Provérbios 5
1 Filho meu, presta atenção à minha sabedoria, inclina teus ouvidos ao meu entendimento.
My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
2 Para que guardes o bom-senso; e teus lábios conservem o conhecimento.
that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
3 Porque os lábios da mulher pervertida gotejam mel; e sua boca é mais suave que o azeite.
For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
4 Porém seu fim é mais amargo que o absinto; é afiado como a espada de dois fios.
but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
6 Para que não ponderes a vereda da vida, os percursos delas são errantes, e tu não os conhecerás.
Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
7 E agora, filhos, escutai-me; e não vos desvieis das palavras de minha boca.
And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Mantenha teu caminho longe dela; e não te aproximes da porta da casa dela.
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Para que não dês tua honra a outros, nem teus anos [de vida] aos cruéis.
lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
10 Para que estranhos não se fartem de teu poder, e teus trabalhos [não sejam] aproveitados em casa alheia;
lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
11 E gemas em teu fim, quando tua carne e teu corpo estiverem consumidos.
and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
12 E digas: Como eu odiei a correção, e meu coração desprezou a repreensão?
and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
13 E não escutei a voz de meus ensinadores, nem ouvi a meus mestres.
and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
14 Quase me achei em todo mal, no meio da congregação e do ajuntamento.
I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Bebe água de tua [própria] cisterna, e das correntes de teu [próprio] poço.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Derramar-se-iam por fora tuas fontes, [e] pelas ruas os ribeiros de águas?
Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
17 Sejam somente para ti, e não para os estranhos contigo.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Seja bendito o teu manancial, e alegra-te com a mulher de tua juventude.
Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
19 [Seja ela] uma cerva amorosa e gazela graciosa; que os seios dela te fartem em todo tempo; e anda pelo caminho do amor dela continuamente.
As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
20 E por que tu, filho meu, andarias perdido pela estranha, e abraçarias o peito da [mulher] alheia?
And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Pois os caminhos do homem estão perante os olhos do SENHOR; e ele pondera todos os seus percursos.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
22 O perverso será preso pelas suas [próprias] perversidades; e será detido pelas cordas de seu [próprio] pecado.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
23 Ele morrerá pela falta de correção; e andará sem rumo pela grandeza de sua loucura.
He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
