Romanos 6
1 Que diremos, pois? Continuaremos no pecado, para que a graça aumente?
What shall we say then? Let us continue in sin, that grace may abound still more?
2 De maneira nenhuma! Nós, que morremos para o pecado, como ainda viveremos nele?
God forbid! How shall we, who died to sin, live any longer in it?
3 Ou não sabeis que todos os que somos batizados em Cristo Jesus, somos batizados em sua morte?
Are ye ignorant, that all of us who were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into his death?
4 Por isso, estamos sepultados com ele pelo batismo na morte; para que, assim como Cristo ressuscitou dos mortos para a glória do Pai, assim também nós andemos em novidade de vida.
We then by this baptism into his death were buried with him; that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
5 Pois, se fomos unidos [a ele] na semelhança de sua morte, também o seremos na da [sua] ressurreição.
For if we have been made completely like him in his death, we shall be made like him in his resurrection also;
6 E sabemos isto: que o nosso velho ser foi crucificado com [ele], para que o corpo do pecado seja extinto, a fim de que não mais sirvamos ao pecado;
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin;
7 pois o que está morto já está absolvido do pecado.
for he that hath died hath been set free from sin.
8 Ora, se já morremos com Cristo, cremos que também com ele viveremos.
And if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;
9 Porque sabemos que, depois que Cristo foi ressuscitado dos mortos, já não morre mais; a morte já não mais o domina.
since we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath dominion over him no longer.
10 Pois, ao morrer, ele morreu para o pecado de uma vez por todas; mas, ao viver, vive para Deus.
For in that he died, he died to sin once for all; but in that he liveth, he liveth to God.
11 Assim também vós, considerai que estais mortos para o pecado, mas vivendo para Deus, em Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
Thus do ye too consider yourselves as dead to sin, but alive to God, through Jesus Christ.
12 Portanto, não reine o pecado em vosso corpo mortal, para obedecer a ele em seus maus desejos.
Let not then sin reign in your mortal body, bringing you into subjection to its lusts,
13 Nem apresenteis os membros do vosso corpo ao pecado como instrumentos de injustiça; em vez disso, apresentai-vos a Deus, como vivos dentre os mortos, e vossos membros como instrumentos de justiça para Deus.
nor yield up your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but yield up yourselves to God, as being alive from the dead, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
14 Pois o pecado não vos dominará, porque não estais sob a Lei, mas sim, sob a graça.
For sin shall not hold dominion over you; for ye are not under the Law, but under grace.
15 Então, quê? Pecaremos, já que não estamos sob a Lei, mas sob a graça? De maneira nenhuma!
What then? Are we to sin, because we are not under the Law, but under grace? God forbid!
16 Não sabeis vós, que a quem vos apresentardes por servos para obedecer, sois servos daquele a quem obedeceis? Ou do pecado para a morte, ou da obediência para a justiça.
Know ye not, that whomever ye choose to obey as a master, his bondmen ye are, whether of sin whose fruit is death, or of obedience whose fruit is righteousness?
17 Porém, graças a Deus que vós éreis servos do pecado, mas [agora], de coração obedeceis à forma de doutrina a que vós fostes entregues;
But thanks be to God that, though ye were the bondmen of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching which was delivered to you;
18 e, sendo libertos do pecado, vos tornastes servos da justiça.
and being made free from sin, ye became the bondmen of righteousness.
19 Estou falando na lógica humana, pela fraqueza de vossa carne. Pois, assim como apresentastes os membros do vosso corpo como servos da impureza e da maldade para a maldade, assim também apresentai agora os vossos membros como servos da justiça para a santificação.
I speak in a way common among men on account of the weakness of your flesh. For as ye once yielded your members as slaves to impurity and to iniquity, in order to commit iniquity, so now yield your members as bondmen to righteousness in order to become holy.
20 Porque quando éreis servos do pecado, estáveis livres da justiça.
For when ye were the slaves of sin, ye were not the bondmen of righteousness.
21 Afinal, que fruto obtivestes das coisas de que agora vos envergonhais? Pois o fim delas é a morte.
What fruit then had ye at that time from those things of which ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
22 Mas agora, libertos do pecado, e feitos servos de Deus, tendes o vosso fruto para a santificação, e por fim a vida eterna; (aiōnios g166)
But now having been delivered from the slavery of sin, and having become the bondservants of God, ye have holiness as the fruit, and everlasting life as the end. (aiōnios g166)
