Provérbios 14
1 Toda mulher sábia edifica sua casa; porém a tola a derruba com suas mãos.
Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
2 Aquele que anda corretamente teme ao SENHOR; mas o que se desvia de seus caminhos o despreza.
He who walks in his uprightness fears Adonai, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
3 Na boca do tolo está a vara da arrogância, porém os lábios dos sábios os protegem.
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
4 Não havendo bois, o celeiro fica limpo; mas pela força do boi há uma colheita abundante.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 A testemunha verdadeira não mentirá, mas a testemunha falsa declara mentiras.
A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
6 O zombador busca sabedoria, mas não [acha] nenhuma; mas o conhecimento é fácil para o prudente.
A scoffer seeks wisdom, and does not find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
7 Afasta-te do homem tolo, porque [nele] não encontrarás lábios inteligentes.
Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
8 A sabedoria do prudente é entender seu caminho; mas a loucura dos tolos é engano.
The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Os tolos zombam da culpa, mas entre os corretos está o favor.
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
10 O coração conhece sua [própria] amargura, e o estranho não pode partilhar sua alegria.
The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
11 A casa dos perversos será destruída, mas a tenda dos corretos florescerá.
The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 Há um caminho que [parece] correto para o homem, porém o fim dele são caminhos de morte.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
13 Até no riso o coração terá dor, e o fim da alegria é a tristeza.
Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
14 Quem se desvia de coração será cheio de seus próprios caminhos, porém o homem de bem [será recompensado] pelos seus.
The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
15 O ingênuo crê em toda palavra, mas o prudente pensa cuidadosamente sobre seus passos.
A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
16 O sábio teme, e se afasta do mal; porém o tolo se precipita e se acha seguro.
A wise man fears, and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.
17 Quem se ira rapidamente faz loucuras, e o homem de maus pensamentos será odiado.
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
18 Os ingênuos herdarão a tolice, mas os prudentes serão coroados [com] o conhecimento.
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Os maus se inclinarão perante a face dos bons, e os perversos diante das portas do justo.
The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the upright.
20 O pobre é odiado até pelo seu próximo, porém os amigos dos ricos são muitos.
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many 'ahav ·affectionate lovers, friends·.
21 Quem despreza a seu próximo, peca; mas aquele que demonstra misericórdia aos humildes [é] bem-aventurado.
He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who has mercy on the poor.
22 Por acaso não andam errados os que tramam o mal? Mas [há] bondade e fidelidade para os que planejam o bem.
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But cheshed ·loving-kindness· and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
23 Em todo trabalho cansativo há proveito, mas o falar dos lábios só [leva] à pobreza.
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
24 A coroa dos sábios é a sua riqueza; a loucura dos tolos é loucura.
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
25 A testemunha verdadeira livra almas, mas aquele que declara mentiras é enganador.
A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
26 No temor ao SENHOR [há] forte confiança; e será refúgio para seus filhos.
In the fear of Adonai is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
27 O temor ao SENHOR é manancial de vida, para se desviar dos laços da morte.
The fear of Adonai is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
28 Na multidão do povo está a honra do rei, mas a falta de gente é a ruína do príncipe.
In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
29 Quem demora para se irar tem muito entendimento, mas aquele de espírito impetuoso exalta a loucura.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
30 O coração em paz é vida para o corpo, mas a inveja é [como] podridão nos ossos.
The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
31 Quem oprime ao pobre insulta ao seu Criador; mas aquele que mostra compaixão ao necessitado o honra.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who honors him shows mercy to the needy.
32 Por sua malícia, o perverso é excluído; porém o justo [até] em sua morte mantém a confiança.
The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the upright has a refuge.
33 No coração do prudente repousa a sabedoria; mas ela será conhecida até entre os tolos.
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
34 A justiça exalta a nação, mas o pecado é a desgraça dos povos.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a cheshed ·disgrace· to any people.
35 O rei se agrada do seu servo prudente; porém ele mostrará seu furor ao causador de vergonha.
The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
