Números 13
1 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
2 “Envia homens que reconheçam a terra de Canaã, a qual eu dou aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, cada um líder entre eles.”
Sende thou men out to search the lande of Canaan which I giue vnto the children of Israel: of euery tribe of their fathers shall ye sende a man, such as are all rulers among them.
3 E Moisés os enviou desde o deserto de Parã, conforme a palavra do SENHOR; e todos aqueles homens eram líderes dos filhos de Israel.
Then Moses sent them out of the wildernesse of Paran at the commandement of the Lord: all those men were heades of the children of Israel.
4 Os nomes dos quais são estes: da tribo de Rúben, Samua, filho de Zacur.
Also their names are these: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the sonne of Zaccur:
5 Da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori.
Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the sonne of Hori:
6 Da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné.
Of the tribe of Iudah, Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh:
7 Da tribo de Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José.
Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the sonne of Ioseph:
8 Da tribo de Efraim, Oseias, filho de Num.
Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the sone of Nun:
9 Da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu.
Of the tribe of Beniamin, Palti the sonne of Raphu:
10 Da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi.
Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the sone of Sodi:
11 Da tribo de José: pela tribo de Manassés, Gadi, filho de Susi.
Of the tribe of Ioseph, to wit, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the sonne of Susi:
12 Da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali.
Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the sonne of Gemalli:
13 Da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael.
Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the sonne of Michael:
14 Da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi.
Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the sonne of Vophsi:
15 Da tribo de Gade, Guel, filho de Maqui.
Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the sonne of Machi.
16 Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou para reconhecer a terra; e a Oseias, filho de Num, Moisés lhe pôs o nome de Josué.
These are the names of the men, which Moses sent to spie out the lande: and Moses called ye name of Oshea the sonne of Nun, Iehoshua.
17 Então Moisés os enviou para reconhecer a terra de Canaã, dizendo-lhes: “Subi por aqui, pelo sul, e subi ao monte:
So Moses sent them to spie out the lande of Canaan, and said vnto them, Go vp this way toward the South, and go vp into the moutaines,
18 e observai a terra que tal é; e o povo que a habita, se é forte ou débil, se pouco ou numeroso;
And consider the land what it is, and the people that dwel therein, whether they be strong or weake, either fewe or many,
19 qual é a terra habitada, se é boa ou má; e quais são as cidades habitadas, se de tendas ou de fortalezas;
Also what the lande is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad: and what cities they be, that they dwell in, whether they dwell in tents, or in walled townes:
20 e qual é o terreno, se é fértil ou fraco, se nele há ou não árvores; esforçai-vos, e colhei do fruto daquela terra.” E o tempo era o tempo das primeiras uvas.
And what the land is: whether it be fat or leane, whether there be trees therein, or not. And be of good courage, and bring of the fruite of the lande (for then was the time of the first ripe grapes)
21 E eles subiram, e reconheceram a terra desde o deserto de Zim até Reobe, entrando em Hamate.
So they went vp, and searched out the lande, from the wildernesse of Zin vnto Rehob, to go to Hamath,
22 E subiram pelo sul, e vieram até Hebrom: e ali estavam Aimã, e Sesai, e Talmai, filhos de Anaque. Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã, a do Egito.
And they ascended toward the South, and came vnto Hebron, where were Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak. And Hebron was built seuen yeere before Zoan in Egypt.
23 E chegaram até o ribeiro de Escol, e dali cortaram um ramo com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois em uma vara, e das romãs e dos figos.
Then they came to the riuer of Eshcol, and cut downe thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it vpon a barre betweene two, and brought of the pomegranates and of the figges.
24 E chamou-se aquele lugar vale de Escol pelo cacho que cortaram dali os filhos de Israel.
That place was called the riuer Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes, which the children of Israel cut downe thence.
25 E voltaram de reconhecer a terra ao fim de quarenta dias.
Then after fourtie dayes, they turned againe from searching of the land.
26 E andaram e vieram a Moisés e a Arão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, no deserto de Parã, em Cades, e deram-lhes a resposta, e a toda a congregação, e lhes mostraram o fruto da terra.
And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and vnto al the Congregation of the children of Israel, in the wildernesse of Paran, to Kadesh, and brought to the, and to all the Congregation tydings, and shewed them the fruite of the lande.
27 E lhe contaram, e disseram: Nós chegamos à terra à qual nos enviaste, a que certamente flui leite e mel; e este é o fruto dela.
And they tolde him, and saide, We came vnto the land whither thou hast sent vs, and surely it floweth with milke and honie: and here is of the fruite of it.
28 Mas o povo que habita aquela terra é forte, e as cidades muito grandes e fortes; e também vimos ali os filhos de Anaque.
Neuerthelesse the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled and exceeding great: and moreouer, we sawe the sonnes of Anak there.
29 Amaleque habita a terra do sul; e os heteus, e os jebuseus, e os amorreus, habitam no monte; e os cananeus habitam junto ao mar, e à beira do Jordão.
The Amalekites dwell in the South countrey, and the Hittites, and the Iebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountaines, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Iorden.
30 Então Calebe fez calar o povo diante de Moisés, e disse: Subamos logo, e passemos a ela; que mais poderemos que ela.
Then Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and saide, Let vs go vp at once, and possesse it: for vndoubtedly we shall ouercome it.
31 Mas os homens que subiram com ele, disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo; porque é mais forte que nós.
But the men, that went vp with him, saide, we be not able to goe vp against the people: for they are stronger then we.
32 E falaram mal entre os filhos de Israel da terra que haviam reconhecido, dizendo: A terra por de onde passamos para reconhecê-la, é terra que consome a seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos em meio dela, são homens de grande estatura.
So they brought vp an euill report of the land which they had searched for the children of Israel, saying, The lande which we haue gone through to search it out, is a land that eateth vp the inhabitants thereof: for all the people that we sawe in it, are men of great stature.
33 Também vimos ali gigantes, filhos de Anaque, raça dos gigantes: e éramos nós, à nossa aparência, como gafanhotos; e assim lhes parecíamos a eles.
For there we sawe gyants, the sonnes of Anak, which come of the gyants, so that we seemed in our sight like grashoppers: and so wee were in their sight.
