1 Samuel 9
1 Agora havia um homem de Benjamin, cujo nome era Kish, filho de Abiel, filho de Zeror, filho de Becorath, filho de Aphiah, filho de um Benjamita, um homem poderoso e valoroso.
Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiach, the son of a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor.
2 Ele tinha um filho cujo nome era Saul, um jovem impressionante; e não havia entre os filhos de Israel uma pessoa mais bonita do que ele. De seus ombros para cima, ele era mais alto do que qualquer outro povo.
And he had a son whose name was Saul, young and handsome; and there was not a man among the children of Israel handsomer than he: from his shoulders and upward he was taller than any of the people.
3 Os burros de Kish, o pai de Saul, estavam perdidos. Kish disse a Saul seu filho: “Agora leve um dos criados com você, e levante-se, vá procurar os burros”.
And there were lost the asses belonging to Kish, Saul's father; and Kish said to Saul his son, Do take with thee one of the servants, and arise, go seek the asses.
4 Ele passou pela região montanhosa de Efraim, e passou pela terra de Shalishah, mas eles não os encontraram. Então eles passaram pela terra de Shaalim, e não estavam lá. Então ele passou pela terra dos benjamitas, mas eles não os encontraram.
And he passed through the mountain of Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found [them] not; then they passed through the land of Sha'alim, and there was nothing there; and he passed through the land of Benjamin, but they found them not.
5 Quando chegaram à terra de Zuph, Saul disse a seu servo que estava com ele: “Venha! Vamos voltar, para que meu pai não deixe de se preocupar com os burros e fique ansioso por nós”.
When they were come in the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father relinquish the care for the asses, and become anxious for us.
6 O servo lhe disse: “Eis que há um homem de Deus nesta cidade, e ele é um homem que é honrado”. Tudo o que ele diz certamente acontece”. Agora vamos lá. Talvez ele possa nos dizer qual o caminho a seguir”.
And the other said unto him, Behold now, a man of God is in this city, and the man is honored; all that he ever saith will surely come to pass: now let us go thither; perhaps he can tell us our way that we should go.
7 Então Saul disse a seu servo: “Mas eis que, se formos, o que devemos trazer o homem? Pois o pão é gasto em nossos sacos, e não há um presente para levar ao homem de Deus”. O que nós temos”?
Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we should go, what shall we bring to the man? for the bread is spent out of our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we with us?
8 O criado respondeu novamente a Saul e disse: “Eis que tenho na minha mão a quarta parte de um siclo de prata. Darei isso ao homem de Deus, para nos dizer nosso caminho”.
And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here in my hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver; and I will give this to the man of God, that he may tell us our way.
9 (Em tempos anteriores em Israel, quando um homem foi perguntar a Deus, ele disse: “Venha! Vamos até o vidente”; pois aquele que agora é chamado de profeta, antes era chamado de vidente).
In former times it was custom in Israel, that when a man went to inquire of God, he said thus, Come, and let us go as far as the seer; for the Prophet of the present day was in former times called a Seer.
10 Então Saul disse a seu criado: “Bem dito. Venha! Vamos!”. Então eles foram para a cidade onde estava o homem de Deus.
Then said Saul to his servant, Thy word is good: come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.
11 Quando subiram para a cidade, encontraram jovens donzelas que saíam para tirar água e lhes disseram: “A vidente está aqui?”
As they went up the ascent to the city, they found some maidens going out to draw water; and they said unto them, Is the seer here?
12 Eles responderam e disseram: “Ele está. Eis que ele está diante de vocês”. Apresse-se agora, pois ele chegou hoje à cidade; pois o povo tem hoje um sacrifício no lugar alto.
And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for this day came he to the city; because the people have a sacrifice today on the high-place;
13 Assim que você entrar na cidade, você o encontrará imediatamente antes que ele suba ao alto para comer; pois o povo não comerá até que ele chegue, porque ele abençoa o sacrifício. Depois, aqueles que são convidados comem. Agora, portanto, subam; pois, neste momento, vocês o encontrarão”.
As soon as ye are come into the city, ye will straightway find him, before yet he can go up to the high-place to eat; for the people will not eat until he be come, because he always blesseth the sacrifice; afterward eat those that are invited; and now go you up; for just today will ye surely find him.
