1 Crônicas 21
1 Satanás se levantou contra Israel, e levou David a fazer um censo de Israel.
And Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
2 David disse a Joab e aos príncipes do povo: “Vai, conta Israel de Beersheba até Dan; e traz-me notícias, para que eu possa saber quantos são”.
And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan, and bring me word that I may know the sum of them.
3 Joab disse: “Que Yahweh faça de seu povo cem vezes mais pessoas do que elas são. Mas, meu senhor, o rei, não são todos eles servos de meu senhor? Por que meu senhor exige isto? Por que ele será uma causa de culpa para Israel”?
And Joab said, Jehovah make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?
4 Nevertheless a palavra do rei prevaleceu contra Joab. Portanto, Joabe partiu e foi por todo Israel, depois veio a Jerusalém.
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Joabe deu a David a soma do censo do povo. Todos aqueles de Israel eram um milhão e cem mil homens que desembainharam uma espada; e em Judá eram quatrocentos e setenta mil homens que desembainharam uma espada.
And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to David. And all those of Israel were a million and a hundred thousand men who drew a sword. And Judah was four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.
6 Mas ele não contou Levi e Benjamim entre eles, pois a palavra do rei era abominável a Joabe.
But he did not count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
7 Deus estava descontente com esta coisa; por isso, ele atingiu Israel.
And God was displeased with this thing, therefore he smote Israel.
8 David disse a Deus: “Eu pequei muito, porque fiz esta coisa. Mas agora ponha de lado, peço-lhe, a iniqüidade de seu servo, pois fiz muito loucamente”.
And David said to God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant, for I have done very foolishly.
9 Yahweh falou com Gad, o vidente de David, dizendo:
And Jehovah spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,
10 “Vá e fale com David, dizendo: 'Yahweh diz: “Eu lhe ofereço três coisas. Escolha uma delas, para que eu possa fazer isso com você”””.
Go and speak to David, saying, Thus says Jehovah, I offer thee three things. Choose thee one of them, that I may do it to thee.
11 Então Gad veio a David e lhe disse: “Javé diz: 'Faça sua escolha:
So Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus says Jehovah, Take which thou will:
12 ou três anos de fome; ou três meses para ser consumido antes de seus inimigos, enquanto a espada de seus inimigos o domina; ou então três dias da espada de Javé, mesmo a pestilência na terra, e o anjo de Javé destruindo por todas as fronteiras de Israel. Agora, portanto, considere que resposta devo dar àquele que me enviou”.
either three years of famine, or three months to be consumed before thy foes while the sword of thine enemies overtakes thee, or else three days the sword of Jehovah, even pestilence in the land, and the agent of Jehovah destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.
13 David disse a Gad: “Estou em apuros. Deixe-me cair, eu rezo, nas mãos de Yahweh, pois suas misericórdias são muito grandes. Não me deixem cair nas mãos do homem”.
And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait. Let me fall, I pray, into the hand of Jehovah, for his mercies are very great, and let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 Então Javé enviou uma pestilência sobre Israel, e setenta mil homens de Israel caíram.
So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel, and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 Deus enviou um anjo a Jerusalém para destruí-lo. Quando ele estava prestes a destruir, Javé viu, e se arrependeu do desastre, e disse ao anjo destruidor: “Basta”. Agora retire sua mão”. O anjo de Javé estava parado junto à eira de Ornan, o jebuseu.
And God sent an agent to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was about to destroy, Jehovah beheld, and he relented of the evil, and said to the destroying agent, It is enough. Now halt thy hand. And the agent of Jehovah was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 David levantou os olhos e viu o anjo de Javé de pé entre a terra e o céu, com uma espada desembainhada na mão estendida sobre Jerusalém. Então David e os anciãos, vestidos de pano de saco, caíram de cara.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the agent of Jehovah standing between earth and heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 David disse a Deus: “Não fui eu quem ordenou que o povo fosse contado? Fui eu mesmo que pequei e fiz muito mal; mas essas ovelhas, o que elas fizeram? Por favor, deixe sua mão, ó Yahweh meu Deus, estar contra mim e contra a casa de meu pai; mas não contra seu povo, que eles devem ser atormentados”.
And David said to God, Is it not I who commanded the people to be numbered? Even I it is who have sinned and done very badly. But these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, O Jehovah my God, be against me, and against my father's house, but not against thy people, that they should be plagued.
18 Então o anjo de Yahweh ordenou a Gad que dissesse a David que David deveria subir e levantar um altar para Yahweh na eira de Ornan, o jebusita.
Then the agent of Jehovah commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up, and rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 David subiu ao dizer de Gad, que ele falou em nome de Yahweh.
And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Jehovah.
20 Ornan voltou atrás e viu o anjo; e seus quatro filhos que estavam com ele se esconderam. Agora Ornan estava debulhando o trigo.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the agent, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 Quando David chegou a Ornan, Ornan olhou e viu David, e saiu da eira, e se curvou diante de David com seu rosto no chão.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
22 Então David disse a Ornan: “Venda-me o lugar desta eira, para que eu possa construir um altar para Yahweh sobre ela”. Vendê-lo-eis a mim pelo preço total, para que a praga possa ser impedida de afligir o povo”.
Then David said to Ornan, Give me the place of this threshing-floor, that I may build thereon an altar to Jehovah. For the full price thou shall give it me, that the plague may be stopped from the people.
23 Ornan disse a David: “Tome para si e deixe meu senhor, o rei, fazer o que é bom aos seus olhos”. Eis que eu dou os bois para as ofertas queimadas, e os instrumentos de debulha para a madeira, e o trigo para a oferta de farinha”. Eu dou tudo”.
And Ornan said to David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Lo, I give thee the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.
24 O rei David disse a Ornan: “Não, mas certamente vou comprá-lo pelo preço total. Pois não aceitarei o que é seu por Yahweh, nem oferecerei uma oferta queimada que não me custa nada”.
And king David said to Ornan, No, but I will truly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is thine for Jehovah, nor offer a burnt offering without cost.
25 Então David deu a Ornan seiscentos shekels de ouro em peso para o local.
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
26 David construiu ali um altar para Yahweh, e ofereceu holocaustos e ofertas de paz, e chamou Yahweh; e respondeu-lhe do céu pelo fogo sobre o altar de holocaustos.
And David built there an altar to Jehovah, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon Jehovah. And he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
27 Então Yahweh comandou o anjo, e ele colocou sua espada de volta em sua bainha.
And Jehovah commanded the agent, and he put up his sword again into the sheath of it.
28 Naquele tempo, quando David viu que Yahweh tinha respondido a ele na eira de Ornan, o jebusita, então ele se sacrificou lá.
At that time, when David saw that Jehovah had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Pois o tabernáculo de Iavé, que Moisés fez no deserto, e o altar de holocausto, estavam naquela época no alto de Gibeon.
For the tabernacle of Jehovah, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Mas Davi não podia ir diante dele para perguntar a Deus, pois tinha medo por causa da espada do anjo de Iavé.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of the agent of Jehovah.
