João 16

1 Estas coisas tenho vos dito para que não tropeceis na fé.

THESE things have I spoken, that ye might not be stumbled.

2 Expulsarão a vós das sinagogas; mas a hora vem, quando qualquer que vos matar, pensará fazer serviço a Deus.

They will put you out of their synagogues: yea, the hour is coming, that every one who killeth you will think he offers God a sacred service.

3 E estas coisas vos farão, porque nem ao Pai, nem a mim me conheceram.

And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

4 Porém tenho vos dito isto para que, quando aquela hora vier, disso vos lembreis, que já o dissera a vós; mas isto eu não vos disse desde o princípio, porque eu estava convosco.

But these things have I spoken to you, that when the hour is come, ye may remember the same for I had told you. But these things I told you not at the beginning, because I was with you.

5 E agora vou para aquele que me enviou; e nenhum de vós me pergunta: Para onde vais?

But now I am going away to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither art thou going?

6 Porém, porque vos disse estas coisas, a tristeza encheu vosso coração.

But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7 Mas vos digo a verdade, que vos convém que eu vá; porque se eu não for, o Consolador não virá a vós; porém se eu for, eu o enviarei a vós.

Yet I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I went not away, the Comforter would not come to you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.

8 E vindo ele, convencerá ao mundo do pecado, e da justiça, e do juízo.

And when he cometh, he will convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Do pecado, porque não creem em mim;

of sin first, because they believe not in me;

10 E da justiça, porque vou para meu Pai, e não me vereis mais;

then of righteousness, because I am going to the Father, so ye see me no more;

11 E do juízo, porque o Príncipe deste mundo já está julgado.

and of judgment, because the ruler of this world hath sentence pronounced on him.

12 Ainda tenho muitas coisas que vos dizer, mas agora [ainda] não podeis suportá-las.

I have many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them just now.

13 Porém quando vier aquele Espírito de verdade, ele vos guiará em toda verdade. Porque de si mesmo não falará; mas falará tudo o que ouvir; E ele vos anunciará as coisas que virão.

But when he is come, the Spirit of truth, he will conduct you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever things he shall hear, he shall speak: and he will declare to you the things that shall come hereafter.

14 Ele me glorificará, porque tomará do [que é] meu, e vos anunciará.

He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15 Tudo quanto tem o Pai é meu; por isso eu disse, que tomará do [que é] meu, e vos anunciará.

All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

16 Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis.

A little while longer, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father.

17 Disseram pois [alguns] de seus discípulos uns aos outros: Que é isto que ele nos diz: Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis; e porque vou ao Pai?

Then said some of the disciples unto each other, What is this which he saith to us, A little while longer, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and this, because I am going to the Father?

18 Então diziam: Que é isto que ele diz? Um pouco? Não sabemos o que diz.

They said therefore, What is this which he saith, This little while? we know not what he means.

19 Conheceu pois Jesus que lhe queriam perguntar, e disse-lhes: Perguntais entre vós sobre isto que disse: Um pouco, e não me vereis; e mais um pouco, e me vereis?

Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Are ye questioning among yourselves concerning this declaration, which I spake, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me?

20 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que vós chorareis, e lamentareis, e o mundo se alegrará, e vós estareis tristes; mas vossa tristeza se tornará em alegria.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be very sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

21 A mulher quando está no parto tem tristeza, porque sua hora é vinda; mas havendo nascido a criança, já não se lembra da aflição, pela alegria de um homem ter nascido no mundo.

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when the little son is born, she no more remembers the anguish, for joy that a man is brought into the world.

22 Assim também vós agora na verdade tendes tristeza; mas novamente vos verei, e vosso coração se alegrará, e ninguém tirará vossa alegria de vós.

And ye therefore have indeed at present sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall be made glad, and your joy no man taketh from you.

23 E naquele dia nada me perguntareis. Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que tudo quanto pedirdes a meu Pai em meu nome, ele vos dará.

And in that hour ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, That whatsoever things ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

24 Até agora nada pedistes em meu nome; pedi, e recebereis, para que vossa alegria seja completa.

Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be complete.

25 Estas coisas vos falei por parábolas; porém a hora vem quando não mais vos falarei por parábolas; mas vos falarei abertamente sobre o Pai.

These things have I spoken to you in parables: but the hour is coming when I will no more speak to you in parables, but will plainly inform you respecting the Father.

26 Naquele dia pedireis em meu nome; e não vos digo, que eu suplicarei ao Pai por vós.

In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I do not say to you, I will entreat the Father for you:

27 Pois o próprio Pai vos ama, porque vós me amastes, e crestes que eu saí de Deus.

for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

28 Saí do Pai, e vim ao mundo; novamente deixo o mundo, e vou ao Pai.

I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I am leaving the world, and going to the Father.

29 Disseram-lhe seus Discípulos: Eis que agora falas abertamente, e nenhuma parábola dizes.

His disciples said unto him, Lo! now thou speakest plainly, and speakest in no-wise proverbial.

30 Agora sabemos que sabes todas as coisas; e não necessitas que ninguém te pergunte. Por isso cremos que saíste de Deus.

Now we know that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any person should ask thee: by this we believe that thou hast come forth from God.

31 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Agora credes?

Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

32 Eis que a hora vem, e já é chegada, quando sereis dispersos, cada um por si, e me deixareis só. Porém não estou só, porque o Pai está comigo.

Behold, the hour is coming, yea, it is already come, that ye shall be dispersed, each after his own concerns, and shall leave me alone: though I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33 Estas coisas tenho vos dito para que tenhais paz em mim; no mundo tereis aflição; mas tende bom ânimo; eu venci o mundo.

These things have I spoken to you, that ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good courage; I have overcome the world.
