1 Minha alma está cansada de minha vida. Darei liberdade à minha queixa sobre mim; falarei com amargura de minha alma.
My soul is weary of my life: I will give free course to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
2 Direi a Deus: Não me condenes; faz-me saber por que brigas comigo.
I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou strivest with me.
3 [Parece] -te bem que [me] oprimas, que rejeites o trabalho de tuas mãos, e favoreças o conselho dos perversos?
Doth it please thee to oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thy hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
4 Tens tu olhos de carne? Vês tu como o ser humano vê?
Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?
5 São teus dias como os dias do ser humano, ou teus anos como os anos do homem,
Are thy days as the days of a mortal? are thy years as a man's days,
6 Para que investigues minha perversidade, e pesquises meu pecado?
That thou searchest after mine iniquity, and inquirest into my sin;
7 Tu sabes que eu não sou mau; todavia ninguém há que [me] livre de tua mão.
Since thou knowest that I am not wicked, and that there is none that delivereth out of thy hand?
8 Tuas mãos me fizeram e me formaram por completo; porém agora tu me destróis.
Thy hands have bound me together and made me as one, round about; yet dost thou swallow me up!
9 Por favor, lembra-te que me preparaste como o barro; e me farás voltar ao pó da terra.
Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as clay, and wilt bring me into dust again.
10 Por acaso não me derramaste como o leite, e como o queijo me coalhaste?
Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?
11 De pele e carne tu me vestiste; e de ossos e nervos tu me teceste.
Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews;
12 Vida e misericórdia me concedeste, e teu cuidado guardou meu espírito.
Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy care hath preserved my spirit;
13 Porém estas coisas escondeste em teu coração; eu sei que isto esteve contigo:
And these things didst thou hide in thy heart; I know that this was with thee.
14 Se eu pecar, tu me observarás, e não absolverás minha culpa.
If I sinned, thou wouldest mark me, and thou wouldest not acquit me of mine iniquity.
15 Se eu for perverso, ai de mim! Mesmo se eu for justo, não levantarei minha cabeça; estou farto de desonra, e de ver minha aflição.
If I were wicked, woe unto me! and righteous, I will not lift up my head, being [so] full of shame, and beholding mine affliction; —
16 Se [minha cabeça] se exaltar, tu me caças como um leão feroz, e voltas a fazer em coisas extraordinárias contra mim.
And it increaseth: thou huntest me as a fierce lion; and ever again thou shewest thy marvellous power upon me.
17 Renovas tuas testemunhas contra mim, e multiplicas tua ira sobre mim; combates vêm sucessivamente contra mim.
Thou renewest thy witnesses before me and increasest thy displeasure against me; successions [of evil] and a time of toil are with me.
18 Por que me tiraste da madre? [Bom seria] se eu não tivesse respirado, e nenhum olho me visse!
And wherefore didst thou bring me forth out of the womb? I had expired, and no eye had seen me.
19 Teria sido como se nunca tivesse existido, e desde o ventre [materno] seria levado à sepultura.
I should be as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
20 Por acaso não são poucos os meus dias? Cessa [pois] e deixa-me, para que eu tenha um pouco de alívio,
Are not my days few? cease then and let me alone, that I may revive a little,
21 Antes que eu me vá para não voltar, à terra da escuridão e da sombra de morte;
Before I go, and never to return, — to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
22 Terra escura ao extremo, tenebrosa, sombra de morte, sem ordem alguma, onde a luz é como a escuridão.
A land of gloom, as darkness itself; of the shadow of death, without any order, where the light is as thick darkness.
