Provérbios 18
1 Quem se isola busca seu [próprio] desejo; ele se volta contra toda sabedoria.
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh [and] intermeddleth with all wisdom.
2 O tolo não tem prazer no entendimento, mas sim em revelar sua [própria] opinião.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may reveal itself.
3 Na vinda do perverso, vem também o desprezo; e com a desonra [vem] a vergonha.
When the wicked cometh, [then] cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
4 A boca do homem são [como] águas profundas; e o manancial de sabedoria [como] um ribeiro transbordante.
The words of a man's mouth [are as] deep waters, [and] the well-spring of wisdom [as] a flowing brook.
5 Não é bom favorecer ao perverso para prejudicar ao justo num julgamento.
[It is] not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 Os lábios do tolo entram em briga, e sua boca chama pancadas.
A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7 A boca do tolo é sua [própria] destruição, e seus lábios [são] armadilha para sua alma.
A fool's mouth [is] his destruction, and his lips [are] the snare of his soul.
8 As palavras do fofoqueiro são como alimentos deliciosos, que descem até o interior do ventre.
The words of a tale-bearer [are] as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9 O preguiçoso em fazer sua obra é irmão do causador de prejuízo.
He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
10 O nome do SENHOR é uma torre forte; o justo correrá até ele, e ficará seguro.
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
11 Os bens do rico são [como] uma cidade fortificada, e como um muro alto em sua imaginação.
The rich man's wealth [is] his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.
12 Antes da ruína o coração humano é orgulhoso; e antes da honra [vem] a humildade.
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor [is] humility.
13 Quem responde antes de ouvir [age] como tolo e causa vergonha para si.
He that answereth a matter before he heareth [it], it [is] folly and shame to him.
14 O espírito do homem o sustentará quando doente; mas o espírito abatido, quem o levantará?
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
15 O coração do prudente adquire conhecimento; e o ouvido dos sábios busca conhecimento.
The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
16 O presente do homem alarga seu caminho, e o leva perante a face dos grandes.
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
17 Aquele que primeiro mostra sua causa [parece ser] justo; mas [somente até] que outro venha, e o investigue.
[He that is] first in his own cause [seemeth] just; but his neighbor cometh and searcheth him.
18 O sorteio cessa disputas, e separa poderosos [de se confrontarem].
The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
19 O irmão ofendido [é mais difícil] que uma cidade fortificada; e as brigas são como ferrolhos de uma fortaleza.
A brother offended [is harder to be won] than a strong city: and [their] contentions [are] like the bars of a castle.
20 Do fruto da boca do homem seu ventre se fartará; dos produtos de seus lábios se saciará.
A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; [and] with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 A morte e a vida estão no poder da língua; e aquele que a ama comerá do fruto dela.
Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit of it.
22 Quem encontrou esposa, encontrou o bem; e obteve o favor do SENHOR.
[Whoever] findeth a wife findeth a good [thing], and obtaineth favor from the LORD.
23 O pobre fala com súplicas; mas o rico responde com durezas.
The poor useth entreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
24 O homem [que tem] amigos pode ser prejudicado [por eles]; porém há um amigo mais chegado que um irmão.
A man [that hath] friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend [that] sticketh closer than a brother.
