Juízes 19
1 Naqueles dias, quando não havia rei em Israel, houve um levita que morava como peregrino nos lados do monte de Efraim, o qual se havia tomado mulher concubina de Belém de Judá.
And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
2 E sua concubina adulterou contra ele, e foi-se dele à casa de seu pai, a Belém de Judá, e esteve ali por tempo de quatro meses.
And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.
3 E levantou-se seu marido, e seguiu-a, para falar-lhe amorosamente e trazê-la de volta, levando consigo um criado seu e um par de asnos; e ela o meteu na casa de seu pai.
And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
4 E vendo-lhe o pai da moça, saiu-lhe a receber contente; e seu sogro, pai da moça, o deteve, e ficou em sua casa três dias, comendo e bebendo, e repousando ali.
And his father in law, the damsel's father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they did eat and drink, and lodged there.
5 E ao quarto dia, quando se levantaram de manhã, levantou-se também o levita para ir-se, e o pai da moça disse a seu genro: Conforta teu coração com um bocado de pão, e depois vos ireis.
And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel's father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.
6 E sentaram-se eles dois juntos, e comeram e beberam. E o pai da moça disse ao homem: Eu te rogo que te queiras ficar aqui esta noite, e teu coração se alegrará.
And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel's father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry.
7 E levantando-se o homem para ir-se, o sogro lhe constrangeu a que voltasse e tivesse ali a noite.
And when the man rose up to depart, his father in law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.
8 E ao quinto dia levantando-se de manhã para ir-se, disse-lhe o pai da moça: Conforta agora teu coração. E havendo comido ambos a dois, detiveram-se até que já declinava o dia.
And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart: and the damsel's father said, Comfort thine heart, I pray thee. And they tarried until afternoon, and they did eat both of them.
9 Levantou-se logo o homem para ir-se, ele, e sua concubina, e seu criado. Então seu sogro, o pai da moça, lhe disse: Eis que o dia declina para se pôr o sol, rogo-te que vos estejais aqui a noite; eis que o dia se acaba, passa aqui a noite, para que se alegre teu coração; e amanhã vos levantareis cedo a vosso caminho, e chegarás a tuas tendas.
And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel's father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thine heart may be merry; and to morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.
10 Mas o homem não quis ficar ali a noite, mas sim que se levantou e partiu, e chegou até em frente de Jebus, que é Jerusalém, com seu par de asnos preparados, e com sua concubina.
But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two asses saddled, his concubine also was with him.
11 E estando já junto a Jebus, o dia havia declinado muito: e disse o criado a seu senhor: Vem agora, e vamo-nos a esta cidade dos jebuseus, para que tenhamos nela a noite.
And when they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
12 E seu senhor lhe respondeu: Não iremos a nenhuma cidade de estrangeiros, que não seja dos filhos de Israel: antes passaremos até Gibeá. E disse a seu criado:
And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.
13 Vem, cheguemos a um desses lugares, para ter a noite em Gibeá, ou em Ramá.
And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
14 Passando pois, caminharam, e o sol se pôs junto a Gibeá, que era de Benjamim.
And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
15 E apartaram-se do caminho para entrar a ter ali a noite em Gibeá; e entrando, sentaram-se na praça da cidade, porque não houve quem os acolhesse em casa para passar a noite.
And they turned aside thither, to go in and to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for there was no man that took them into his house to lodging.
16 E eis que um homem velho, que à tarde vinha do campo de trabalhar; o qual era do monte de Efraim, e morava como peregrino em Gibeá, mas os moradores daquele lugar eram filhos de Benjamim.
And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.
17 E levantando o velho os olhos, viu aquele viajante na praça da cidade, e disse-lhe: Para onde vais, e de onde vens?
And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
18 E ele respondeu: Passamos de Belém de Judá aos lados do monte de Efraim, de onde eu sou; e parti até Belém de Judá; e vou à casa do SENHOR, e não há quem me receba em casa,
And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of YHWH; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.
19 Ainda que nós tenhamos palha e de comer para nossos asnos, e também temos pão e vinho para mim e para tua serva, e para o criado que está com teu servo; de nada temos falta.
Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.
20 E o homem velho disse: Paz seja contigo; tua necessidade toda seja somente a meu cargo, contanto que não passes a noite na praça.
And the old man said, Peace be with thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.
21 E metendo-os em sua casa, deu de comer a seus asnos; e eles se lavaram os pés, e comeram e beberam.
So he brought him into his house, and gave provender unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.
22 E quando estavam jubilosos, eis que os homens daquela cidade, homens malignos, cercam a casa, e batiam as portas, dizendo ao homem velho dono da casa: Tira fora o homem que entrou em tua casa, para que o conheçamos.
Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.
23 E saindo a eles aquele homem, amo da casa, disse-lhes: Não, irmãos meus, rogo-vos que não cometais este mal, pois que este homem entrou em minha casa, não façais esta maldade.
And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly.
24 Eis aqui minha filha virgem, e a concubina dele: eu as tirarei agora para vós; humilhai-as, e fazei com elas como vos parecer, e não façais a este homem coisa tão infame.
Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing.
25 Mas aqueles homens não lhe quiseram ouvir; pelo que tomando aquele homem sua concubina, tirou-a fora: e eles a conheceram, e abusaram dela toda a noite até a manhã, e deixaram-na quando apontava a alva.
But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
26 E já que amanhecia, a mulher veio, e caiu diante da porta da casa daquele homem onde seu senhor estava, até que foi de dia.
Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her master was, till it was light.
27 E levantando-se de manhã seu senhor, abriu as portas da casa, e saiu para ir seu caminho, e eis que, a mulher sua concubina estava estendida diante da porta da casa, com as mãos sobre o umbral.
And her master rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold.
28 E ele lhe disse: Levanta-te, e vamo-nos. Mas ela não respondeu. Então a levantou o homem, e lançando-a sobre seu asno, levantou-se e foi-se a seu lugar.
And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her up upon an ass, and the man rose up, and got him unto his place.
29 E em chegando à sua casa, toma uma espada, pegou sua concubina, e despedaçou-a com seus ossos em doze partes, e enviou-as por todos os termos de Israel.
And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.
30 E todo aquele que o via, dizia: Jamais se fez nem visto tal coisa, desde o tempo que os filhos de Israel subiram da terra do Egito até hoje. Considerai isto, dai conselho, e falai.
And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds.
