Neemias 13

1 Naquele dia se leu no livro de Moisés perante os ouvidos do povo, e foi achado nele escrito que os amonitas e os moabitas eternamente não podiam entrar na congregação de Deus;

On that day, a portion, was read in the book of Moses, in the ears of the people, —and it was found written therein, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not enter into the convocation of God, unto times age-abiding;

2 Porque não saíram ao encontro dos filhos de Israel com pão e água; em vez disso, contrataram a Balaão contra eles, para os amaldiçoar; ainda que nosso Deus tornou a maldição em bênção.

because they met not the sons of Israel, with bread and with water, —but hired against them Balaam, to curse them, although our God turned the curse into a blessing.

3 Sucedeu, pois, que, quando eles ouviram esta lei, separaram de Israel toda mistura.

So it came to pass, when they had heard the law, —that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel.

4 E antes disto, Eliasibe, o sacerdote, sendo superintendente da câmara da casa de nosso Deus, tinha se aparentado com Tobias,

Now, before this, Eliashib the priest, who was set over a chamber of the house of God, was allied unto Tobiah;

5 E tinha lhe preparado uma câmara grande, na qual antes se guardavam as ofertas de alimentos, o incenso, os vasos, os dízimos de grão, de vinho e de azeite, que estava ordenado [dar] aos levitas, aos cantores, e aos porteiros; como também a oferta alçada para os sacerdotes.

so he prepared him a large chamber, where aforetime they used to lay the meal-offering, the frankincense, and the utensils, and the tithe of the corn, the new wine and the oil, in charge of the Levites, and the singers, and the doorkeepers, —and the heave-offerings for the priests.

6 Porém enquanto tudo isto [acontecia], eu não estava em Jerusalém; porque no ano trinta e dois de Artaxerxes rei da Babilônia, eu vim ao rei; mas ao fim de [alguns] dias obtive permissão para me ausentar do rei.

But, throughout all this [time], was I not in Jerusalem, —for, in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon, I came unto the king, and, at the end of certain days, obtained I leave of the king;

7 E vim a Jerusalém, e entendi o mal que Eliasibe tinha feito por Tobias, preparando-lhe uma câmara nos pátios da casa de Deus.

and came to Jerusalem, —and had intelligence of the wickedness which Eliashib had committed for Tobiah, in preparing for him a chamber, in the courts of the house of God;

8 E isso me desagradou muito; por isso lancei todas as coisas da casa de Tobias para fora da câmara;

and it grieved me exceedingly, —and I cast forth all the household utensils of Tobiah, outside of the chamber.

9 E mandei purificar as câmaras, e trouxe de volta os utensílios da casa de Deus, com as ofertas de alimento, e o incenso.

Then commanded I, and they purified the chambers, —and I put back there, the utensils of the house of God, the meal-offering and the frankincense.

10 Também entendi que as porções dos Levitas não estavam sendo dadas [a eles]; e que os levitas e cantores que faziam o serviço haviam fugido cada um para seu campo.

Then came I to know, that, the portions of the Levites, had not been given [them], —so that the Levites and the singers, who had been doing the work, had fled every one to his field.

11 Então repreendi aos oficiais, e disse: Por que a casa de Deus está abandonada? Porém eu os juntei, e os restaurei em seu posto.

Therefore contended I with the deputies, and said, Wherefore is the house of God, forsaken? So I gathered them together, and set them in their place.

12 Então todo Judá trouxe o dízimo do grão, do suco de uva e do azeite, aos depósitos.

Then, all Judah, brought in the tithe of corn, and new wine, and oil, unto the treasuries;

13 E pus por tesoureiros sobre os depósitos ao sacerdote Selemias e ao escriba Zadoque, e dos Levitas, a Pedaías; e próximo a eles Hanã filho de Zacur, filho de Matanias; pois eram considerados fiéis, e [assim] foram encarregados de distribuírem a seus irmãos.

and I made treasurers over the treasuries—Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah from among the Levites, and, next unto them, Hanan son of Zaccur, son of Mattaniah, —for faithful were they accounted, and it was [laid] upon them to distribute unto their brethren.

14 Por isto, meu Deus, lembra-te de mim, ó Deus, e não risques minhas bondades que eu fiz na casa de meu Deus, e em seus serviços.

Remember me, O my God, concerning this, —and do not wipe out my lovingkindnesses, which I have done for the house of my God, and for those keeping charge thereof.

15 Naqueles dias vi em Judá [alguns] que pisavam nas presnas de uvas no sábado, e que traziam feixes, e carregavam asnos, como também vinho, uvas, figos, e todo tipo de carga, que traziam a Jerusalém no dia de sábado; e os adverti quanto ao dia em que vendiam alimentos.

In those days, saw I in Judah—some treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves and lading asses, moreover also wine, grapes, and figs, and every kind of burden, which they were bringing into Jerusalem on the sabbath day, —so I protested against it, as a day for them to sell provisions.

