Jó 23
1 Porém Jó respondeu, dizendo:
Then Job answered and said:
2 Até hoje minha queixa é uma amargura; a mão [de Deus] sobre mim é mais pesada que meu gemido.
Even to-day is my complaint bitter; my hand is become heavy because of my groaning.
3 Ah se eu soubesse como poderia achá-lo! [Então] eu me chegaria até seu trono.
Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat!
4 Apresentaria minha causa diante dele, e encheria minha boca de argumentos.
I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 Eu saberia as palavras que ele me responderia, e entenderia o que me diria.
I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say unto me.
6 Por acaso ele brigaria comigo com seu grande poder? Não, pelo contrário, ele me daria atenção.
Would He contend with me in His great power? Nay; but He would give heed unto me.
7 Ali o íntegro pleitearia com ele, e eu me livraria para sempre de meu Juiz.
There the upright might reason with Him; so should I be delivered for ever from my Judge.
8 Eis que se eu for ao oriente, ele não está ali; [se for] ao ocidente, e não o percebo;
Behold, I go forward, but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
9 Se ao norte ele opera, eu não [o] vejo; se ele se esconde ao sul, não [o] enxergo.
On the left hand, when He doth work, but I cannot behold Him, He turneth Himself to the right hand, but I cannot see Him.
10 Porém ele conhece meu caminho: Provar-me-á, e sairei como ouro.
For He knoweth the way that I take; when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
11 Meus pés seguiram seus passos; guardei seu caminho, e não me desviei.
My foot hath held fast to His steps, His way have I kept, and turned not aside.
12 Nunca retirei [de mim] o preceito de seus lábios, e guardei as palavras de sua boca mais que minha porção [de comida].
I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured up the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
13 Porém se ele está decidido, quem poderá o desviar? O que sua alma quiser, isso fará.
But He is at one with Himself, and who can turn Him? And what His soul desireth, even that He doeth.
14 Pois ele cumprirá o que está determinado para mim; ele [ainda] tem muitas coisas como estas consigo.
For He will perform that which is appointed for me; and many such things are with Him.
15 Por isso eu me perturbo em sua presença. Quando considero [isto], tenho medo dele.
Therefore am I affrighted at His presence; when I consider, I am afraid of Him.
16 Deus enfraqueceu meu coração; o Todo-Poderoso tem me perturbado.
Yea, God hath made my heart faint, and the Almighty hath affrighted me;
17 Pois não estou destruído por causa das trevas, nem por causa da escuridão que encobriu meu rosto.
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did He cover the thick darkness from my face.
