Provérbios 2
1 Filho meu, se aceitares minhas palavras, e depositares em ti meus mandamentos,
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and wilt hide my commandments with thee,
2 Para fazeres teus ouvidos darem atenção à sabedoria, [e] inclinares teu coração à inteligência;
That thy ear may hearken to wisdom: Incline thy heart to know prudence:
3 E se clamares à prudência, [e] à inteligência dirigires tua voz;
For if thou shalt call for wisdom, and incline thy heart to prudence:
4 Se tu a buscares como a prata, e a procurares como que a tesouros escondidos,
If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure:
5 Então entenderás o temor ao SENHOR, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.
6 Porque o SENHOR dá sabedoria; de sua boca [vem] o conhecimento e o entendimento.
Because the Lord giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh prudence and knowledge.
7 Ele reserva a boa sabedoria para os corretos; [ele é] escudo para os que andam em sinceridade.
He will keep the salvation of the righteous, and protect them that walk in simplicity.
8 Para guardar os caminhos do juízo; e conservar os passos de seus santos.
Keeping the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of saints.
9 Então entenderás a justiça e o juízo, e a equidade; [e] todo bom caminho.
Then shalt thou understand justice, and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Quando a sabedoria entrar em teu coração, e o conhecimento for agradável à tua alma.
If wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge please thy soul:
11 O bom senso te guardará, e o entendimento te preservará:
Counsel shall keep thee, and prudence shall preserve thee,
12 - Para te livrar do mau caminho, e dos homens que falam perversidades;
That thou mayst be delivered from the evil way, and from the man that speaketh perverse things:
13 Que deixam as veredas da justiça para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;
Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:
14 Que se alegram em fazer o mal, e se enchem de alegria com as perversidades dos maus;
Who are glad when they have done evil, and rejoice in most wicked things:
15 Cujas veredas são distorcidas, e desviadas em seus percursos.
Whose ways are perverse, and their steps infamous.
16 - Para te livrar da mulher estranha, e da pervertida, [que] lisonjeia com suas palavras;
That thou mayst be delivered from the strange women, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words:
17 Que abandona o guia de sua juventude, e se esquece do pacto de seu Deus.
And forsaketh the guide of her youth,
18 Porque sua casa se inclina para a morte, e seus caminhos para os mortos.
And hath forgotten the covenant of her God: for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths to hell. (questioned)
19 Todos os que entrarem a ela, não voltarão mais; e não alcançarão os caminhos da vida.
None that go in unto her shall return again, neither shall they take hold of the paths of life,
20 - Para andares no caminho dos bons, e te guardares nas veredas dos justos.
That thou mayst walk in a good way: and mayst keep the paths of the just.
21 Porque os corretos habitarão a terra; e os íntegros nela permanecerão.
For they that are upright shall dwell in the earth, and the simple shall continue in it.
22 Porém os perversos serão cortados da terra, e os infiéis serão arrancados dela.
But the wicked shall be destroyed from the earth: and they that do unjustly shall be taken away from it.
