Salmos 44
1 Instrução para o regente; dos filhos de Coré: Ó Deus, com nossos ouvidos ouvimos, nossos pais nos contaram a obra que tu fizeste nos seus dias, nos dias antigos.
“For the leader of the music. A psalm of the sons of Korah.” O God! we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have told us, What deeds thou didst in their days, In the days of old.
2 Para plantá-los, expulsaste as nações com a tua própria mão; para fazê-los crescer, afligiste os povos.
With thine own hand didst thou drive out the nations, And plant our fathers; Thou didst destroy the nations, And cause our fathers to flourish.
3 Porque não conquistaram a terra pelas espadas deles, nem o braço deles os salvou; mas sim tua mão direita e o teu braço, e a luz de teu rosto; porque tu os favoreceste.
For not by their own swords did they gain possession of the land, Nor did their own arms give them victory; But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance; For thou didst favor them!
4 Deus, tu és meu Rei; ordena salvações a Jacó.
Thou art my king, O God! O send deliverance to Jacob!
5 Por ti venceremos nossos adversários; por teu nome passaremos por cima dos que se levantam contra nós.
Through thee we may cast down our enemies; Through thy name we may trample upon our adversaries!
6 Porque minha confiança não está em meu arco; nem minha espada me salvará.
I trust not in my bow, Nor can my sword save me.
7 Pois tu nos salvaste de nossos adversários, e envergonhaste aos que nos odeiam.
But it is thou only who savest us from our enemies, And puttest to shame those who hate us!
8 Nós exaltamos a Deus o dia todo; e louvaremos o teu nome para sempre. (Selá)
In God will we glory continually; Yea, we will praise thy name for ever! (Pause)
9 Mas [agora] tu tens nos rejeitado e envergonhado; e tu não tens saído junto com nossos exércitos.
Yet now thou hast cast us off, and put us to shame; Thou goest not forth with our armies.
10 Tu nos fazes fugir do adversário, e aqueles que nos odeiam saqueiam [de nós] para si.
Thou makest us turn back from the enemy, And they who hate us make our goods their prey.
11 Tu nos entregas como ovelhas para serem comidas, e nos espalhas entre as nações.
Thou makest us like sheep destined for food, And scatterest us among the nations.
12 Tu vendes a teu povo ao preço de nada, e não aumentas o seu valor.
Thou sellest thy people for nought, And increasest not thy wealth by their price.
13 Tu nos pões como humilhação por nossos vizinhos; como escárnio e zombaria pelos que estão ao redor de nós.
Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a derision to those who are around us.
14 Tu nos pões como provérbio de escárnio entre as nações; como balançar de cabeça entre os povos;
Thou makest us a byword among the nations, And causest the people to shake their heads at us.
15 Minha humilhação está o dia todo diante de mim; e a vergonha cobre o meu rosto,
My ignominy is continually before me, And shame covereth my face,
16 Pela voz do adversário e do que insulta; por causa do inimigo e do vingador.
On account of the voice of the scoffer and the reviler, And on account of the enemy and the avenger.
17 Tudo isto veio sobre nós; porém não nos esquecemos de ti, nem traímos o teu pacto.
All this hath come upon us; Yet have we not forgotten thee, Nor have we been false to thy covenant.
18 Nosso coração não se voltou para trás, nem nossos passos de desviaram de teu caminho.
Our hearts, have not wandered from thee, Nor have our feet gone out of thy path;
19 Tu tens nos afligido num lugar de chacais, e nos cobriste com sobra de morte.
Though thou hast crushed us in a land of jackals, And covered us with thick darkness.
20 Se tivéssemos esquecido do nome do nosso Deus, e estendido nossas mãos a um outro deus,
If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched forth our hands to a strange God,
21 por acaso Deus não o descobriria? Pois ele conhece os segredos do coração.
Surely God would search it out; For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Mas por causa de ti somos mortos o dia todo; somos considerados como ovelhas para o matadouro.
But for thy sake we are killed all the day; We are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Desperta; por que estás dormindo, Senhor? Acorda, não [nos] rejeites para sempre.
Awake! why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise! cast us not off for ever!
24 Por que escondes tua face, e te esqueces de nossa humilhação e de nossa opressão?
Wherefore dost thou hide thy face, And forget our affliction and oppression?
25 Pois nossa alma está abatida ao pó; nosso ventre está junto à terra.
Our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body cleaveth to the earth.
26 Levanta-te para nosso socorro; e resgata-nos por tua bondade.
Arise, O thou, our strength! And deliver us, for thy mercy's sake!
