1 Reis 3
1 Salomão fez uma aliança matrimonial com o Faraó, rei do Egito. Ele tomou a filha do Faraó e a trouxe para a cidade de Davi até terminar de construir sua própria casa, a casa de Javé e o muro ao redor de Jerusalém.
Salomon then made affinitie with Pharaoh King of Egypt, and tooke Pharaohs daughter, and brought her into the citie of Dauid, vntill hee had made an ende of buylding his owne house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Ierusalem round about.
2 Entretanto, o povo se sacrificou nos lugares altos, porque ainda não havia uma casa construída para o nome de Iavé.
Only the people sacrificed in the hie places, because there was no house buylt vnto the name of the Lord, vntill those dayes.
3 Salomão amava Iavé, andando nos estatutos de Davi, seu pai, exceto que ele sacrificava e queimava incenso nos lugares altos.
And Salomon loued the Lord, walking in the ordinances of Dauid his father: onely he sacrificed and offred incense in the hie places.
4 O rei foi a Gibeon para sacrificar lá, pois aquele era o grande lugar alto. Salomão ofereceu mil holocaustos sobre aquele altar.
And the King went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the chiefe hie place: a thousand burnt offrings did Salomon offer vpon that altar.
5 Em Gibeon, Javé apareceu a Salomão em um sonho à noite; e Deus disse: “Pede o que eu te devo dar”.
In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Salomon in a dreame by night: and God sayd, Aske what I shall giue thee.
6 Salomão disse: “Você demonstrou ao seu servo David, meu pai, grande bondade amorosa, porque ele caminhou diante de você em verdade, em retidão, e em retidão de coração com você. Guardastes para ele esta grande bondade amorosa, que lhe deste um filho para sentar-se em seu trono, como é hoje”.
And Salomon sayd, Thou hast shewed vnto thy seruant Dauid my father great mercie, when hee walked before thee in trueth, and in righteousnesse, and in vprightnes of heart with thee: and thou hast kept for him this great mercie, and hast giuen him a sonne, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.
7 Agora, Javé meu Deus, você fez de seu servo rei em vez de Davi meu pai. Eu sou apenas uma criança pequena. Eu não sei como sair ou entrar.
And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy seruant King in steade of Dauid my father: and I am but a yong childe, and know not howe to go out and in.
8 Seu servo está entre o seu povo que você escolheu, um grande povo, que não pode ser numerado ou contado por multidões.
And thy seruant is in the mids of thy people, which thou hast chosen, euen a great people which cannot be told nor nobred for multitude.
9 Portanto, dê a seu servo um coração compreensivo para julgar seu povo, para que eu possa discernir entre o bem e o mal; pois quem é capaz de julgar esse seu grande povo?”.
Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?
10 Este pedido agradou ao Senhor, que Salomão tinha pedido esta coisa.
And this pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desired this thing.
11 Deus lhe disse: “Porque você pediu isto, e não pediu para si mesmo uma vida longa, nem pediu riquezas para si mesmo, nem pediu a vida de seus inimigos, mas pediu para si mesmo compreensão para discernir a justiça,
And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement,
12 eis que eu fiz de acordo com sua palavra. Eis que eu te dei um coração sábio e compreensivo, para que não houvesse ninguém como tu antes de ti, e depois de ti ninguém se levantará como tu.
Beholde, I haue done according to thy wordes: lo, I haue giuen thee a wise and an vnderstanding heart, so that there hath bene none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like vnto thee.
13 Também vos dei aquilo que não pedistes, tanto a riqueza como a honra, para que não haja nenhum entre os reis como vós para todos os vossos dias.
And I haue also giuen thee that, which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that among the Kings there shall be none like vnto thee all thy dayes.
14 Se você andar nos meus caminhos, para cumprir meus estatutos e meus mandamentos, como andou seu pai David, então eu prolongarei seus dias”.
And if thou wilt walke in my wayes, to keepe mine ordinances and my commandements, as thy father Dauid did walke, I will prolong thy dayes.
