2 Coríntios 10
1 Eu, Paulo, peço a vocês, pela bondade e gentileza de Cristo, eu que sou “tímido” quando estou com vocês, mas que sou “duro” quando estou longe,
Moreover, I, Paul, myself, exhort you, through the meekness and considerateness of the Christ, —I who, to look upon, indeed, am lowly toward you, but, absent, am bold towards you; —
2 sim, imploro a vocês para que, da próxima vez que eu for visitá-los, não tenha que ser tão duro quanto eu acho que precisarei ser. Eu lido com coragem com aqueles que acham que nós nos comportamos seguindo padrões humanos.
I entreat, however, that, when present, I may not be bold with the assurance wherewith I think to be daring against some who account of us as though, according to flesh, we were walking, —
3 Mesmo que nós vivamos neste mundo, não lutamos da mesma maneira que o mundo.
For, though, in flesh, we walk, not, according to flesh, do we war, —
4 Nossas armas não são daqui, pois usamos o grande poder de Deus, que destrói fortalezas do pensamento humano, demolindo teorias falsas.
For, the weapons of our warfare, are not fleshly, but mighty, by God, unto a pulling down of strongholds, —
5 Toda muralha alta que fica firme contra o conhecimento de Deus é derrubada. Toda ideia rebelde é capturada e trazida obedientemente diante de Cristo.
When we pull down, calculations, and every height that uplifteth itself against the knowledge of God, and when we bring into captivity every thought unto the obedience of the Christ,
6 Quando vocês estiverem completamente obedientes a Cristo, nós estaremos prontos para punir qualquer desobediência.
And when we hold ourselves, in readiness, to avenge all disobedience, as soon as your obedience shall be fulfilled!
7 Observem o que está evidente. Aquele que considera que pertence a Cristo deveria pensar novamente, pois nós também pertencemos a Cristo da mesma forma que ele pertence.
The things that lie on the surface, ye are looking at: —if anyone hath come to trust in himself that he is, Christ’s, this, let him reckon, again, with himself—that, even as, he, is Christ’s, so, also are, we.
8 Embora eu possa parecer estar me vangloriando um pouco demais da nossa autoridade, não me sinto constrangido a respeito disso. O Senhor nos deu essa autoridade para que fizéssemos vocês crescerem na fé e, não, para derrubá-los.
Yea, if, somewhat more abundantly, I should boast concerning our authority—which the Lord hath given for building up and not for pulling you down, I shall not be put to shame, —
9 Eu não estou tentando assustar vocês com as minhas cartas.
That I may not seem as though I would be terrifying you through means of my letters;
10 As pessoas dizem: “As cartas dele são rudes e severas. No entanto, pessoalmente, ele é fraco e, ao falar, suas palavras são um fracasso.”
Because, The letters, it is true (saith one), are weighty and strong, but, the presence of the body, is weak, and, the discourse, contemptible; —
11 Esse tipo de pessoa deveria perceber que o que dizemos em cartas quando não estamos presentes, nós iremos cumprir quando estivermos aí com vocês.
This, let such a one reckon—that, what we are, in our word, through means of letters, being absent, such, also, being present, are we, in our deed.
12 Não somos tão arrogantes para nos comparar com aquelas pessoas que só pensam em si mesmas. Aqueles que se medem e se comparam a si mesmos são realmente tolos!
For we dare not class or compare ourselves with some who do, themselves, commend; but, they, among themselves, measuring, themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without discernment!
13 Mas, nós não vamos nos orgulhar de modo tão pretensioso, extrapolando os limites. Nós apenas medimos o que fazemos, usando o sistema de medição que Deus nos deu e que inclui vocês.
We, however, not as to the things without measure, will boast ourselves, but, according to the measure of the limit which God apportioned unto us, as a measure—to reach as far as even you!
14 Nós não estamos estendendo nossa autoridade para além do limite ao dizer isso, como se não tivéssemos chegado até vocês, pois chegamos até vocês e anunciamos o evangelho de Cristo.
For, not as though we were not reaching unto you, are we over-stretching ourselves, for, as far as even you, were we beforehand in the glad-message of the Christ:
15 Não estamos exagerando em relação ao que fizemos e que nos dá orgulho e também não pedimos crédito pelo que outras pessoas fizeram. Pelo contrário, esperamos que, conforme a sua fé em Deus cresça, o nosso trabalho entre vocês aumente muito mais.
Not, as to the things without measure, boasting ourselves in other men’s toils, but having, hope—your faith, growing—among you, to be enlarged, according to our limit for something beyond, —
16 E, então, poderemos anunciar o evangelho em lugares além da região em que vocês moram, mas sem entrar em lugares em que o trabalho já esteja sendo realizado por outros.
Unto the regions beyond you, to carry the glad-message: not, within another man’s limit, as to the things made ready, to boast ourselves.
17 “Se alguém quer demonstrar orgulho, que se orgulhe do Senhor.”
He that boasteth, however, in the Lord, let him boast;
18 Não são respeitados aqueles que se elogiam e, sim, aqueles que o Senhor elogia.
For, not he that commendeth himself, he, is approved, but he whom, the Lord, doth commend.
