Mateus 5
1 E quando [Jesus] viu as multidões, subiu a um monte; e sentando-se, achegaram-se a ele os seus discípulos.
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain; and when he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
2 Então ele abriu sua boca e lhes ensinou, dizendo:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying: —
3 Benditos são os humildes de espírito, porque deles é o Reino dos céus.
Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Benditos são os que choram, porque eles serão consolados.
Blessed are they who mourn; for they will be comforted.
5 Benditos são os mansos, porque eles herdarão a terra.
Blessed are the meek; for they will inherit the earth.
6 Benditos são os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão saciados.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they will be filled.
7 Benditos são os misericordiosos, porque eles alcançarão misericórdia.
Blessed are the merciful; for they will obtain mercy.
8 Benditos são os limpos de coração, porque eles verão a Deus.
Blessed are the pure in heart; for they will see God.
9 Benditos são os pacíficos, porque eles serão chamados filhos de Deus.
Blessed are the peace-makers; for they will be called sons of God.
10 Benditos são os que sofrem perseguição por causa da justiça, porque deles é o Reino dos céus.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness' sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Benditos sois vós, quando vos insultarem, perseguirem, e mentirem, falando contra vós todo mal por minha causa.
Blessed are ye, when men revile you, and persecute you, and say every thing that is bad against you, falsely, for my sake.
12 Jubilai e alegrai-vos, porque grande é vossa recompensa nos céus; pois assim perseguiram aos profetas que foram antes de vós.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so did they persecute the prophets that were before you.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra; mas se o sal perder seu sabor, com que se salgará? Para nada mais presta, a não ser para se lançar fora, e ser pisado pelas pessoas.
Ye are the salt of the earth. But if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall itself be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot by men.
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo; não se pode esconder uma cidade fundada sobre o monte;
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid;
15 Nem se acende a lâmpada para se pôr debaixo de um cesto, mas sim na luminária, e ilumina a todos quantos estão na casa.
nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the lamp-stand; and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
16 Assim brilhe vossa luz diante das pessoas, para que vejam vossas boas obras, e glorifiquem ao vosso Pai, que está nos céus.
In like manner let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 Não penseis que vim para revogar a Lei ou os Profetas; não vim para revogar, mas sim para cumprir.
Think not that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 Porque em verdade vos digo que, até que o céu e a terra passem, nem um jota nem um til passará da Lei até que tudo se cumpra.
For truly do I say to you, Not till heaven and earth pass away, shall one jot or one tittle pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Portanto qualquer um que desobedecer a um destes menores mandamentos, e assim ensinar às pessoas, será chamado o menor no Reino dos céus; porém qualquer que [os] cumprir e ensinar, esse será chamado grande no Reino dos céus.
Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them, he will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Porque eu vos digo que se a vossa justiça não for maior que a dos escribas e dos fariseus, de maneira nenhuma entrareis no Reino dos céus.
For I say to you, Unless your righteousness shall exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, ye will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ouvistes o que foi dito aos antigos: “Não cometerás homicídio”; “mas qualquer um que cometer homicídio será réu do julgamento”.
Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, “Thou shalt not kill; and whoever shall kill, shall be in danger of the Judges.”
22 Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que se irar contra seu irmão será réu do julgamento. E qualquer um que disser a seu irmão: “Idiota!” será réu do tribunal. E qualquer que [lhe] disser: “Louco!” será réu do fogo do inferno. (Geenna g1067)
But I say to you, that whoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the Judges; and whoever shall say to his brother, Simpleton! shall be in danger of the Council; and whoever shall say, Fool! shall be in danger of hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 Portanto, se trouxeres tua oferta ao altar, e ali te lembrares que teu irmão tem algo contra ti,
Therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother hath aught against thee,
24 Deixa ali tua oferta diante do altar e vai primeiro reconciliar-te com teu irmão, e então vem oferecer a tua oferta.
leave there thy gift before the altar, and go away; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Faze acordo depressa com teu adversário, enquanto estás com ele no caminho, para não acontecer que o adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz ao oficial, e te lancem na prisão.
Agree with thine adversary at law quickly, while thou art on the road with him; lest the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Em verdade te digo que não sairás dali enquanto não pagares a última moeda.
Truly do I say to thee, Thou wilt not come out thence, till thou hast paid the last farthing.
27 Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Não adulterarás”.
Ye have heard that it was said, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
28 Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que olhar para uma mulher para a cobiçar, em seu coração já adulterou com ela.
But I say to you, that whoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 Se o teu olho direito te faz pecar, arranca-o e lança-o de ti; porque é melhor para ti que um dos teus membros se perca do que o teu corpo todo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out, and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
30 E se a tua mão direita te faz pecar, corta-a e lança-a de ti; porque é melhor para ti que um dos teus membros se perca do que o teu corpo todo vá ao inferno. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right hand cause thee to offend, cut it off, and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, than that thy whole body should go away into hell. (Geenna g1067)
31 Também foi dito: “Qualquer um que se divorciar de sua mulher, dê a ela carta de divórcio.
And it was said, “Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement.”
32 Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que se divorciar de sua mulher, a menos que seja por causa de pecado sexual, faz com que ela adultere; e qualquer um que se casar com a divorciada comete adultério.
But I say to you, that whoever putteth away his wife, unless it be on account of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whoever shall marry her when put away, committeth adultery.
33 Também ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: “Não jurarás falsamente”, “mas cumprirás ao Senhor os teus juramentos”.
Again ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, “Thou shalt not swear falsely, but shalt perform to the Lord thine oaths.”
34 Porém eu vos digo que de maneira nenhuma jureis; nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus;
But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 Nem pela terra, porque é o suporte de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei.
nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King;
36 Nem por tua cabeça jurarás, pois nem sequer um cabelo podes tornar branco ou preto.
nor shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 Mas seja vosso falar: “sim”, “sim”, “não”, “não”; porque o que disso passa procede do maligno.
But let your language be, Yea, yea; Nay; nay; for whatever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Olho por olho, e dente por dente”.
Ye have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.”
39 Mas eu vos digo que não resistais a quem for mau; em vez disso, a qualquer um que te bater à tua face direita, apresenta-lhe também a outra.
But I say to you, that ye resist not the evil-doer; but whoever smiteth thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also;
40 E ao que quiser disputar contigo, e te tomar tua túnica, deixa-lhe também a capa.
and if any one intends to sue thee at the law, and take thy coat, give up to him thy cloak also;
41 E se qualquer um te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas.
and whoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Dá a quem te pedir; e não te desvies de quem quiser de ti tomar emprestado.
Give to him that asketh of thee; and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not away.
43 Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Amarás teu próximo”, e “odiarás teu inimigo”.
Ye have heard that it was said, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.”
44 Porém eu vos digo: amai vossos inimigos e orai pelos que vos perseguem,
But I say to you, Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you;
45 Para que sejais filhos de vosso Pai que está nos céus; porque ele faz seu sol sair sobre maus e bons, e chover sobre justos e injustos.
that ye may become sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 Pois se amardes os que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Não fazem os publicanos também o mesmo?
For if ye love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same?
47 E se saudardes somente os vossos irmãos, o que fazeis de mais? Não fazem os gentios também assim?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye that excelleth? Do not even the heathen the same?
48 Portanto, sede vós perfeitos, assim como vosso Pai celestial é perfeito.
Be ye therefore perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
