Jó 20
1 E Zofar, o naamita, respondeu, dizendo:
Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,
2 Por isso meus meus pensamentos me fazem responder; por causa da agitação dentro de mim.
"Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
3 Eu ouvi a repreensão que me envergonha; mas o espírito desde o meu entendimento responderá por mim.
I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.
4 Por acaso não sabes isto, [que foi] desde a antiguidade, desde que o ser humano foi posto no mundo?
Do you not know this from old time, since humankind was placed on earth,
5 Que o júbilo dos perversos é breve, e a alegria do hipócrita [dura apenas] um momento?
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
6 Ainda que sua altura subisse até o céu, e sua cabeça chegasse até as nuvens,
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,
7 [Mesmo assim] com o seu excremento perecerá para sempre; os que houverem o visto, dirão: Onde ele está?
yet he shall perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him shall say, 'Where is he?'
8 Como um sonho voará, e não será achado; e será afugentado como a visão noturna.
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found. Yes, he shall be chased away like a vision of the night.
9 O olho que já o viu nunca mais o verá; nem seu lugar olhará mais para ele.
The eye which saw him shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more see him.
10 Seus filhos procurarão o favor dos pobres; e suas mãos devolverão a sua riqueza.
His children shall seek the favor of the poor. His hands shall give back his wealth.
11 Seus ossos estão cheios de sua juventude, que juntamente com ele se deitará no pó.
His bones are full of his youth, but youth shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Se o mal é doce em sua boca, e o esconde debaixo de sua língua;
"Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,
13 Se o guarda para si, e não o abandona; ao contrário, o retém em sua boca.
though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
14 Sua comida se mudará em suas entranhas, veneno de cobras será em seu interior.
yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
15 Engoliu riquezas, porém as vomitará; Deus as tirará de seu ventre.
He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
16 Veneno de cobras subará; língua de víbora o matará.
He shall suck cobra venom. The viper's tongue shall kill him.
17 Não verá correntes, rios, [e] ribeiros de mel e de manteiga.
He shall not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
18 Restituirá o trabalho e não o engolirá; da riqueza de seu comério não desfrutará.
That for which he labored he shall restore, and shall not swallow it down. According to the substance that he has gotten, he shall not rejoice.
19 Pois oprimiu [e] desamparou aos pobres; roubou a casa que não edificou;
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.
20 Por não ter sentido sossego em seu ventre, nada preservará de sua tão desejada riqueza.
"Because he knew no quietness within him, he shall not save anything of that in which he delights.
21 Nada [lhe] restou para que devorasse; por isso sua riqueza não será duradoura.
There was nothing left that he did not devour, therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
22 Estando cheio de sua fartura, [ainda] estará angustiado; todo o poder da miséria virá sobre ele.
In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress shall overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery shall come on him.
23 Quando ele estiver enchendo seu vendre, Deus mandará sobre ele o ardor de sua ira, e [a] choverá sobre ele em sua comida.
When he is about to fill his belly, he will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
24 [Ainda que] fuja das armas de ferro, o arco de bronze o atravessará.
He shall flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow shall strike him through.
25 Ele a tirará de [seu] corpo, e a ponta brilhante atingirá seu fígado; haverá sobre ele assombros.
He draws it forth, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
26 Todas as trevas estão reservadas para seus tesouros escondidos; um fogo não assoprado o consumirá; acabará com o que restar em sua tenda.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire shall devour him. It shall consume that which is left in his tent.
27 Os céus revelarão sua maldade, e a terra se levantará contra ele.
The heavens shall reveal his iniquity. The earth shall rise up against him.
28 As riquezas de sua casa serão transportadas; nos dias de sua ira elas se derramarão.
The increase of his house shall depart. They shall rush away in the day of his wrath.
29 Esta é a parte que Deus dá ao homem perverso, a herança que Deus lhe prepara.
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God."
