1 Crônicas 24
1 Estas eram as divisões dos filhos de Aaron. Os filhos de Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, e Ithamar.
These are the groups of the descendants of Aaron [the first Supreme Priest]: Aaron’s four sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Mas Nadab e Abihu morreram antes de seu pai e não tiveram filhos; portanto Eleazar e Ithamar serviram como sacerdotes.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father died, and they had no children. So their [younger] brothers Eleazar and Ithamar became the priests.
3 David, com Zadok dos filhos de Eleazar e Ahimelech dos filhos de Itamar, dividiu-os de acordo com sua ordem no seu serviço.
Zadok, who was a descendant of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, who was a descendant of Ithamar, helped David to separate his descendants into two groups. Each group had certain duties.
4 Foram encontrados mais homens chefes dos filhos de Eleazar do que dos filhos de Itamar; e eles foram divididos assim: dos filhos de Eleazar eram dezesseis, chefes das casas dos pais; e dos filhos de Itamar, segundo as casas dos pais, oito.
There were more leaders among the descendants of Eleazar than there were among the descendants of Ithamar. So they appointed 16 leaders from Eleazar’s descendants and eight leaders from Ithamar’s descendants.
5 Assim foram divididos imparcialmente por sorteio; pois havia príncipes do santuário e príncipes de Deus, tanto dos filhos de Eleazar, como dos filhos de Itamar.
There were temple officials and priests, including descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar, to make sure that the work was divided fairly. So they decided what work each person would do by (casting lots/throwing marked stones).
6 Semaías, filho de Nethanel, o escriba, que era dos levitas, os escreveu na presença do rei, dos príncipes, Zadoque, o sacerdote, Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, e dos chefes de família dos pais dos sacerdotes e dos levitas; uma casa dos pais foi tomada para Eleazar, e outra para Itamar.
Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel, who was a descendant of Levi, wrote down the names [of the leaders of each group] while David and his officials were watching. Zadok, the [Supreme] Priest, and Ahimelech [his assistant], and the leaders of the families of the priests and of the families of the other descendants of Levi also watched.
7 Now o primeiro lote saiu para Jehoiaribe, o segundo para Jedaiah,
Jehoiarib was the first one whose name was selected [by casting lots/throwing marked stones]. Next Jedaiah was selected.
8 o terceiro para Harim, o quarto para Seorim,
Next, Harim was selected. Next, Seorim was selected.
9 o quinto para Malchijah, o sexto para Mijamin,
Next, Malkijah was selected. Next, Mijamin was selected.
10 o sétimo para Hakkoz, o oitavo para Abijah,
Next, Hakkoz was selected. Next, Abijah was selected.
11 o nono para Jeshua, o décimo para Shecaniah,
Next, Jeshua was selected. Next, Shecaniah was selected.
12 o décimo primeiro para Eliashib, o décimo segundo para Jakim,
Next, Eliashib was selected. Next, Jakim was selected.
13 o décimo terceiro para Huppah, a décima quarta a Jeshebeab,
Next, Huppah was selected. Next, Jeshebeab was selected.
14 a décima quinta a Bilgah, a décima sexta a Immer,
Next, Bilgah was selected. Next, Immer was selected.
15 a décima sétima a Hezir, a décima oitava a Happizzez,
Next, Hezir was selected. Next, Happizzez was selected.
16 a décima nona a Pethahiah, a vigésima a Jehezkel,
Next, Pethahiah was selected. Next, Jehezkel was selected.
17 a vigésima primeira a Jachin, a vigésima segunda a Gamul,
Next, Jakin was selected. Next, Gamul was selected.
18 a vigésima terceira a Delaiah, e a vigésima quarta a Maaziah.
Next, Delaiah was selected. Next, Maaziah was selected.
19 Esta foi a ordem deles no seu serviço, para entrar na casa de Iavé, de acordo com a ordenança dada por Arão, seu pai, como Iavé, o Deus de Israel, lhe havia ordenado.
Those were the men who were chosen to be the leaders of the groups that would serve in the temple, obeying the regulations that were set down by Aaron, regulations which Yahweh, the God to whom the Israeli people belonged, had given to him.
20 Dos demais filhos de Levi: dos filhos de Amram, Shubael; dos filhos de Shubael, Jehdeiah.
[This is a list of some of] the other descendants of Levi: Amram was the ancestor of Shubael and Jehdeiah.
21 De Reabias: dos filhos de Reabias, Isshiah o chefe.
Rehabiah was the ancestor of Isshiah, the oldest son in his family.
22 Dos Izharitas, Shelomoth; dos filhos de Shelomoth, Jahath.
Izhar was the father of Shelomoth and the grandfather of Jahath.
23 Dos filhos de Hebron: Jeriah, Amariah o segundo, Jaaziel o terceiro, e Jekameam o quarto.
[Kohath’s son] Hebron had four sons: Jeriah and his [younger] brothers Amariah, Jahaziel, and Jekameam.
24 Os filhos de Uzziel: Micah; dos filhos de Micah, Shamir.
Uzziel was the father of Micah and the grandfather of Shamir.
25 O irmão de Miquéias: Isshiah; dos filhos de Isshiah, Zacarias.
Micah’s [younger] brother was the father of Zechariah.
26 Os filhos de Merari: Mahli e Mushi. O filho de Jaazias: Beno.
The sons of Merari were Mahli, Mushi, and Jaaziah.
27 Os filhos de Merari: Jaazias: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, e Ibri.
Jaaziah had four sons: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 De Mahli: Eleazar, que não teve filhos.
Mahli’s son Eleazar did not have any sons.
29 De Kish, o filho de Kish: de Jerahmeel.
From the descendants of [Mahli’s second son] there was Jerahmeel.
30 Dos filhos de Mushi: Mahli, Eder, e Jerimoth. Estes foram os filhos dos Levitas depois da casa de seus pais.
The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. Those were descendants of Levi who were listed according to the leaders of their families.
31 Estes também lançaram sortes como seus irmãos os filhos de Aarão na presença do rei Davi, Zadoque, Aimeleque, e os chefes das casas dos pais dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, as casas dos pais do chefe, assim como as de seu irmão mais novo.
The jobs they would do were decided by (casting lots/throwing marked stones), like their fellow Israelis, the descendants of Aaron, did. They cast lots {The lots were cast} while King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the leaders of the families of the priests and the [other] descendants of Levi watched. They gave the same jobs to the families of each oldest brother and each youngest brother.
