Salmos 140
1 Salmo de Davi, para o regente: Livra-me do homem mau, SENHOR; guarda-me dos homens violentos,
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
2 Que pensam maldades no coração; todo dia se reúnem para fazerem guerra.
Who imagine mischiefs in [their] heart; continually are they assembled [for] war.
3 Eles afiam suas línguas como a cobra; veneno de serpentes [há] debaixo de seus lábios. (Selá)
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adder's poison [is] under their lips. (Selah)
4 Guarda-me, SENHOR, das mãos do perverso; guarda-me do homens violentos, que pensam em empurrar os meus pés.
Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
5 Os arrogantes me armaram ciladas e cordas; estenderam uma rede de um lado do caminho; [e] puseram laços de armadilhas para mim. (Selá)
The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the way side: they have set gins for me. (Selah)
6 Eu disse ao SENHOR: Tu [és] meu Deus; inclina teus ouvidos à voz de minhas súplicas, SENHOR.
I said to the LORD, Thou [art] my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
7 Ó Senhor DEUS, força de minha salvação, cobriste minha cabeça no dia da batalha.
O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
8 Não concedas ao perverso os desejos dele, SENHOR; não permitas suceder seu plano maligno, [pois senão] se exaltariam. (Selá)
Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; [lest] they exalt themselves. (Selah)
9 Quanto à cabeça dos que me cercam, que a opressão de seus próprios lábios os cubra.
[As for] the head of those that encompass me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Caiam sobre eles brasas vivas; faça-os cair no fogo [e] em covas profundas, [para que] não se levantem mais.
Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not again.
11 O homem de língua maligna não se firmará na terra; o mal perseguirá o homem violento até o derrubar.
Let not an evil speaker be established on the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow [him].
12 Eu sei que o SENHOR cumprirá a causa do aflito, o direito dos necessitados.
I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, [and] the right of the poor.
13 Certamente os justos agradecerão ao teu nome; os corretos habitarão perante teu rosto.
Surely the righteous shall give thanks to thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
