Salmos 79
1 Salmo de Asafe: Ó Deus, as nações invadiram a tua herança; contaminaram ao teu santo Templo; tornaram Jerusalém em amontoados de ruínas.
A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance: thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps.
2 Deram os cadáveres dos teus servos por comida para as aves dos céus; a carne dos teus consagrados aos animais da terra.
The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowl of the heavens, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth:
3 Derramaram o sangue deles como água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não havia quem os enterrasse.
Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem, and there was none to bury [them].
4 Somos humilhados pelos nossos vizinhos; zombados e escarnecidos pelos que estão ao nosso redor.
We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a mockery and a derision to them that are round about us.
5 Até quando, SENHOR? Ficarás tu irado para sempre? Teus ciúmes arderão como o fogo?
How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou be angry for ever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
6 Derrama o teu furor sobre as nações que não te conhecem, sobre os reinos que não clamam pelo teu nome;
Pour out thy fury upon the nations that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name:
7 porque devoraram Jacó, e arruinaram suas habitações.
For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his habitation.
8 Não nos castigue pelas perversidades do passado; apressa-te, que as tuas misericórdias venham até nós, porque estamos muito fracos.
Remember not against us the iniquities of [our] forefathers; let thy tender mercies speedily come to meet us: for we are brought very low.
9 Socorre-nos, ó Deus da nossa salvação, para glorificar o teu nome; livra-nos, e perdoa os nossos pecados por causa do teu nome.
Help us, O God of our salvation, because of the glory of thy name; and deliver us, and forgive our sins, for thy name's sake.
10 Qual é a finalidade de que as nações digam: Onde está o Deus deles? Que a vingança do sangue derramado dos teus servos seja conhecida entre as nações, diante dos nossos olhos.
Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants that is shed be known among the nations in our sight.
11 Chegue diante de ti o gemido dos prisioneiros; conforme o teu grande poder, salva a vida dos sentenciados à morte.
Let the groaning of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thine arm, preserve those that are appointed to die;
12 E retribui a nossos vizinhos em seus corpos sete vezes tanto dos insultos que te insultaram, ó Senhor.
And render unto our neighbours, sevenfold into their bosom, their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
13 Assim nós, o teu povo, e as ovelhas de teu pasto, te louvaremos para sempre; de geração em geração cantaremos louvores a ti.
And we, thy people and the sheep of thy pasture, will give thanks unto thee for ever; we will shew forth thy praise from generation to generation.