14 Eles foram até a cidade. Quando entraram na cidade, eis que Samuel saiu em direção a eles para subir até o alto.
And they went up into the city. They were entering into the city, when, behold, Samuel came out toward them, to go up to the high-place.
15 Agora Yahweh havia revelado a Samuel um dia antes de Saul chegar, dizendo:
And the Lord had revealed to Samuel's ear one day before Saul's coming, saying,
16 “Amanhã, por esta hora, eu lhe enviarei um homem da terra de Benjamim, e você o ungirá para ser príncipe sobre meu povo Israel. Ele salvará meu povo da mão dos filisteus; pois eu olhei para o meu povo, porque o seu clamor chegou até mim”.
About this time tomorrow will I send unto thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him as chief over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have beheld my people, because their cry is come unto me.
17 Quando Samuel viu Saul, Javé lhe disse: “Eis o homem de quem eu falei com você! Ele terá autoridade sobre meu povo”.
And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord addressed him, Behold, the man of whom I spoke to thee, This one shall rule over my people.
18 Então Saul se aproximou de Samuel na porta de entrada e disse: “Por favor, me diga onde fica a casa do vidente”.
And Saul drew near to Samuel within the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where is the house of the seer.
19 Samuel respondeu a Saul e disse: “Eu sou o vidente”. Suba antes de mim para o alto, pois hoje você vai comer comigo. Pela manhã, eu os deixarei ir e lhes direi tudo o que está em seu coração”.
And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high-place, and ye shall eat with me today; and I will let thee go in the morning, and all that is in thy heart will I tell thee.
20 Quanto aos seus burros que se perderam há três dias, não se preocupe com eles, pois eles foram encontrados. Para quem todo Israel deseja? Não é você e toda a casa de seu pai?”.
And as for thy asses that were lost unto thee this day three days ago, do not set thy heart on them; for they have been found. And to whom belongeth all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not to thee, and to all thy father's house?
21 Saul respondeu: “Não sou eu um benjamita, da menor das tribos de Israel? E minha família é a menor de todas as famílias da tribo de Benjamim? Por que então você fala assim comigo?”
And Saul answered and said, Am not I a son of Benjamin, of one of the smallest tribes of Israel? and [is not] my family the least of all the families of the tribes of Benjamin? wherefore then hast thou spoken to me such thing?
22 Samuel levou Saul e seu criado e os levou para o quarto de hóspedes, e os fez sentar no melhor lugar entre aqueles que foram convidados, que eram cerca de trinta pessoas.
And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the apartment; and he assigned them a place at the head of the invited guests, who were about thirty persons.
23 Samuel disse ao cozinheiro: “Traga a porção que eu lhe dei, da qual eu lhe disse: 'Ponha-a de lado'”.
And Samuel said unto the cook, Hand here the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Put it away by thee.
24 O cozinheiro pegou a coxa, e o que estava nela, e a colocou diante de Saul. Samuel disse: “Eis o que foi reservado! Ponha-o diante de si mesmo e coma; porque foi guardado para você pelo tempo designado, pois eu disse: 'Convidei o povo'”. Então Saul comeu com Samuel naquele dia.
And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was on it, and set it before Saul; and he said, Behold what is left! set it before thee, and eat; for unto this time hath it been kept from thee, since I said, I have invited the people. And Saul ate with Samuel on that day.
25 Quando desceram do alto para a cidade, ele conversou com Saul no topo da casa.
And they went down from the high-place into the city, and he spoke with Saul upon the roof.
26 Eles se levantaram cedo; e sobre o amanhecer, Samuel ligou para Saul no terraço, dizendo: “Levante-se, para que eu possa mandá-lo embora”. Saul se levantou, e ambos foram para fora, ele e Samuel, juntos.
And they got up early; and it came to pass when the morning-dawn arose, that Samuel called Saul to the roof, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out, both of them, he and Samuel, into the street.
27 Quando estavam descendo no final da cidade, Samuel disse a Saul: “Diga ao criado que vá à nossa frente”. Ele foi adiante, então Samuel disse: “Mas fique quieto primeiro, para que eu possa fazer com que você ouça a mensagem de Deus”.
As they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Say to the servant that he pass on before us, —and he passed on, —but thou remain standing a while, and I will let thee hear the word of God.
