Hebreus 11
1 A nossa fé em Deus é a garantia do que nós esperamos e a prova das coisas que não podemos ver.
Now faith is a realization of things being hoped for, an evidence of things not seen.
2 As pessoas que viveram há muito tempo tiveram fé em Deus e, por isso, ganharam a sua aprovação.
By it the ancients were approved.
3 Por meio de nossa fé em Deus, compreendemos que todo o universo foi criado pela palavra de Deus, e que aquilo que pode ser visto foi criado a partir daquilo que não conseguimos ver. (aiōn g165)
By faith we understand that the ages were created by a word from God, so that the things that are seen were made out of things invisible. (aiōn g165)
4 E foi pela fé que Abel ofereceu a Deus um sacrifício melhor do que o de Caim e, por isso, ele obteve a aprovação de Deus, como alguém que tinha vivido de forma justa. Deus demonstrou isso ao aceitar a sua oferta. Mesmo que Abel tenha morrido já há muito tempo, ele ainda fala conosco por meio do que ele fez.
By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than did Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying concerning his gifts; and by means of it he still speaks, even though being dead.
5 Também foi pela fé em Deus que Enoque foi levado ao céu, para escapar da morte. As pessoas não o encontraram aqui na terra, porque Deus o levou para o céu. Antes disso ter acontecido, ele era conhecido como alguém que agradava a Deus.
By faith Enoch was transferred so as not to see death, and could not be found because God had translated him; before his translation he had obtained witness that he was pleasing to God.
6 Não esperem agradar a Deus se não tiverem fé nele! Qualquer um que se aproxima de Deus deve crer que ele existe e que recompensa quem está buscando por Ele.
Now without faith it is impossible to please Him, because the one approaching God must believe that He exists and that He becomes a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.
7 Noé tinha fé em Deus e foi alertado por ele a respeito de coisas que nunca tinham acontecido antes. Por Noé ter levado suficientemente a sério o que Deus disse, ele construiu uma arca para salvar a sua família. Foi por sua fé em Deus que Noé demonstrou que o mundo todo estava errado e foi por causa de sua fé que recebeu a recompensa de ser aprovado por Deus.
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that is according to faith.
8 Pela fé em Deus, Abraão obedeceu quando Deus o chamou para ir para a terra que estava dando a ele. Ele saiu sem saber para aonde iria.
By faith Abraham, upon being called to go forth to the place that he would receive as an inheritance, obeyed and went, though not being acquainted with where he was going.
9 Pela fé em Deus, ele morou na terra prometida, mas como estrangeiro, morando em tendas, juntamente com Isaque e Jacó, que compartilhavam com ele a herança que vinha da mesma promessa que Deus tinha feito.
By faith he migrated into the land of promise as into a foreign country, dwelling in tents, along with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise;
10 Pois Abraão estava esperando por uma cidade construída sobre as fundações que duram para sempre e que tem Deus como seu construtor e criador.
for he was waiting expectantly for the city with the real foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
11 Por sua fé em Deus, até mesmo Sara recebeu a capacidade de conceber um filho, embora ela fosse bastante idosa. E isso aconteceu porque ela teve fé em que Deus cumpriria a sua promessa.
By faith Sarah herself also received power to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the normal age, since she judged Him faithful who had promised.
12 E é por isso que os descendentes de Abraão, que também já era idoso, se tornaram tão numerosos quanto as estrelas do céu e incontáveis como os grãos de areia da praia.
And so from one man, actually an impotent, were begotten descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
13 Todos eles morreram cheios de fé em Deus. Embora eles não tivessem recebido as coisas que Deus tinha prometido, ainda estavam aguardando por isso. E quando as viram de longe, alegraram-se, pois reconheceram que nessa terra eles eram estrangeiros, pessoas que estavam apenas de passagem.
These all died believing—not having received the promises, but having seen and welcomed them from a distance, thus confessing that they were aliens and sojourners on the earth.
14 As pessoas que dizem coisas assim, deixam claro que estão procurando um país para chamar de lar.
Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
15 Pois, se eles se importassem com o país do qual saíram, poderiam simplesmente ter voltado para lá.
If they were actually remembering that land from which they had departed, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 Mas, pelo contrário, eles buscavam um país melhor, um país celestial. E é por isso que Deus não se decepcionou com eles. E está feliz por eles o chamarem de seu Deus, pois ele construiu uma cidade para eles.
Instead they are aspiring to a better home—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; in fact He has prepared a city for them.
17 Abraão creu em Deus quando foi testado e ofereceu Isaque como sacrifício para Deus. Abraão, que aceitou as promessas de Deus, continuava disposto a oferecer para Deus o seu único filho.
