Romanos 2

1 Por isso, tu, que julgas, não tens desculpa; quem quer que sejas! Pois condenas a ti mesmo naquilo que julgas o outro, porque tu, que julgas, fazes as mesmas coisas.

For which reason, you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are, that judge; for in that in which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge, practice the same things.

2 E sabemos que o julgamento de Deus é segundo a verdade sobre os que fazem tais coisas.

But we know that the judgment of God against those who practice such things, is according to truth.

3 E tu, humano, que julgas os que praticam tais coisas, ao fazê-las, pensas que escaparás do julgamento de Deus?

But do you, O man, who judge those that practice such things, and yet do the same, conclude that you will escape the judgment of God?

4 Ou desprezas tu as riquezas de sua bondade, tolerância, e paciência, ignorando que é a bondade de Deus que te conduz ao arrependimento?

Or, do you despise the riches of his goodness, and his forbearance, and his long suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

5 Mas, conforme a tua dureza e o teu coração que não se arrepende, tu ajuntas ira para ti no dia da ira e da manifestação do justo julgamento de Deus,

But, according to your hard and impenitent heart, you treasure up to yourself wrath for a day of wrath, and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

6 que recompensará a cada um segundo as suas obras:

who will render to every man according to his works;

7 vida eterna aos que procuram glória, honra, e imortalidade, fazendo o bem com perseverança; (aiōnios g166)

to those who, by patient continuance in good works, seek for glory and honor and incorruptibility, eternal life: (aiōnios g166)

8 mas ira e indignação aos que agem com egoísmo, obedecendo à injustiça, e não à verdade.

but to those who are contentious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, anger and wrath,

9 Haverá aflição e angústia a toda pessoa que pratica o mal, primeiramente ao judeu, e também ao grego;

affliction and distress, upon every soul of man that practices what is evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek:

10 porém, glória, honra, e paz, a todo aquele que pratica o bem, primeiramente ao judeu, e também ao grego;

but glory and honor and peace to every one that practices what is good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:

11 porque com Deus não há acepção de pessoas.

for there is no respect of persons with God.

12 Pois todos os que sem Lei pecaram, sem Lei também perecerão; e todos os que pecaram sob a Lei, pela Lei serão julgados;

For as many as have sinned without law, shall also perish without law; and as many as have sinned under law, shall be judged by law,

13 porque não são os que ouvem a Lei que são justos diante de Deus, mas sim, os que praticam a Lei que serão justificados.

in the day when God shall judge the secret works of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

14 Pois quando os gentios, que não têm a Lei, praticam naturalmente as coisas que são da Lei, estes, ainda que não tenham a Lei, são lei para si mesmos.

For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

15 Eles mostram a obra da Lei escrita em seus corações, dando-lhes testemunho juntamente a sua consciência, e os pensamentos, ora acusando-os, ora defendendo-os.

For when the Gentiles, who have not a law, do, by nature, the things of the law, these who have not a law, are a law to themselves,

16 Isso acontecerá no dia em que Deus julgará os segredos dos seres humanos por meio de Cristo Jesus, conforme o meu Evangelho.

who show that the work which the law requires, is written in their hearts, their conscience bearing testimony, and their reasonings with each other accusing, or making excuse.

17 Mas se tu és chamado de judeu, e descansas confiando na Lei, e te orgulhas em Deus,

But if you are named Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast in God.

18 conheces a vontade [dele], e aprovas as melhores coisas, por seres instruído na lei;

and know his will, and approve what is excellent, being instructed by the law:

19 e confias ser guia dos cegos, luz dos que estão nas trevas,

if you are also confident that you yourself are a guide for the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

20 instrutor dos tolos, professor das crianças, e que consideras a lei como a forma do conhecimento e da verdade;

an instructor of the simple, a teacher of the unlearned, because you have the form of true knowledge in the law;

21 tu, pois, que ensinas ao outro, não ensinas a ti mesmo? Tu que pregas que não se deve furtar, furtas?

you, then, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?

22 Tu que dizes que não se deve adulterar, adulteras? Tu que odeias os ídolos, profanas templos?

You who say that a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob temples?

23 Tu, que te orgulhas da Lei, pela transgressão da Lei desonras a Deus;

You who make your boast in the law, do you, by transgressing the law, dishonor God?

24 porque, como está escrito: “O nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por vossa causa”.

For the name of God is reviled among the Gentiles, on account of you, as it is written.

25 Pois a circuncisão tem proveito de fato se guardares a Lei; porém, se tu és transgressor da Lei, a tua circuncisão se torna incircuncisão.

Now, circumcision is indeed profitable, if you keep the law: but, if you transgress the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

26 Ora, se o incircunciso obedecer às exigências da Lei, por acaso não será a sua incircuncisão considerada como circuncisão?

If, then, he who is uncircumcised keeps the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

27 E se o que de natureza é incircunciso cumprir a Lei, ele julgará a ti, que mesmo com a norma escrita e a circuncisão és transgressor da Lei.

And shall not he whose want of circumcision is owing to his birth, if he keeps the law, condemn you, who, by the literal circumcision, transgress the law?

28 Pois judeu não é o de aparência externa, nem circuncisão é a na carne,

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:

29 mas é judeu o que é no interior, e circuncisão é a de coração, no espírito, e não em uma norma escrita. Esse é elogiado não pelas pessoas, mas sim, por Deus.

but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not of men, but of God.
