Salmos 40

1 Salmo de Davi, para o regente: Esperei com esperança no SENHOR, e ele se inclinou a mim, e ouviu o meu clamor.

[For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.] I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me, and heard my cry.

2 Ele me tirou de uma cova de tormento, de um lamaceiro de barro; e pôs os meus pés sobre uma rocha; ele firmou meus passos.

He also brought me up out of a pit of tumult, out of the miry clay; and he set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.

3 E pôs em minha boca uma canção nova, um louvor para nosso Deus: muitos [o] verão, e temerão, e confiarão no SENHOR.

And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

4 Bem-aventurado [é] o homem que põe no SENHOR sua confiança; e não dá atenção aos arrogantes e aos que caminham em direção à mentira.

Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, and doesn't respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Tu, SENHOR meu Deus, multiplicaste para conosco tuas maravilhas e teus planos; eles não podem ser contados em ordem diante de ti; se eu [tentasse] contá-los e falá-los, eles são muito mais do que incontáveis.

Many, LORD, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us. They can't be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 Tu não te agradaste de sacrifício e oferta; [porém] tu me furaste as orelhas; tu não pediste nem holocausto nem oferta de expiação do pecado.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. Whole burnt offering and sin offering you did not require.

7 Então eu disse: Eis que venho; no rolo do livro está escrito sobre mim.

Then I said, "Look, I have come. It is written about me in the scroll of a book;

8 Meu Deus, eu desejo fazer a tua vontade; e tua Lei está no meio dos meus sentimentos.

to do your will, O God, I desired. And your Law is within my heart."

9 Eu anuncio a justiça na grande congregação; eis que não retenho meus lábios; tu, SENHOR sabes [disso].

I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Look, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know.

10 Eu não escondo tua justiça no meio de meu coração; eu declaro tua fidelidade e tua salvação; não escondo tua bondade e tua verdade na grande congregação.

I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly.

11 Tu, SENHOR, não detenhas para comigo tuas misericórdias; tua bondade e tua fidelidade me guardem continuamente.

Do not withhold your tender mercies from me, LORD. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.

12 Porque inúmeros males me cercaram; minhas maldades me prenderam, e eu não pude as ver; elas são muito mais do que os cabelos de minha cabeça, e meu coração me desamparou.

For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.

13 Seja agradável para ti, SENHOR, tu me livrares; SENHOR, apressa-te ao meu socorro.

Be pleased, LORD, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, LORD.

14 Envergonhem-se, e sejam juntamente humilhados os que buscam a minha alma para a destruírem; tornem-se para trás e sejam envergonhados os que querem o meu mal.

Let them be put to shame and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt.

15 Sejam eles assolados como pagamento de sua humilhação, os que dizem de mim: “Ha-ha!”

Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that tell me, "Aha. Aha."

16 Fiquem contentes e se alegrem-se em ti todos aqueles que te buscam; digam continuamente os que amam tua salvação: Engrandecido seja o SENHOR!

Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, "Let the LORD be exalted."

17 E eu [estou] miserável e necessitado; [mas] o SENHOR cuida de mim; tu [és] meu socorro e meu libertador; Deus meu, não demores.

But I am poor and needy. May the LORD think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Do not delay, my God.
