Apocalipse 18
1 Depois, vi outro anjo que descia do céu. Ele tinha grande poder, e a terra ficou iluminada por sua glória.
After these things, I saw another messenger, coming down out of heaven, —having great authority; and, the earth, was illumined with his glory.
2 Ele gritou com uma voz poderosa: “Babilônia, a grandiosa, virou ruínas! Ela se tornou um lugar em que os demônios vivem, o refúgio de todo espírito impuro e o ninho de toda ave imunda e detestável.
And he cried out, with a mighty voice, saying—Fallen! fallen! is Babylon the Great, and hath become a habitation of demons, and a prison of every impure spirit, and a prison of every impure and hated bird;
3 Pois todas as nações beberam do vinho de sua imoralidade sem limites. Os reis da terra cometeram adultério com ela, e os comerciantes do mundo enriqueceram com a sua sensualidade excessiva.”
Because, by reason [of the wine] of the wrath of her lewdness, have all the nations fallen, and, the kings of the earth, with her, did commit lewdness, and, the merchants of the earth, by reason of the power of her wantonness, waxed rich.
4 Então, ouvi outra voz vinda do céu, gritando: “Meu povo, saia dela, saiam todos dessa cidade, para que vocês não façam parte de seus pecados e não sofram com as pragas que serão enviadas contra ela.
And I heard another voice out of heaven, saying—Come forth, my people, out of her, —that ye may have no fellowship with her sins, and, of her plagues, that ye may not receive;
5 Os seus pecados estão se acumulando e chegam até o céu, e Deus está bem consciente do mal que ela causou.
because her sins were joined together as far as heaven, and God hath remembered her unrighteous deeds.
6 Dêem a ela tudo o que ela lhes deu. Paguem em dobro o que ela fez. Misturem na bebida do cálice dela o dobro de aflições que ela colocou na bebida de outros.
Render ye unto her, as, she also, rendered, and double [the] double, according to her works, —in the cup wherein she mixed, mix, unto her, double, —
7 Assim como ela se vangloriava de si mesma e satisfazia os seus desejos, devolvam a ela outro tanto de angústia e de sofrimento. Ela dizia para si mesma: ‘Eu reino como rainha. Eu não sou viúva; eu nunca irei sofrer.’
As much as she glorified herself, and waxed wanton, so much give, unto her, torment and grief: —because, in her heart, she saith—I sit a Queen, and, widow, am I not, and, grief, in nowise shall I see!
8 E por isso, as pragas dela virão todas juntas, para atacá-la no mesmo dia: morte, tristeza e fome. Ela será completamente destruída pelo fogo, pois o Senhor Deus, que a condena, tem grande poder.
Therefore, in one day, shall have come her plagues, —death and grief and famine; and, with fire, shall she be burned up; —because, mighty, is the [Lord] God who hath judged her.
9 Os reis do mundo, que cometeram adultério e satisfizeram os seus desejos com ela, irão chorar e se lamentar por ela, quando virem a fumaça do fogo que a consome.
And they shall weep and wail over her—shall the kings of the earth who, with her, committed lewdness and waxed wanton, —as soon as they see the smoke of her burning, —
10 E eles, que se mantêm a uma certa distância, pois têm medo de sofrer o mesmo que ela, dizem: ‘Desastre! Que desastre se abateu sobre a Babilônia, a grande cidade! Em apenas uma hora a sua sentença de condenação foi cumprida!’
afar off, standing, because of their fear of her torment, saying—Alas! alas! the great city! Babylon, the mighty city! That, in one hour, hath come thy judgment.
11 Os comerciantes da terra choram e sofrem por causa dela, pois ninguém mais está comprando as suas mercadorias.
And, the merchants of the earth, weep and grieve over her, because, their cargo, no one, buyeth any more:
12 Ninguém mais compra o seu ouro, prata, pedras preciosas e pérolas, nem o puro linho, os tecidos de cor púrpura, a seda e nem a lã vermelha, muito menos os objetos feitos de madeira perfumada, marfim, de madeiras caras, bronze, ferro ou mármore.
cargo of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and every article of ivory, and every article of wood most precious, and of copper, and of iron, and of marble,
13 Eles não conseguem mais vender as suas cargas de canela, temperos, incenso, mirra, perfumes, vinho, azeite, farinha de trigo e grãos de trigo, nem o gado e nem ovelhas, cavalos e nem carruagens e muito menos escravos e prisioneiros.
and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and unguent, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and [cargo] of horses, and of chariots, and of bodies, and lives of men.