15 Salomão acordou; e eis que era um sonho. Então ele veio a Jerusalém e ficou diante da arca da aliança de Javé, e ofereceu holocaustos, ofereceu ofertas de paz, e fez um banquete para todos os seus servos.
And when Salomon awoke, behold, it was a dreame, and he came to Ierusalem, and stoode before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and offred burnt offrings and made peace offrings, and made a feast to all his seruants.
16 Então duas mulheres que eram prostitutas vieram ao rei, e se apresentaram diante dele.
Then came two harlots vnto the King, and stoode before him.
17 A única mulher disse: “Oh, meu senhor, eu e esta mulher moramos em uma casa”. Eu dei à luz uma criança com ela em casa.
And the one woman sayd, Oh my lorde, I and this woman dwell in one house, and I was deliuered of a childe with her in the house.
18 No terceiro dia após o meu parto, esta mulher também deu à luz. Nós estávamos juntos. Não havia nenhum estranho conosco na casa, apenas nós dois na casa.
And the third day after that I was deliuered, this woman was deliuered also: and we were in the house together: no stranger was with vs in the house, saue we twaine.
19 O filho desta mulher morreu durante a noite, porque ela se deitou sobre ele.
And this womans sonne died in the night: for she ouerlay him.
20 Ela se levantou à meia-noite, pegou meu filho ao meu lado enquanto sua criada dormia, deitou-o em seu seio, e deitou seu filho morto em meu seio.
And she rose at midnight, and tooke my sonne from my side, while thine handmaide slept, and layde him in her bosome, and layde her dead sonne in my bosome.
21 Quando me levantei de manhã para cuidar de meu filho, eis que ele estava morto; mas quando olhei para ele pela manhã, eis que não era meu filho que eu carregava”.
And when I rose in the morning to giue my sonne sucke, beholde, he was dead: and when I had well considered him in the morning, beholde, it was not my sonne, whom I had borne.
22 A outra mulher disse: “Não! Mas o vivo é meu filho, e o morto é seu filho”. O primeiro disse: “Não! Mas o morto é seu filho, e o vivo é meu filho”. Eles discutiram assim diante do rei.
Then the other woman sayd, Nay, but my sonne liueth, and thy sonne is dead. Againe she sayde, No, but thy sonne is dead, and mine aliue: thus they spake before the King.
23 Então o rei disse: “Um diz: 'Este é meu filho que vive, e seu filho é o morto;' e o outro diz: 'Não! Mas seu filho é o morto, e meu filho é o vivo'”.
Then sayde the King, She sayth, This that liueth is my sonne, and the dead is thy sonne: and the other sayth, Nay, but the dead is thy sonne, and the liuing is my sonne.
24 O rei disse: “Arranja-me uma espada”. Então eles trouxeram uma espada diante do rei.
Then the King said, Bring me a sworde: and they brought out a sworde before the King.
25 O rei disse: “Divida a criança viva em duas, e dê metade para uma, e metade para a outra”.
And the King sayde, Deuide ye the liuing child in twaine, and giue the one halfe to the one, and the other halfe to the other.
26 Então a mulher cujo filho vivo falou com o rei, pois seu coração ansiava por seu filho, e ela disse: “Oh, meu senhor, dê-lhe o filho vivo, e de modo algum mate-o! Mas o outro disse: “Ele não será nem meu nem seu”. Dividam-no”.
Then spake the woman, whose the liuing child was, vnto the King, for her compassion was kindled toward her sonne, and she sayde, Oh my lorde, giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: but the other sayde, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but deuide it.
27 Então o rei respondeu: “Dê à primeira mulher o filho vivo, e definitivamente não o mate”. Ela é sua mãe”.
Then the King answered, and sayde, Giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: this is his mother.
28 Todo Israel ouviu falar do julgamento que o rei havia julgado; e temiam o rei, pois viam que a sabedoria de Deus estava nele para fazer justiça.
And all Israel heard the iudgement, which the King had iudged, and they feared the King: for they sawe that the wisedome of God was in him to doe iustice.
