Salmos 53

1 Instrução de Davi, para o regente, sobre “Maalate”: O tolo diz em seu coração: Não há Deus. Eles se corrompem, e cometem abominável perversidade, ninguém há que faça o bem.

To the Chief Musician. On Mahalath. A Psalm of Instruction, of David. The impious hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have acted corruptly, They have wrought abominable perversity, There is none that doeth good: —

2 Deus olhou desde os céus para os filhos dos homens, para ver se havia alguém prudente, que buscasse a Deus.

God, out of the heavens, looked down upon the sons of men, —To see whether there was one that showed wisdom, Enquiring after God.

3 Todos se desviaram, juntamente se fizeram detestáveis; ninguém há que faça o bem, nem um sequer.

They all, have turned back, together have they become tainted, —There is none that doeth good, Not so much as, one!

4 Será que não tem conhecimento os praticantes de maldade, que devoram a meu povo, [como se] comessem pão? Eles não clamam a Deus.

Are the workers of iniquity, without knowledge? Devouring my people, [as] they devour food? Upon God, have they not called.

5 Ali eles terão grande medo, [onde] não havia medo; porque Deus espalhou os ossos daquele que te cercava; tu os humilhaste, porque Deus os rejeitou.

There have they been in great dread where no dread was, Because, God, hath scattered the bones of thy besieger, —Thou hast put [him] to shame, Because, God, had, rejected, them.

6 Ah, que de Sião venha a salvação de Israel! Quando Deus restaurar seu povo de seu infortúnio, Jacó jubilará, Israel se alegrará.

Oh that, out of Zion, were granted the salvations of Israel! When God bringeth back the captives of his people, Jacob, shall exult, Israel, shall be glad.
