samaria, Elisha said, “O LORD, open the eyes of these men that they may see.” Then the LORD opened their eyes, and they looked around and discovered that they were in Samaria.
21 O rei de Israel disse a Eliseu, quando os viu: “Meu pai, devo golpeá-los? Devo atacá-los?”
And when the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, “My father, shall I kill them? Shall I kill them?”
22 Ele respondeu: “Você não deve golpeá-los”. Você atingiria aqueles a quem você levou cativos com sua espada e com seu arco? Ponha pão e água diante deles, para que possam comer e beber, e depois vá ter com seu amo”.
“Do not kill them,” he replied. “Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them, that they may eat and drink and then return to their master.”
23 Ele preparou um grande banquete para eles. Depois que eles comeram e beberam, ele os mandou embora e eles foram ter com seu mestre. Assim, as bandas da Síria pararam de invadir a terra de Israel.
So the king prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. And the Aramean raiders did not come into the land of Israel again.
24 Depois disso, Benhadad, rei da Síria, reuniu todo seu exército, e subiu e cercou Samaria.
Some time later, Ben-hadad king of Aram assembled his entire army and marched up to besiege Samaria.
25 Houve uma grande fome em Samaria. Eis que a sitiaram até que a cabeça de um burro foi vendida por oitenta moedas de prata, e a quarta parte de uma espetada de esterco de pomba por cinco moedas de prata.
So there was a great famine in Samaria. Indeed, they besieged the city so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter cab of dove’s dung sold for five shekels of silver.
26 Enquanto o rei de Israel passava no muro, uma mulher gritava para ele, dizendo: “Socorro, meu senhor, ó rei!
As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, “Help me, my lord the king!”
27 Ele disse: “Se Javé não te ajuda, onde eu poderia conseguir ajuda para você? Da eira, ou do lagar?”
He answered, “If the LORD does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or the winepress?”
28 Então o rei lhe perguntou: “Qual é o seu problema?” Ela respondeu: “Esta mulher me disse: 'Dê seu filho, para que possamos comê-lo hoje, e comeremos meu filho amanhã'”.
Then the king asked her, “What is the matter?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him, and tomorrow we will eat my son.’
29 Então cozinhamos meu filho e o comemos; e eu lhe disse no dia seguinte: 'Dê seu filho, para que possamos comê-lo;' e ela escondeu seu filho”.
So we boiled my son and ate him, and the next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him.’ But she had hidden her son.”
30 Quando o rei ouviu as palavras da mulher, rasgou suas roupas. Agora ele estava passando na parede, e o povo olhou, e eis que ele tinha pano de saco embaixo de seu corpo.
When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. And as he passed by on the wall, the people saw the sackcloth under his clothes next to his skin.
31 Então ele disse: “Deus faça isso comigo, e mais ainda, se a cabeça de Elisha, o filho de Shaphat, permanecer sobre ele hoje”.
He announced, “May God punish me, and ever so severely, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders through this day!”
32 Mas Elisha estava sentado em sua casa, e os anciãos estavam sentados com ele. Então o rei enviou um homem de antes dele; mas antes que o mensageiro chegasse até ele, ele disse aos anciãos: “Você vê como este filho de um assassino enviou para me tirar a cabeça? Eis que, quando o mensageiro chega, fecha a porta, e mantém a porta fechada contra ele. O som dos pés de seu mestre não está atrás dele?”
Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door to keep him out. Is not the sound of his master’s footsteps behind him?”
33 Enquanto ele ainda estava conversando com eles, eis que o mensageiro veio até ele. Então ele disse: “Eis que este mal é de Javé. Por que eu deveria esperar mais por Iavé?”
While Elisha was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him. And the king said, “This calamity is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
