Provérbios 9
1 A verdadeira sabedoria edificou sua casa; ela lavrou suas sete colunas.
Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars:
2 Ela sacrificou seu sacrifício, misturou seu vinho, e preparou sua mesa.
She has killed her beasts; she has mingled her wine; she has also furnished her table.
3 Mandou suas servas, [e] está convidando desde os pontos mais altos da cidade, dizendo:
She has sent forth her maidens: she cries upon the highest places of the city,
4 Qualquer um que for ingênuo, venha aqui. Aos que têm falta de entendimento, ela diz:
Whoso is simple, let him turn in here: as for him that wants understanding, she says to him,
5 Vinde, comei do meu pão; e bebei do vinho que misturei.
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Abandonai a tolice; e vivei; e andai pelo caminho da prudência.
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 Aquele que repreende ao zombador, toma desonra para si mesmo; e o que tenta corrigir ao perverso acaba sendo manchado.
He that reproves a scorner gets to himself shame: and he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself a blot.
8 Não repreendas ao zombador, para que ele não te odeie; repreende ao sábio, e ele te amará.
Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you: rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Ensina ao sábio, e ele será mais sábio ainda; instrui ao justo, e ele aumentará seu conhecimento.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 O temor ao SENHOR é o princípio da sabedoria; e o conhecimento dos santos [é] a prudência.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 Porque por mim teus dias serão multiplicados; e anos de vida a ti serão aumentados.
For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.
12 Se fores sábio, serás sábio para ti; e se fores zombador, somente tu aguentarás.
If you be wise, you shall be wise for yourself: but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.
13 A mulher louca é causadora de tumultos; [ela é] tola, e não sabe coisa alguma.
A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knows nothing.
14 E se senta à porta de sua casa, sobre uma cadeira, nos lugares altos da cidade;
For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 Para chamar aos que passam pelo caminho, e passam por suas veredas, [dizendo]:
To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16 Qualquer um que for ingênuo, venha aqui! E aos que tem falta de entendimento, ela diz:
Whoso is simple, let him turn in here: and as for him that wants understanding, she says to him,
17 As águas roubadas são doces; e o pão escondido é agradável.
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
