Salmos 78
1 Instrução de Asafe: Povo meu, escuta minha doutrina; inclinai vossos ouvidos às palavras de minha boca.
[A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth.
2 Abrirei minha boca em parábolas; falarei mistérios dos tempos antigos,
I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings [which have been] from the beginning.
3 Os quais ouvimos e conhecemos, e nossos pais nos contaram.
All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us.
4 Nós não [os] encobriremos a seus filhos, contaremos à próxima geração sobre os louvores do SENHOR, o seu poder, e suas maravilhas que ele fez.
They were not hid from their children to a second generations; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and his mighty acts, and his wonders which he wrought.
5 Porque ele firmou um testemunho em Jacó, e pôs a Lei em Israel, a qual ele instruiu aos nossos pais, para que eles ensinassem a seus filhos;
And he raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children:
6 Para que a geração seguinte [dela] soubesse; [e] os filhos que nascessem contassem a seus filhos;
that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.
7 E [assim] pusessem sua esperança em Deus; e não se esquecessem dos feitos de Deus, mas sim, que guardassem os mandamentos dele;
That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek his commandments.
8 E não fossem como seus pais, [que foram] uma geração teimosa e rebelde; geração que não firmou seu coração, e cujo espírito não foi fiel a Deus.
That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.
9 Os filhos de Efraim, mesmo tendo arcos e flechas, viraram-se para trás no dia da batalha;
The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting [with] the bow, turned [back] in the day of battle.
10 Não guardaram o pacto de Deus, e recusaram a andar conforme sua Lei.
They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law.
11 E se esqueceram de seus feitos, e de suas maravilhas que ele tinha lhes feito ver.
And they forgot his benefits, and his miracles which he [had] showed them;
12 Ele fez maravilhas perante seus pais na terra do Egito, [no] campo de Zoã.
the miracles which he wrought before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Tanes.
13 Ele dividiu o mar, e os fez passarem por ele; ele fez as águas ficarem paradas como [se estivessem] amontoadas.
He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as [in] a bottle.
14 E ele os guiou com uma nuvem durante o dia, e por toda a noite com uma luz de fogo.
And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 Ele partiu as rochas no deserto, e [lhes] deu de beber como que de abismos profundos.
he clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.
16 Porque ele tirou correntes da rocha, e fez as águas descerem como rios.
And he brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.
17 E [ainda] prosseguiram em pecar contra ele, irritando ao Altíssimo no deserto.
And they sinned yet more against him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.
18 E tentaram a Deus nos seus corações, pedindo comida para o desejo de suas almas.
And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for [the desire of] their souls.
19 E falaram contra Deus, e disseram: Poderia Deus preparar uma mesa de comida no deserto?
They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Eis que ele feriu a rocha, e águas correram [dela] e ribeiros fluíram em abundância; será que ele também poderia [nos] dar pão, ou preparar carne a seu povo?
Forasmuch as he struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will he be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for his people?
21 Por isso o SENHOR [os] ouviu, e se irritou; e fogo se acendeu contra Jacó, e furor também subiu contra Israel;
Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.
22 Porque eles não creram em Deus, nem confiaram na salvação que dele vem;
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
23 Mesmo assim, ele deu ordens às altas nuvens, e abriu as portas dos céus;
Yet he commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24 E choveu sobre eles o maná, para comerem; e lhes deu trigo dos céus.
and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.
25 Cada homem [daquele povo] comeu o pão dos anjos; ele lhes mandou comida para se fartarem.
Man ate angels' bread; he sent them provision to the full.
26 Ele fez soprar o vento do oriente nos céus, e trouxe o [vento] do sul com seu poder.
He removed the south wind from heaven; and by his might he brought in the southwest wind.
27 Ele fez chover sobre eles carne como a poeira da terra; e aves de asas como a areia do mar;
And he rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the seas.
28 E [as] fez cair no meio de seu acampamento, ao redor de suas tendas.
And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.
29 Então comeram, e fartaram-se abundantemente; e satisfez o desejo deles.
So they ate, and were completely filled; and he gave them their desire.
30 Porem, estando eles [ainda] não satisfeitos, enquanto a comida ainda estava em suas bocas,
They were not disappointed of their desire: [but] when their food was yet in their mouth,
31 a ira de Deus subiu contra eles; matou os mais robustos deles e abateu os jovens de Israel.
then the indignation of God rose up against them, and killed the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel.
32 Com tudo isto ainda pecaram, e não creram nas maravilhas que ele fez.
In the midst of all this they sinned yet more, and believed not his miracles.
33 Por isso gastaram seus dias em futilidades, e seus anos em terrores.
And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years with anxiety.
34 Quando ele matava [alguns dentre] eles, então buscavam por ele, e se convertiam, e buscavam a Deus de madrugada.
When he killed them, they sought him: and they returned and called betimes upon God.
35 E se lembravam de que Deus era sua rocha, e que o Deus Altíssimo [era] o seu libertador.
And they remembered that God was their helper, and the most high God was their redeemer.
36 Porém falavam bem dele da boca para fora, e mentiam com suas línguas.
Yet they loved him [only] with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37 Porque o coração deles não era comprometido para com ele, e não foram fiéis ao pacto dele.
For their heart [was] not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.
