1 Salmo e cântico de Asafe, para o regente, com instrumentos de cordas: Deus é conhecido em Judá; grande é o seu nome em Israel.
For the music director. To be accompanied by stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song. God is famous in Judah; his reputation is great throughout Israel.
2 E em Salém está seu tabernáculo, e sua morada em Sião.
He lives in Jerusalem; his home is in Zion.
3 Ali ele quebrou as flechas do arco; o escudo, a espada, e a guerra. (Selá)
There he broke the flaming arrows, the shields, the swords, and the weapons of war. (Selah)
4 Tu és mais ilustre [e] glorioso que montes de presas.
You shine with light; you are more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
5 Os ousados de coração foram despojados; dormiram seu sono; e dos homens valentes, nenhum encontrou [poder] em suas mãos.
Our most courageous enemies have been plundered. They sleep the sleep of death. Even the strongest of them could not raise a hand against us.
6 Por tua repreensão, ó Deus de Jacó, carruagens e cavalos caíram no sono [da morte].
At your command, God of Jacob, both horse and rider fell down dead.
7 Tu, terrível és tu; e quem subsistirá perante ti com tua ira?
You are terrifying—who can stand before you when you are angry?
8 Desde os céus tu anunciaste o juízo; a terra tremeu, e se aquietou,
From heaven you announced judgment. Everyone on earth was afraid and stood still,
9 Quando Deus se levantou para o julgamento, para salvar a todos os mansos da terra. (Selá)
when you stood up to judge, to save the oppressed people of the earth. (Selah)
10 Porque a ira humana serve para o teu louvor; com o restante da ira te cingirás.
Even human anger against you makes you look glorious, for you wear it alike a crown.
11 Fazei votos, e [os] pagai ao SENHOR vosso Deus; todos os que estão ao redor dele tragam presentes ao Temível.
Make your promises to God and be sure to keep them. Everyone bring gifts to the awe-inspiring one.
12 Ele cortará o espírito dos governantes; ele é temível aos reis da terra.
For he humbles proud leaders; he terrifies the kings of the earth.
