Jó 30
1 Porém agora riem de mim os mais jovens do que eu, cujos pais eu havia desdenhado até de os pôr com os cães de meu rebanho.
But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.
2 De que também me serviria força de suas mãos, nos quais o vigor já pereceu?
Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?
3 Por causa da pobreza e da fome andavam sós; roem na terra seca, no lugar desolado e deserto em trevas.
For lack and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.
4 Que colhiam malvas entre os arbustos, e seu alimento eram as raízes dos zimbros.
Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their food.
5 Do meio [das pessoas] eram expulsos, e gritavam contra eles, como a um ladrão.
They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief; )
6 Habitavam nos barrancos dos ribeiros secos, nos buracos da terra, e nas rochas.
To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.
7 Bramavam entre os arbustos, e se ajuntavam debaixo das urtigas.
Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.
8 Eram filhos de tolos, filhos sem nome, e expulsos de [sua] terra.
They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.
9 Porém agora sirvo-lhes de chacota, e sou para eles um provérbio de escárnio.
And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.
10 Eles me abominam [e] se afastam de mim; porém não hesitam em cuspir no meu rosto.
They detest me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.
11 Pois [Deus] desatou minha corda, e me oprimiu; por isso tiraram [de si] todo constrangimento perante meu rosto.
Because he has loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.
12 À direita os jovens se levantam; empurram meus pés, e preparam contra mim seus caminhos de destruição.
Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.
13 Destroem meu caminho, e promovem minha miséria, sem necessitarem que alguém os ajude.
They ruin my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.
14 Eles vêm [contra mim] como que por uma brecha larga, [e] revolvem-se entre a desolação.
They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.
15 Pavores se voltam contra mim; perseguem minha honra como o vento, e como nuvem passou minha prosperidade.
Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passes away as a cloud.
16 Por isso agora minha alma se derrama em mim; dias de aflição têm me tomado.
And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.
17 De noite meus ossos se furam em mim, e meus pulsos não descansam.
My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.
18 Por grande força [de Deus] minha roupa está estragada; ele me prendeu como a gola de minha roupa.
By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it binds me about as the collar of my coat.
19 Lançou-me na lama, e fiquei semelhante ao pó e à cinza.
He has cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.
20 Clamo a ti, porém tu não me respondes; eu fico de pé, porém tu ficas [apenas] olhando para mim.
I cry unto you, and you do not hear me: I stand up, and you regard me not.
21 Tu te tornaste cruel para comigo; com a força de tua mão tu me atacas.
You are become cruel to me: with your strong hand you oppose yourself against me.
22 Levantas-me sobre o vento, [e] me fazes cavalgar [sobre ele]; e dissolves o meu ser.
You lift me up to the wind; you cause me to ride upon it, and dissolve my substance.
23 Porque eu sei que me levarás à morte; e à casa determinada a todos os viventes.
For I know that you will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.
24 Porém não se estende a mão para quem está em ruínas, quando clamam em sua opressão?
Nevertheless he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.
25 Por acaso eu não chorei pelo que estava em dificuldade, [e] minha alma não se angustiou pelo necessitado?
Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?
26 Quando eu esperava o bem, então veio o mal; quando eu esperava a luz, veio a escuridão.
When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.
27 Minhas entranhas fervem, e não se aquietam; dias de aflição me confrontam.
My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.
28 Ando escurecido, mas não pelo sol; levanto-me na congregação, e clamo por socorro.
I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.
29 Tornei-me irmão dos chacais, e companheiro dos avestruzes.
I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.
30 Minha pele se escureceu sobre mim, e meus ossos se inflamam de febre.
My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.
31 Por isso minha harpa passou a ser para lamentação, e minha flauta para vozes dos que choram.
My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.
