Lamentações de Jeremias 5
1 Lembra-te, SENHOR, do que tem nos acontecido; presta atenção e olha nossa humilhação.
Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us; consider, and see our reproach.
2 Nossa herança passou a ser de estrangeiros, nossas casas de forasteiros.
Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3 Órfãos somos sem pai, nossas mães são como viúvas.
We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.
4 Bebemos nossa água por dinheiro; nossa lenha temos que pagar.
Our water have we to drink for money, our wood cometh unto us for a price.
5 Perseguição sofremos sobre nossos pescoços; estamos cansados, mas não temos descanso.
Our pursuers are on our necks: we are weary, we have no rest.
6 Nós nos rendemos aos egípcios e aos assírios para nos saciarmos de pão.
We have given the hand to Egypt, [and] to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Nossos pais pecaram, e não existem mais; porém nós levamos seus castigos.
Our fathers have sinned, [and] they are not; and we bear their iniquities.
8 Servos passaram a nos dominar; ninguém há que [nos] livre de suas mãos.
Bondmen rule over us: there is no deliverer out of their hand.
9 Com risco de vida trazemos nosso pão, por causa da espada do deserto.
We have to get our bread at the risk of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness.
10 Nossa pele se tornou negra como um forno, por causa do ardor da fome.
Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine.
11 Abusaram das mulheres em Sião, das virgens nas cidades de Judá.
They have ravished the women in Zion, the maids in the cities of Judah.
12 Os príncipes foram enforcados por sua mãos; não respeitaram as faces dos velhos.
Princes were hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders were not honoured.
13 Levaram os rapazes para moer, e os moços caíram debaixo da lenha [que carregavam].
The young men have borne the mill, and the youths have stumbled under the wood.
14 Os anciãos deixaram de [se sentarem] junto as portas, os rapazes de suas canções.
The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.
15 Acabou a alegria de nosso coração; nossa dança se tornou em luto.
The joy of our heart hath ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
16 Caiu a coroa de nossa cabeça; ai agora de nós, porque pecamos.
The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, for we have sinned!
17 Por isso nosso coração ficou fraco, por isso nossos olhos escureceram;
For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes have grown dim,
18 Por causa do monte de Sião, que está desolado; raposas andam nele.
Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: foxes walk over it.
19 Tu, SENHOR, permanecerás para sempre; [e] teu trono de geração após geração.
Thou, Jehovah, dwellest for ever; thy throne is from generation to generation.
20 Por que te esquecerias de nós para sempre e nos abandonarias por tanto tempo?
Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, dost thou forsake us so long time?
21 Converte-nos, SENHOR, a ti, e seremos convertidos; renova o nossos dias como antes;
Turn thou us unto thee, Jehovah, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
22 A não ser que tenhas nos rejeitado totalmente, e estejas enfurecido contra nós ao extremo.
Or is it that thou hast utterly rejected us? Wouldest thou be exceeding wroth against us?
