Lamentações de Jeremias 4
1 Como se escureceu o ouro! Como mudou o bom e fino ouro! As pedras do Santuário estão espalhadas pelas esquinas de todas as ruas.
How is the golde become so dimme? the most fine golde is changed, and the stones of the Sanctuarie are scattered in the corner of euery streete.
2 Os preciosos filhos de Sião, estimados como o ouro puro, como [agora] são considerados como vasos de barro, obra das mãos de oleiro!
The noble men of Zion coparable to fine golde, howe are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, euen the worke of the handes of the potter!
3 Até os chacais dão o peito para amamentar a seus filhotes; [porém] a filha de meu povo se tornou cruel, como os avestruzes no deserto.
Euen the dragons draw out the breastes, and giue sucke to their yong, but the daughter of my people is become cruell like the ostriches in the wildernesse.
4 Por causa da sede a língua da criança de peito se grudou a seu céu da boca; os meninos pedem pão, e ninguém há lhes reparta.
The tongue of the sucking childe cleaueth to the roofe of his mouth for thirst: the yong children aske bread, but no man breaketh it vnto them.
5 Os que comiam das melhores iguarias, [agora] desfalecem nas ruas; os que se criaram em carmesim abraçam o lixo.
They that did feede delicately, perish in the streetes: they that were brought vp in skarlet, embrace the dongue.
6 Pois maior é o castigo da filha de meu povo do que o [do] pecado de Sodoma, Que foi transtornada em um momento, e não assentaram sobre ela companhias.
For the iniquitie of the daughter of my people is become greater then the sinne of Sodom, that was destroyed as in a moment, and none pitched campes against her.
7 Seus nazireus eram mais alvos que a neve, mais brancos que o leite. Seus corpos eram mais avermelhados que rubis, [e] mais polidos que a safira;
Her Nazarites were purer then the snowe, and whiter then ye milke: they were more ruddie in bodie, then the redde precious stones; they were like polished saphir.
8 [Mas agora] sua aparência se escureceu mais que o carvão; não são mais reconhecidos nas ruas; sua pele está apegada a seus ossos, ficou seca como um pau.
Nowe their visage is blacker then a cole: they can not knowe them in the streetes: their skinne cleaueth to their bones: it is withered like a stocke.
9 Mais felizes foram os mortos pela espada do que os mortos pela fome; porque estes se abatem traspassados pela [falta] dos frutos do campo.
They that be slaine with the sword are better, then they that are killed with hunger: for they fade away as they were striken through for the fruites of the fielde.
10 As mãos das mulheres compassivas cozeram a seus filhos; serviram-lhes de comida na destruição da filha de meu povo.
The hands of the pitifull women haue sodden their owne children, which were their meate in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 O SENHOR cumpriu o seu furor, derramou o ardor de sua ira; e acendeu fogo em Sião, que consumiu seus fundamentos.
The Lord hath accomplished his indignation: he hath powred out his fierce wrath, he hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath deuoured the foundations thereof.
12 Nem os reis da terra, nem todos os que habitam no mundo, criam que o adversário e o inimigo entraria pelas portas de Jerusalém.
The Kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world would not haue beleeued that the aduersarie and the enemie should haue entred into the gates of Ierusalem:
13 [Assim] foi por causa dos pecados de seus profetas, por causa das maldades de seus sacerdotes, que derramaram o sangue dos justos em meio dela.
For the sinnes of her Prophets, and the iniquities of her Priests, that haue shed the blood of the iust in the middes of her.
14 Titubearam [como] cegos nas ruas, andaram contaminados de sangue, de maneira que ninguém podia tocar suas vestes.
They haue wandred as blinde men in the streetes, and they were polluted with blood, so that they would not touch their garments.
15 Gritavam-lhes: Afastai-vos, imundos! Afastai-vos, afastai-vos, não toqueis. Quando fugiram e andaram sem rumo, foi dito entre as nações: Aqui não morarão.
But they cried vnto them, Depart, ye polluted, depart, depart, touch not: therefore they fled away, and wandered: they haue sayd among the heathen, They shall no more dwell there.
16 A face do SENHOR os dispersou, não os olhará mais: não respeitaram a face dos sacerdotes, nem tiveram compaixão dos velhos.
The anger of the Lord hath scattered them, he will no more regard them: they reuerenced not the face of the Priestes, nor had compassion of the Elders.
17 Quanto a nós, desfaleceram-se nossos olhos [esperando] por socorro para nós; aguardávamos atentamente uma nação que não podia salvar.
Whiles we waited for our vaine helpe, our eyes failed: for in our waiting we looked for a nation that could not saue vs.
18 Caçaram nossos passos, de modo que não podíamos andar por nossas ruas; achegou-se o nosso fim, nossos dias se completaram, pois nosso fim veio.
They hunt our steppes that we cannot goe in our streetes: our ende is neere, our dayes are fulfilled, for our ende is come.
19 Nossos perseguidores foram mais velozes que as águias do céu; sobre os montes nos perseguiram, no deserto armaram ciladas para nós.
Our persecuters are swifter then the eagles of the heauen: they pursued vs vpon the mountaines, and layed waite for vs in the wildernes.
20 O fôlego de nossas narinas, o ungido do SENHOR, do qual dizíamos: Abaixo de sua sombra teremos vida entre as nações; foi preso em suas covas.
The breath of our nostrels, the Anoynted of the Lord was taken in their nets, of whome we sayde, Vnder his shadowe we shalbe preserued aliue among the heathen.
21 Goza-te e alegra-te, filha de Edom, que habitas na terra de Uz: porém o cálice também passará por ti; tu te embriagarás, e te desnudarás.
Reioyce and be glad, O daughter Edom, that dwellest in the lande of Vz, the cuppe also shall passe through vnto thee: thou shalt be drunken and vomit.
22 Cumpriu-se o castigo por tua maldade, ó filha de Sião; nunca mais te levará em cativeiro. Ele punirá tua maldade, ó filha de Edom; revelará os teus pecados.
Thy punishment is accomplished, O daughter Zion: he will no more carie thee away into captiuitie, but he will visite thine iniquitie, O daughter Edom, he wil discouer thy sinnes.
