Mateus 17
1 Seis dias depois, Jesus tomou consigo Pedro, Tiago, e seu irmão João, e os levou a sós a um monte alto.
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:
2 Então transfigurou-se diante deles; seu rosto brilhou como o sol, e suas roupas se tornaram brancas como a luz.
and he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.
3 E eis que lhes apareceram Moisés e Elias, falando com ele.
And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him.
4 Pedro, então, disse a Jesus: Senhor, bom é para nós estarmos aqui. Se queres, farei aqui três tendas: uma para ti, uma para Moisés, e uma para Elias.
And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
5 Enquanto ele ainda estava falando, eis que uma nuvem brilhante os cobriu. E eis que uma voz da nuvem disse: Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem me agrado; a ele ouvi.
While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 Quando os discípulos ouviram, caíram sobre seus rostos, e tiveram muito medo.
And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 Jesus se aproximou deles, tocou-os, e disse: Levantai-vos, e não tenhais medo.
And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 E quando eles levantaram seus olhos, não viram a ninguém, a não ser a Jesus somente.
And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, save Jesus only.
9 E enquanto desciam do monte, Jesus lhes disse a seguinte ordem: Não conteis a visão a ninguém, até que o Filho do homem seja ressuscitado dos mortos.
And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen from the dead.
10 E os discípulos lhe perguntaram: Por que, então, os escribas dizem que Elias tem que vir primeiro?
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come?
11 [Jesus lhes] respondeu: Em verdade Elias virá primeiro, e restaurará todas as coisas.
And he answered and said, Elijah indeed cometh, and shall restore all things:
12 Digo-vos, porém, que Elias já veio, mas não o reconheceram. Em vez disso fizeram dele tudo o que quiseram. Assim também o Filho do homem sofrerá por meio deles.
but I say unto you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but did unto him whatsoever they would. Even so shall the Son of man also suffer of them.
13 Então os discípulos entenderam que ele lhes falara a respeito de João Batista.
Then understood the disciples that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
14 E quando chegaram à multidão, veio a ele um homem, que se ajoelhou diante dele, e disse:
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, and saying,
15 Senhor, tem misericórdia do meu filho, que é epilético, e sofre muito mal; porque cai muitas vezes no fogo, e muitas vezes na água.
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously; for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and oft-times into the water.
16 E eu o trouxe aos teus discípulos, mas não o puderam curar.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Jesus respondeu: Ó geração incrédula e perversa! Até quando estarei convosco? Até quando vos suportarei? Trazei-o a mim aqui.
And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me.
18 E Jesus o repreendeu. Então o demônio saiu dele, e o menino sarou desde aquela hora.
And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour.
19 Depois os discípulos se aproximaram de Jesus em particular, e perguntaram: Por que nós não o pudemos expulsar?
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out?
20 E [Jesus] lhes respondeu: Por causa da vossa pouca fé; pois em verdade vos digo, que se tivésseis fé como um grão de mostarda, diríeis a este monte: “Passa-te daqui para lá”, E ele passaria. E nada vos seria impossível.
And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
22 E enquanto eles reuniam-se na Galileia, Jesus lhes disse: O Filho do homem será entregue em mãos de homens.
And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men;
23 E o matarão, e ele será ressuscitado ao terceiro dia. E eles se entristeceram muito.
and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were exceeding sorry.
24 E quando entraram em Cafarnaum, os cobradores da taxa de duas dracmas vieram a Pedro, e perguntaram: Vosso mestre não paga as duas dracmas?
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel?
25 Ele respondeu: Sim. Quando ele entrou em casa, Jesus o antecipou, dizendo: Que te parece, Simão? De quem os reis da terra cobram tributos ou taxas? Dos seus filhos, ou dos outros?
He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers?
26 Pedro respondeu: Dos outros. Jesus lhe disse: Logo, os filhos são livres de pagar.
And when he said, From strangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore the sons are free.
27 Mas para não os ofendermos, vai ao mar, e lança o anzol. Toma o primeiro peixe que subir, e quando lhe abrir a boca, acharás uma moeda de quatro dracmas. Toma-a, e dá a eles por mim e por ti.
But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