38 Porém ele, sendo misericordioso, perdoava a maldade deles, e não os destruía; e muitas vezes desviou de mostrar sua ira, e não despertou todo o seu furor;
But he is compassionate, and will forgive their sins, and will not destroy [them]: yes, he will frequently turn away his wrath, and will not kindle all his anger.
39 [Porque] se lembrou de que eles eram carne, e [como] o vento, que vai, e não volta mais.
And he remembered that they are flesh; a wind that passes away, and returns not.
40 Quantas vezes o provocaram no deserto, e o maltrataram na terra desabitada!
How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, [and] anger him in a dry land!
41 Pois voltavam a tentar a Deus, e perturbavam ao Santo de Israel.
Yes, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 Não se lembraram de sua mão, [nem] do dia em que os livrou do adversário.
They remembered not his hand, the day in which he delivered them from the hand of the oppressor.
43 Como quando ele fez seus sinais no Egito, e seus atos maravilhosos no campo de Zoã.
How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Tanes:
44 E transformou seus rios e suas correntes em sangue, para que não bebessem.
and had changed their rivers into blood; and their streams, that they should not drink.
45 Enviou entre eles variedades de moscas, que os consumiu; e rãs, que os destruíram.
He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them.
46 E deu suas colheitas ao pulgão, e o trabalho deles ao gafanhoto.
And he gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labors to the locust.
47 Com saraiva destruiu suas vinhas, e suas figueiras-bravas com granizo.
He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost.
48 E entregou seu gado à saraiva; e seus animais a brasas ardentes.
And he gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire.
49 Mandou entre eles o ardor de sua ira: fúria, irritação e angústia, enviando mensageiros do mal.
He sent out against them the fury of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels.
50 Ele preparou o caminho de sua ira; não poupou suas almas da morte, e entregou seus animais à peste.
He made a way for his wrath; he spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death;
51 E feriu [mortalmente] a todo primogênito no Egito; as primícias nas forças nas tendas de Cam.
and struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the first fruits of their labors in the tents of Cham.
52 E levou a seu povo como a ovelhas; e os guiou pelo deserto como a um rebanho.
And he removed his people like sheep; he led them as a flock in the wilderness.
53 Ele os conduziu em segurança, e não temeram. O mar encobriu seus inimigos.
And he guided them with hope, and they feared not: but the sea covered their enemies.
54 E os trouxe até os limites de sua [terra] santa, até este monte, que sua mão direita adquiriu.
And he brought them in to the mountain of his sanctuary, this mountain which his right hand had purchased.
55 E expulsou as nações de diante deles, e fez com que eles repartissem as linhas de sua herança, e fez as tribos de Israel habitarem em suas tendas.
And he cast out the nations from before them, and made them to inherit by a line of inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Porém eles tentaram e provocaram ao Deus Altíssimo; e não guardaram os testemunhos dele.
Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies.
57 E voltaram a ser [tão] infiéis como os seus pais; desviaram-se como um arco enganoso.
And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers: they became like a crooked bow.
58 E provocaram a ira dele com seus altares pagãos, e com suas imagens de escultura moveram-no de ciúmes.
And they provoked him with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 Deus ouviu [isto], e se indignou; e rejeitou gravemente a Israel.
God heard and lightly regarded [them], and greatly despised Israel.
60 Por isso ele abandonou o tabernáculo em Siló, a tenda que ele havia estabelecido como habitação entre as pessoas.
And he rejected the tabernacle of Selom, his tent where he lived among men.
61 E entregou o [símbolo] de seu poder em cativeiro, e sua glória na mão do adversário.
And he gave their strength into captivity, and their beauty into the enemy's hand.
62 E entregou seu povo à espada, e enfureceu-se contra sua herança.
And he gave his people to the sword; and disdained his inheritance.
63 O fogo consumiu a seus rapazes, e suas virgens não tiveram músicas de casamento.
Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins mourned not.
64 Seus sacerdotes caíram à espada, e suas viúvas não lamentaram.
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows shall not be wept for.
65 Então o Senhor despertou como que do sono, como um homem valente que se exalta com o vinho.
So the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, [and] as a mighty man who has been heated with wine.
66 E feriu a seus adversários, para que recuassem, [e] lhes pôs como humilhação perpétua.
And he struck his enemies in the hinder parts: he brought on them a perpetual reproach.
67 Porém ele rejeitou a tenda de José, e não escolheu a tribo de Efraim.
And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68 Mas escolheu a tribo de Judá, o monte de Sião, a quem ele amava.
but chose the tribe of Juda, the mount Sion which he loved.
69 E edificou seu santuário como alturas; como a terra, a qual ele fundou para sempre.
And he built his sanctuary as [the place] of unicorns; he founded it for ever on the earth.
70 E ele escolheu a seu servo Davi; e o tomou dos apriscos de ovelhas.
He chose David also his servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep.
71 Ele o tirou de cuidar das ovelhas geradoras de filhotes, para que ele apascentasse ao seu povo Jacó; e à sua herança Israel.
He took him from following the ewes great with young, to be the shepherd of Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance.
72 E ele os apascentou com um coração sincero, e os guiou com as habilidades de suas mãos.
So he tended them in the innocency of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