16 Também tírios estavam nela que traziam peixe e toda mercadoria, e vendiam no sábado aos filhos de Judá, e em Jerusalém.

And, men of Tyre, dwelt therein, who were bringing in fish—and every kind of ware for sale, —and were selling, on the sabbath, to the sons of Judah, and in Jerusalem;

17 Assim repreendi aos nobres de Judá, e disse-lhes: Que mal é este que fazeis, profanando o dia de sábado?

so I contended with the nobles of Judah, —and said unto them, What is this wicked thing which, ye, are doing, and profaning the sabbath day?

18 Por acaso não fizeram assim vossos pais, e nosso Deus trouxe todo este mal sobre nós e sobre esta cidade? Porém vós acrescentais ainda mais ira sobre Israel profanando o sábado.

Was it not, thus, your fathers did, and our God brought upon us all this calamity, and upon this city?—and, ye, would add indignation against Israel, by profaning the sabbath!

19 Sucedeu pois, que quando ia escurecendo às portas de Jerusalém antes do sábado, disse que eu mandei que se fechassem as portas, e mandei que não as abrissem até depois do sábado; e pus às portas alguns de meus servos, para que carga nenhuma entrasse no dia de sábado.

And it came to pass, when the gates of Jerusalem made a shadow before the sabbath, then gave I word, and they shut the doors, and I gave word, that they should not open them, until after the sabbath, —and, some of my young men, set I near the gates, so that no burden should be brought in, on the sabbath day.

20 Assim os comerciantes e vendedores de toda mercadoria passaram a noite fora de Jerusalém uma ou duas vezes.

But the traders and sellers of all kinds of wares lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice.

21 Por isso eu lhes adverti, dizendo: Por que vos passais a noite diante do muro? Se o fizerdes outra vez, agirei com violência contra vós. Desde então não vieram no sábado.

Therefore I testified against them, and said unto them, Wherefore are ye lodging against the wall? if ye do it again, a hand, will I thrust upon you, —From that time, they came not on the sabbath.

22 Também disse aos levitas que se purificassem, e viessem a guardar as portas, para santificar o dia de sábado. Nisto também, meu Deus, lembra-te de mim, e perdoa-me segundo a grandeza de tua bondade.

And I gave word to the Levites, that they should be purifying themselves and coming in, as keepers of the gates, to hallow the sabbath day. This also, remember to me, O my God, and have pity upon me, according to the abundance of thy lovingkindness.

23 Vi também naqueles dias judeus que tinham se casado com mulheres de asdoditas, amonitas, e moabitas,

Moreover, in these days, saw I the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, of Moab;

24 E seus filhos a metade falavam asdodita, e não sabiam falar judaico, mas sim a língua de outros povos.

and, their children, were one-half speaking the language of Ashdod, and understood not how to speak the language of the Jews, —but after the tongue of both people.

25 Por isso eu os repreendi, e os amaldiçoei, e espanquei [alguns] deles, e arranquei-lhes os cabelos, e os fiz jurar por Deus, dizendo: Não dareis vossas filhas a seus filhos, e não tomareis de suas filhas, nem para vossos filhos, nem para vós.

So I contended with them, and laid a curse upon them, and I smote, from among them, certain men, and pulled out their hair, —and I put them on oath by God, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take of their daughters, for your sons nor for yourselves.

26 Por acaso não pecou nisto Salomão, rei de Israel? Ainda que entre muitas nações não houve rei semelhante a ele, que era amado pelo seu Deus, e Deus o tinha posto por rei sobre todo Israel, [contudo] as mulheres estrangeiras o fizeram pecar.

Was it not, over these things, that Solomon king of Israel sinned—though, among many nations, there was no king such as he, and he was, beloved by his God, and so God gave him to be king over all Israel, —even him, did foreign women, cause to sin.

27 E aceitaríamos ouvir de vós, para fazerdes todo este mal tão grande de transgredir contra nosso Deus, casando-se com mulheres estrangeiras?

Unto you, then, shall we hearken, to do all this great wickedness, to act unfaithfully with our God, —by marrying foreign wives?

28 E um dos filhos de Joiada, filho de Eliasibe o sumo sacerdote era genro de Sambalate o horonita; por isso eu o afugentei de mim.

And, one of the sons of Joiada, son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite, —therefore I chased him from me.

29 Lembra-te deles, meu Deus, pois contaminam o sacerdócio, como também o pacto do sacerdócio e dos levitas.

Remember them, O my God, —on account of the Defilings of the Priesthood, and the Covenant of the Priesthood, and of the Levites.

30 Assim eu os limpei de todo estrangeiro, e ordenei as responsabilidades dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, cada um em sua obra;

So I purified them from everything foreign, —and appointed charges unto the priests and unto the Levites, every one in his work;

31 Como também para as ofertas de lenha em tempos determinados, e para as primícias. Lembra-te de mim, meu Deus, para o bem.

also for the offering of wood, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good!
