Provérbios 31
1 Palavras do rei Lemuel, a profecia que sua mãe o ensinava.
The words of Lemuel the king, —the strain which was taught him by his mother: —
2 O que [posso te dizer], meu filho, ó filho do meu ventre? O que [te direi], filho de minhas promessas?
What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? aye what, the son of my vows?
3 Não dês tua força às mulheres, nem teus caminhos para [coisas] que destroem reis.
Do not give, to women, thy strength, nor thy ways, to them who ruin kings.
4 Lemuel, não convém aos reis beber vinho; nem aos príncipes [desejar] bebida alcoólica.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor, for dignitaries, to desire strong drink,
5 Para não acontecer de que bebam, e se esqueçam da lei, e pervertam o direito de todos os aflitos.
Lest he drink, and forget that which is decreed, and alter the plea of any who are sorely oppressed.
6 Dai bebida alcoólica aos que estão a ponto de morrer, e vinho que têm amargura na alma,
Give strong drink, to him that is perishing, and wine, to such as are embittered in soul:
7 Para que bebam, e se esqueçam de sua pobreza, e não se lembrem mais de sua miséria.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and, his wearying toil, let him remember no more.
8 Abre tua boca no lugar do mudo pela causa judicial de todos os que estão morrendo.
Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all the children of the departed.
9 Abre tua boca, julga corretamente, e faze justiça aos oprimidos e necessitados.
Open thy mouth—judge righteously, —and administer justice for the poor and the needy.
10 Mulher virtuosa, quem a encontrará? Pois seu valor é muito maior que o de rubis.
A virtuous woman, who can find? for, far beyond corals, is her worth.
11 O coração de seu marido confia nela, e ele não terá falta de bens.
The heart of her husband, trusteth her, and, gain, he shall not lack:
12 Ela lhe faz bem, e não o mal, todos os dias de sua vida.
She doeth him good and not evil, all the days of her life:
13 Ela busca lã e linho, e com prazer trabalha com suas mãos.
She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands:
14 Ela é como um navio mercante; de longe traz a sua comida.
She is like the ships of the merchant, from afar, she bringeth in her food;
15 Ainda de noite ela se levanta, e dá alimento a sua casa; e ordens às suas servas.
And she riseth, while yet it is night, and giveth food to her household, and a task to her maidens:
16 Ela avalia um campo, e o compra; do fruto de suas mãos planta uma vinha.
She considereth a field, and procureth it, Out of the fruit of her hands, she planteth a vineyard:
17 Ela prepara seus lombos com vigor, e fortalece seus braços.
She girdeth, with strength her loins, and putteth vigour into her arms:
18 Ela prova que suas mercadorias são boas, [e] sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.
She tasteth, whether, good, be her merchandise, and her lamp, goeth not out by night:
19 Ela estende suas mãos ao rolo de linha, e com suas mãos prepara os fios.
Her hands, she putteth forth to the distaff, and, her palms, lay hold of the spindle:
20 Ela estende sua mão ao aflito, e estica os braços aos necessitados.
Her palm, she spreadeth out to the oppressed, and, her hands, she extendeth to the needy:
21 Ela não terá medo da neve por sua casa, pois todos os de sua casa estão agasalhados.
She feareth not, for her household, because of the snow, for, all her household, are clothed with crimson:
22 Ela faz cobertas para sua cama; de linho fino e de púrpura é o seu vestido.
Coverlets, she maketh for herself, Of white linen and of purple, is her clothing:
23 Seu marido é famoso às portas [da cidade], quando ele se senta com os anciãos da terra.
Known in the gates, is her husband, when he sitteth, with the elders of the land:
24 Ela faz panos de linho fino, e os vende; e fornece cintos aos comerciantes.
Fine linen wraps, she maketh and selleth, and, girdles, doth she deliver to the trader:
25 Força e glória são suas roupas, e ela sorri pelo seu futuro.
Strength and dignity, are her clothing, and she laugheth at the time to come:
26 Ela abre sua boca com sabedoria; e o ensinamento bondoso está em sua língua.
Her mouth, she openeth with wisdom, and, the instruction of kindness, is on her tongue:
27 Ela presta atenção aos rumos de sua casa, e não come pão da preguiça.
She looketh well to the goings of her household, and, the bread of idleness, will she not eat.
28 Seus filhos se levantam e a chamam de bem-aventurada; seu marido também a elogia, [dizendo]:
Her children rise up, and call her happy! her husband, and he praiseth her: —
29 Muitas mulheres agem com virtude, mas tu és melhor que todas elas.
Many daughters, have done virtuously, but, thou, excellest them all!
30 A beleza é enganosa, e a formosura é passageira; [mas] a mulher que teme ao SENHOR, essa será louvada.
Deceitful is loveliness and vain is beauty, The woman that revereth Yahweh, she, shall be praised:
31 Dai a ela conforme o fruto de suas mãos, e que suas obras a louvem às portas [da cidade].
Give her of the fruit of her own hands, and let her own works, praise her in the gates.
