2 Reis 13

1 No vigésimo terceiro ano de Joás, filho de Acazias, rei de Judá, Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, começou a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria por dezessete anos.

In the three and twentieth year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda, Joachaz the son of Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria, seventeen years.

2 Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos de Iavé, e seguiu os pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, com os quais ele fez Israel pecar. Ele não se afastou dele.

And he did evil before the Lord, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, and he departed not from them.

3 A raiva de Javé queimou contra Israel, e ele os entregou na mão de Hazael, rei da Síria, e na mão de Benhadad, filho de Hazael, continuamente.

And the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Benadad the son of Hazael all days.

4 Jehoahaz implorou a Javé, e Javé o ouviu; pois ele viu a opressão de Israel, como o rei da Síria os oprimiu.

But Joachaz besought the face of the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the distress of Israel, because the king of Syria had oppressed them:

5 (Javé deu a Israel um salvador, para que eles saíssem de debaixo da mão dos sírios; e os filhos de Israel viviam em suas tendas como antes.

And the Lord gave Israel a saviour, and they were delivered out of the hand of the king of Syria: and the children of Israel dwelt in their pavilions as yesterday and the day before.

6 No entanto eles não se afastaram dos pecados da casa de Jeroboão, com os quais ele fez Israel pecar, mas andou neles; e os Asherah também permaneceram em Samaria).

But yet they departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin, but walked in them: and there still remained a grove also in Samaria.

7 Pois ele não deixou a Jehoahaz do povo mais de cinqüenta cavaleiros, dez carros e dez mil homens de pé; pois o rei da Síria os destruiu e os fez como o pó da debulha.

And Joachaz had no more left of the people than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen: for the king of Syria had slain them, and had brought them low as dust by thrashing in the barnfloor.

8 Agora o resto dos atos de Jeoacaz, e tudo o que ele fez, e seu poder, não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?

Rut the rest of the acts of Joachaz, and all that he did, and his valour, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

9 Jehoahaz dormiu com seus pais; e eles o enterraram em Samaria; e Joás, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.

10 No trigésimo sétimo ano de Joás, rei de Judá, Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, começou a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria por dezesseis anos.

In the seven and thirtieth year of Joas king of Juda, Joas the son of Joachaz reigned over Israel in Samaria sixteen years.

11 Ele fez o que era mau aos olhos de Iavé. Ele não se afastou de todos os pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, com os quais ele fez Israel pecar; mas ele andou neles.

And he did that which is evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, but he walked in them.

12 Agora o resto dos atos de Joás, e tudo o que ele fez, e sua força com que lutou contra o Amazonas, rei de Judá, não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?

But the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his valour wherewith he fought against Amasias king of Juda, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

13 Joás dormiu com seus pais; e Jeroboão sentou-se em seu trono. Joás foi enterrado em Samaria com os reis de Israel.

And Joas slept with his fathers: and Jeroboam sat upon his throne. But Joas was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Now Eliseu adoeceu com a doença da qual morreu; e Joás, o rei de Israel, desceu até ele, chorou sobre ele e disse: “Meu pai, meu pai, os carros de Israel e seus cavaleiros”!

Now Eliseus was sick of the illness whereof he died: and Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept before him, and said: O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the guider thereof.

15 Elisha lhe disse: “Pegue o arco e flechas”; e ele pegou arco e flechas para si mesmo.

And Eliseus said to him: Bring a bow and arrows. And when he had brought him a bow, and arrows,

16 Ele disse ao rei de Israel: “Ponha sua mão sobre o arco”; e ele colocou sua mão sobre ele. Eliseu pôs suas mãos sobre as mãos do rei.

He said to the king of Israel: Put thy hand upon the bow. And when he had put his hand, Eliseus put his hands over the king’s hands,

17 Ele disse: “Abra a janela para o leste”; e ele a abriu. Então Eliseu disse: “Atire!” e ele atirou. Ele disse: “A flecha da vitória de Javé, até mesmo a flecha da vitória sobre a Síria; pois vocês atingirão os sírios em Afek até que os tenham consumido”.

And said: Open the window to the east. And when he had opened it, Eliseus said: Shoot an arrow. And he shot. And Eliseus said: The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance, and the arrow of the deliverance from Syria: and thou shalt strike the Syrians in Aphec, till thou consume them.

18 Ele disse: “Pegue as flechas”; e ele as pegou. Ele disse ao rei de Israel: “Atinja o chão”; e ele bateu três vezes, e parou.

And he said: Take the arrows. And when he had taken them, he said to him: Strike with an arrow upon the ground. And he struck three times and stood still.

19 O homem de Deus ficou bravo com ele, e disse: “Você deveria ter atingido cinco ou seis vezes. Então você teria atingido a Síria até que a tivesse consumido, mas agora você terá atingido a Síria apenas três vezes”.

And the man of God was angry with him, and said: If thou hadst smitten five or six or seven times, thou hadst smitten Syria even to utter destruction: but now three times shalt thou smite it.

20 Elisha morreu, e eles o enterraram. Agora, as bandas dos moabitas invadiram a terra na chegada do ano.

And Eliseus died, and they buried him. And the rovers from Moab came into the land the same year.

21 Quando estavam enterrando um homem, eis que viram um bando de saqueadores; e jogaram o homem na tumba de Elisha. Assim que o homem tocou os ossos de Elisha, ele reviveu, e se levantou de pé.

And some that were burying a man, saw the rovers, and cast the body into the sepulchre of Eliseus. And when it had touched the bones of Eliseus, the man came to life, and stood upon his feet.

22 Hazael, rei da Síria, oprimiu Israel durante todos os dias de Jehoahaz.

Now Hazael king of Syria afflicted Israel all the days of Joachaz:

23 Mas Javé foi gentil com eles, e teve compaixão deles, e os favoreceu por causa de sua aliança com Abraão, Isaac e Jacó, e não os quis destruir e ainda não os expulsou de sua presença.

And the Lord had mercy on them, and returned to them because of his covenant, which he had made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob: and he would not destroy them, nor utterly cast them away, unto this present time.

24 Hazael, rei da Síria, morreu; e Benhadad, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

And Hazael king of Syria died, and Benadad his son reigned in his stead.

25 Jehoash, filho de Jehoahaz, tirou novamente da mão de Benhadad, filho de Hazael, as cidades que ele havia tirado da mão de Jehoahaz, seu pai, pela guerra. Joás o golpeou três vezes, e recuperou as cidades de Israel.

Now Joas the son of Joachaz, took the cities out of the hand of Benadad, the son of Hazael, which he had taken out of the hand of Joachaz his father by war, three times did Joas beat him, and he restored the cities to Israel.
