Provérbios 19
1 Melhor é o pobre que anda em sua honestidade do que o perverso de lábios e tolo.
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
2 E não é bom a alma sem conhecimento; e quem tem pés apressados comete erros.
It isn't good to have zeal without knowledge; nor being hasty with one's feet and missing the way.
3 A loucura do homem perverte seu caminho; e seu coração se ira contra o SENHOR.
The foolishness of man subverts his way; his heart rages against the LORD.
4 A riqueza faz ganhar muitos amigos; mas ao pobre, até seu amigo o abandona.
Wealth adds many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend.
5 A falsa testemunha não ficará impune; e quem fala mentiras não escapará.
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.
6 Muitos suplicam perante o príncipe; e todos querem ser amigos daquele que dá presentes.
Many will seek the favor of a ruler, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.
7 Todos os irmãos do pobre o odeiam; ainda mais seus amigos se afastam dele; ele corre atrás deles com palavras, mas eles nada lhe [respondem].
All the relatives of the poor shun him: how much more do his friends avoid him. He pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.
8 Quem adquire entendimento ama sua alma; quem guarda a prudência encontrará o bem.
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul. He who keeps understanding shall find good.
9 A falsa testemunha não ficará impune; e quem fala mentiras perecerá.
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who utters lies shall perish.
10 O luxo não é adequado ao tolo; muito menos ao servo dominar sobre príncipes.
Delicate living is not appropriate for a fool, much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 A prudência do homem retém sua ira; e sua glória é ignorar a ofensa.
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
12 A fúria do rei é como o rugido de um leão; mas seu favor é como orvalho sobre a erva.
The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
13 O filho tolo é uma desgraça ao seu pai; e brigas da esposa são [como] uma goteira duradoura.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife's quarrels are a continual dripping.
14 A casa e as riquezas são a herança dos pais; porém a mulher prudente [vem] do SENHOR.
House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15 A preguiça faz cair num sono profundo; e a alma desocupada passará fome.
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Quem guarda o mandamento cuida de sua alma; e quem despreza seus caminhos morrerá.
He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die.
17 Quem faz misericórdia ao pobre empresta ao SENHOR; e ele lhe pagará sua recompensa.
He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD; he will reward him.
18 Castiga a teu filho enquanto há esperança; mas não levantes tua alma para o matar.
Discipline your son, for there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.
19 Aquele que tem grande irá será punido; porque se tu [o] livrares, terás de fazer o mesmo de novo.
A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty, for if you rescue him, you must do it again.
20 Ouve o conselho, e recebe a disciplina; para que sejas sábio nos teus últimos [dias].
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.
21 Há muitos pensamentos no coração do homem; porém o conselho do SENHOR prevalecerá.
There are many plans in a man's heart, but the LORD's counsel will prevail.
22 O que se deseja do homem [é] sua bondade; porém o pobre é melhor do que o homem mentiroso.
That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar.
23 O temor ao SENHOR [encaminha] para a vida; aquele que [o tem] habitará satisfeito, nem mal algum o visitará.
The fear of the LORD leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.
24 O preguiçoso põe sua mão no prato, e nem sequer a leva de volta à boca.
The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Fere ao zombador, e o ingênuo será precavido; e repreende ao prudente, e ele aprenderá conhecimento.
Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
26 Aquele que prejudica ao pai [ou] afugenta a mãe é filho causador de vergonha e de desgraça.
He who robs his father and drives away his mother, is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
27 Filho meu, deixa de ouvir a instrução, [então] te desviarás das palavras de conhecimento.
If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.
28 A má testemunha escarnece do juízo; e a boca dos perversos engole injustiça.
A corrupt witness mocks justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down iniquity.
29 Julgamentos estão preparados para zombadores, e açoites para as costas dos tolos.
Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