14 Você perdeu os doces prazeres que tanto amava. E tudo o que possuía, que era tão luxuoso e brilhante, se foi e você nunca mais poderá desfrutar disso novamente.
And, the fruit of the coveting of thy soul, hath departed from thee, and, all things rich and bright, have perished from thee; and, no more, in anywise, for them, shall they seek.
15 Os comerciantes, que vendiam essas coisas naquela cidade e que se tornaram ricos ao comercializarem com ela, ficarão vendo a sua ruína a uma certa distância, pois eles têm medo de sofrer as mesmas consequências que ela sofre. Eles irão chorar e se lamentar, dizendo:
The merchants of these things, who were enriched by her, afar off, shall stand, because of their fear of her torment, weeping, and grieving,
16 ‘Desastre! Que desastre atingiu a grandiosa cidade! Ela estava vestida com um manto púrpura de linho fino e usava joias feitas de ouro, pedras preciosas e pérolas.
as they say—Alas! alas! the great city! She that was arrayed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stone, and pearl, —
17 Em apenas uma hora, toda essa riqueza foi destruída!’ Todos os capitães de navios, passageiros, marinheiros e todos que tiram o seu sustento do mar permaneceram a uma certa distância.
That, in one hour, hath been laid waste, such great wealth as this! And, every pilot, and every passenger, and mariners, and as many as, by the sea, carry on traffic, afar off did stand,
18 Enquanto eles viam a fumaça do fogo que a destruía, eles gritaram: ‘Que cidade poderia se comparar a essa grandiosa cidade!’
and they cried out, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying—What city is like unto the great city?
19 Eles jogavam cinzas sobre a cabeça, chorando e gritando: ‘Desastre! Que desastre se abateu sobre a grandiosa cidade, que tornou ricos todos os donos de navio, por causa de sua grande riqueza! Em apenas uma hora, ela foi completamente destruída!’
And they cast dust upon their heads, and cried out, weeping and grieving, saying—Alas! alas! the great city! Whereby were made rich all that had ships in the sea, by reason of her costliness, —that, in one hour, she hath been laid waste!
20 Que o céu, os irmãos na fé, os apóstolos e os profetas comemorem o que aconteceu a ela, pois Deus a condenou da mesma forma que ela os condenou.”
Be glad over her, thou heaven! And ye saints, and ye apostles, and ye prophets! For that God hath exacted your vindication from her.
21 Um anjo poderoso pegou uma rocha do tamanho de uma grande pedra de moinho e a jogou no mar, dizendo: “Com igual violência, Babilônia, a grandiosa cidade, será destruída e nunca mais existirá!”
And one mighty messenger lifted a stone, as it were a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying—Thus, with main force, shall be cast down, Babylon the great city, —and in nowise be found any more;
22 “Nunca mais será ouvido o som de música vindo de você: o som de harpas, de cantores, de flautas e de trombetas. Nunca mais se verá em suas ruas o vai e vem de artesãos ou de qualquer outro tipo de trabalhador. Nunca mais se ouvirá o som de um moinho em funcionamento, vindo de dentro dos seus muros.
And sound of harp-singers, and musicians, and flute-players, and trumpeters, —in nowise be heard in thee any more; and any artisan [of any art], —in nowise be found in thee any more; and sound of millstone, —in nowise be found in thee any more;
23 Nunca mais a luz de um lampião irá brilhar em você. Nunca mais as vozes alegres de noivos e noivas serão ouvidas em você. Os seus comerciantes já foram os líderes do mundo. Por sua feitiçaria, você conseguiu enganar todas as nações.
And light of lamp, —in nowise shine in thee any more; and voice of bridegroom and bride, —in nowise be heard in thee any more; because, thy merchants, were the great ones of the earth, because, with thy sorcery, were all the nations deceived:
24 Nela encontrou-se o sangue dos profetas, o sangue do povo de Deus e de todos aqueles que foram mortos no mundo.”
And, in her, blood of prophets and saints, was found, —and of all who had been slain upon the earth.
