Provérbios 28
1 Os perversos fogem [mesmo] quando não há quem os persiga, mas os justos são confiantes como um leão.
The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are secure as a young lion.
2 Pela rebelião numa terra, seus governantes são muitos; mas por meio de um homem prudente e conhecedor [seu governo] permanecerá.
For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by a man of understanding and knowledge established order shall long continue.
3 O homem pobre que oprime aos necessitados é [como] uma chuva devastadora [que causa] falta de pão.
A poor man that oppresseth the weak is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4 Os que abandonam a lei louvam ao perverso; porém os que guardam a lei lutarão contra eles.
They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.
5 Os homens maus não entendem a justiça; mas os que buscam ao SENHOR entendem tudo.
Evil men understand not justice; but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6 Melhor é o pobre que anda em sua honestidade do que o perverso de caminhos, ainda que seja rico.
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7 O que guarda a lei é um filho prudente, mas o companheiro de comilões envergonha a seu pai.
A wise son observeth the teaching; but he that is a companion of gluttonous men shameth his father.
8 Aquele que aumenta seus bens por meio de juros e lucros desonestos está juntando para o que se compadece dos pobres.
He that augmenteth his substance by interest and increase, gathereth it for him that is gracious to the poor.
9 Aquele que desvia seus ouvidos de ouvir a lei, até sua oração [será] abominável.
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
10 Aquele que faz as pessoas corretas errarem em direção a um mau caminho, ele mesmo cairá em sua cova; mas os que não tiverem pecado herdarão o bem.
Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit; but the whole-hearted shall inherit good.
11 O homem rico é sábio aos seus [próprios] olhos; mas o pobre prudente o examina.
The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him through.
12 Quando os justos estão contentes, muita é a alegria; mas quando os perversos se levantam, os homens se escondem.
When the righteous exult, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men must be sought for.
13 Quem encobre suas transgressões nunca prosperará, mas aquele que as confessa e [as] abandona alcançará misericórdia.
He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.
14 Bem-aventurado o homem que sempre mantém seu temor; mas aquele que endurece seu coração cairá no mal.
Happy is the man that feareth alway; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil.
15 Leão rugidor e urso faminto é o governante perverso sobre um povo pobre.
As a roaring lion, and a ravenous bear; so is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 O príncipe que tem falta de entendimento aumenta as opressões; mas aquele que odeia o lucro desonesto prolongará [seus] dias.
The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor; but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17 O homem atormentado pelo sangue de alguma alma fugirá até a cova; ninguém o detenha.
A man that is laden with the blood of any person shall hasten his steps unto the pit; none will support him.
18 Aquele que anda sinceramente será salvo; mas o que se desvia em [seus] caminhos cairá de uma só vez.
Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved; but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19 Aquele que lavrar sua terra terá fartura de pão; mas o que segue coisas inúteis terá fartura de pobreza.
He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things shall have poverty enough.
20 O homem fiel [terá] muitas bênçãos; mas o que se apressa para enriquecer não ficará impune.
A faithful man shall abound with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.
21 Fazer acepção de pessoas não é bom; porque até por um pedaço de pão o homem pode transgredir.
To have respect of persons is not good; for a man will transgress for a piece of bread.
22 Quem tem pressa para ter riquezas é um homem de olho mau; e ele não sabe que a miséria virá sobre ele.
He that hath an evil eye hasteneth after riches, and knoweth not that want shall come upon him.
23 Aquele que repreende ao homem obterá mais favor depois do que aquele que lisonjeia com a língua.
He that rebuketh a man shall in the end find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24 Aquele que furta seu pai ou sua mãe e diz: Não é pecado, É companheiro do homem destruidor.
Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith: 'It is no transgression', the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25 Quem tem alma orgulhosa levanta brigas; mas aquele que confia no SENHOR prosperará.
He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife; but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be abundantly gratified.
26 Aquele que confia em seu [próprio] coração é tolo; mas o que anda em sabedoria escapará [em segurança].
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall escape.
27 Quem dá ao pobre não terá falta; mas o que esconde seus olhos [terá] muitas maldições.
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28 Quando os perversos ganham poder, os homens se escondem; mas quando perecem, os justos se multiplicam.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