By faith Abraham, upon being tested, offered up Isaac; yes, he who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his only begotten,
18 Deus lhe tinha dito: “É por meio de Isaque que você terá os descendentes que lhe prometi.”
of whom it had been said, “Through Isaac will your seed be reckoned,”
19 Abraão pensou sobre isso e chegou à conclusão de que Deus poderia até ressuscitar Isaque. E, de certa forma, foi isso o que aconteceu, pois Abraão recebeu o seu filho Isaque de volta dos mortos.
calculating that God was indeed able to raise him from the dead; from whence in fact he did receive him, figuratively speaking.
20 Pela fé em Deus, Isaque abençoou Jacó e Esaú em relação ao futuro que os aguardava.
By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 Pela fé em Deus, Jacó, quando estava quase morrendo, abençoou cada um dos filhos de José e, apoiado em seu bastão, ele adorou a Deus.
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph's sons and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.
22 Pela fé em Deus, José também, quando a sua própria morte se aproximava, falou a respeito da saída dos israelitas do Egito. Ele deu orientações sobre o que deveria ser feito com os seus ossos.
By faith Joseph, near the end, thought of the exodus of the sons of Israel and gave orders concerning his bones.
23 Pela fé em Deus, os pais de Moisés o esconderam por três meses, após o seu nascimento. Eles perceberam que ele era uma criança especial. Eles não tiveram medo de ir contra as ordens do rei.
By faith Moses was hidden for three months by his parents, after he was born, because they saw he was a fine child, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
24 Pela fé em Deus, Moisés, quando se tornou adulto, recusou-se a ser conhecido como o filho da filha do Faraó.
By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
25 Pelo contrário, ele preferiu sofrer junto com o povo de Deus, em vez de aproveitar os prazeres temporários do pecado.
choosing rather to be maltreated along with God's people than to have the temporary pleasure of sin,
26 Ele considerou a rejeição que sofreu por seguir a Cristo como uma riqueza muito mais importante do que a que ele teria no Egito. E isso porque ele estava focado na recompensa que estava por vir.
considering the reproach of Christ to be greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; because he was looking ahead to the reward.
27 Pela fé em Deus, Moisés deixou o Egito e, sem temer a fúria do Faraó, ele manteve os seus olhos fixos no Deus invisível.
By faith he left Egypt behind, not fearing the king's rage, because he persevered as though seeing Him who is invisible.
28 Pela fé em Deus, ele celebrou a Páscoa e marcou a casa dos israelitas com sangue, para que o anjo da destruição não os tocasse.
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch them.
29 Tendo fé em Deus, os israelitas cruzaram o mar Vermelho como se ali fosse terra firme. Quando os egípcios tentaram fazer o mesmo, eles se afogaram.
By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry ground, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were swallowed up.
30 Pela fé em Deus, os israelitas marcharam em volta das muralhas de Jericó durante sete dias, e elas caíram.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, having been encircled for seven days.
31 Por ter fé em Deus, Raabe, a prostituta, não morreu com aqueles que rejeitaram a Deus, pois ela recebeu os espiões israelitas sem lhes causar problemas.
By faith the prostitute Rahab, having received the spies in peace, did not perish with the disobedient.
32 Que outros exemplos eu deveria dar? Eu não tenho mais tempo para falar de Gideão, de Baraque, de Sansão, de Jefté, de Davi, de Samuel e dos profetas.
And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell about Gideon, about Barak and Samson and Jephtha, about David and Samuel and the prophets,
33 Por causa de sua fé em Deus, eles conquistaram reinos. Fizeram o que era bom e justo e, assim, receberam o que Deus tinha prometido. Fecharam as bocas dos leões
who through faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, closed lions' mouths,
34 e apagaram grandes incêndios. Escaparam de morrer pela espada. Eram fracos, mas se tornaram fortes. Demonstraram coragem durante as batalhas e fizeram os exércitos inimigos fugirem.
quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became mighty in battle, put to flight foreign armies.
35 Por meio da ressurreição, mulheres receberam de volta os seus parentes mortos. Outros foram torturados, recusando aceitar um acordo para serem perdoados, pois eles queriam fazer parte da ressurreição para uma vida melhor.
Women received their dead back by resurrection; while others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, so that they might obtain a better resurrection.
36 Outros ainda foram insultados e chicoteados, acorrentados e colocados na cadeia.
Still others were tried by mockings and scourgings, and even by chains and imprisonment.
37 Alguns foram apedrejados, serrados pelo meio, provados e mortos pela espada. Alguns se vestiram com peles de ovelhas e de cabras. Eram pobres, oprimidos e maltratados.
They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they were tempted, they were murdered by sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, mistreated
38 O mundo não era digno de ter pessoas como aquelas. Eles andavam pelos desertos e pelas montanhas, viviam em cavernas e em buracos feitos no chão.
—of whom the world was not worthy—wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.
39 Todas essas pessoas, embora tivessem a aprovação de Deus, não receberam em vida o que Deus tinha prometido.
Now all these did not receive the promise, though having been approved through faith,
40 Deus nos deu algo ainda melhor, para que elas não pudessem estar completas sem nós.
God having planned something better for us, so that they should not be perfected without us.
