Tiago 1
1 Tiago, servo de Deus e do Senhor Jesus Cristo, às doze tribos que [estão] na dispersão, saudações!
James, a servant of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes that are in the dispersion, greeting.
2 Meus irmãos, tende toda alegria quando vos encontrardes em várias provações,
My brethren, count it all joy, when you fall into manifold trials,
3 sabendo que a prova da vossa fé produz perseverança.
knowing that the trial of your faith produces patience.
4 E que a perseverança tenha uma realização completa, para que sejais completos e íntegros, faltando em nada.
But let patience have its work perfected, that you may be perfect and faultless, wanting in nothing.
5 Se algum de vós tem falta de sabedoria, peça a Deus, que concede generosamente a todos sem repreender, e lhe será dada.
Now, if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.
6 Porém deves pedi-la em fé, duvidando em nada; pois quem duvida é semelhante à onda do mar que é levada pelo vento, e lançada.
But let him ask in faith, doubting not: for he that doubts, is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind, and tossed.
7 Tal pessoa não pense que receberá algo do Senhor.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing from the Lord.
8 O homem de dupla mentalidade [é] inconstante em todos os seus caminhos.
A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Mas o irmão que é humilde se orgulhe quando é exaltado,
Let the brother that is in a lowly condition, glory in his exaltation:
10 e o que é rico quando é abatido, porque ele passará como a flor da erva.
but he that is rich, in his humiliation; because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 Pois o sol sai com ardor, então seca a erva, a sua flor cai, e a beleza do seu aspecto perece; assim também o rico murchará nos seus caminhos.
For the sun rises with its burning heat, and withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beauty of its form perishes. So, also, shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Bendito é o homem que suporta a provação; pois, quando for aprovado, receberá a coroa da vida, que [o Senhor] prometeu aos que o amam.
Blessed is the man that endures trial: for, being approved, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 Ninguém, quando for tentado, diga: “Sou tentado por Deus”; porque Deus não é tentado pelo mal, e ele mesmo tenta ninguém;
Let no one say, when he is tempted, My temptation is from God; for God can not be tempted by evils, and he himself tempts no man.
14 Mas cada um é tentado quando é atraído e seduzido pelo seu próprio mau desejo.
But every one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desire, and is deluded.
15 Depois do mau desejo ter concebido, dá à luz o pecado; e o pecado, quando é completado, gera a morte.
So, then, desire, when it has conceived, brings forth sin; and sin, when it is matured, brings forth death.
16 Não vos enganeis, meus amados irmãos.
Be not deceived, my beloved brethren;
17 Toda boa dádiva e todo dom perfeito vem do alto, e desce do Pai das luzes, em quem não há mudança nem sombra de variação.
every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor slightest trace of turning.
18 Conforme a sua própria vontade, ele nos gerou pela palavra da verdade, para que fôssemos os primeiros frutos dentre as suas criaturas.
Of his own will, he begot us with the word of truth, in order that we might be, as it were, the first-fruits of his creatures.
19 Entendei [isso], meus amados irmãos. Mas toda pessoa seja pronta para ouvir, tardia para falar, tardia para se irar;
So, then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
20 porque a ira humana não cumpre a justiça de Deus.
For the wrath of man produces not the righteousness of God.
21 Por isso, rejeitai toda impureza e abundância de malícia, e recebei com mansidão a palavra implantada em [vós], que pode salvar as vossas almas;
Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness, and every excess caused by malice, receive with meekness the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 e sede praticantes da palavra, e não somente ouvintes, enganando a vós mesmos.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 Pois, se alguém é ouvinte da palavra e não praticante, esse é semelhante a um homem que observa num espelho o seu rosto natural;
For if any one is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man that looks at his natural face in a mirror:
24 porque observou a si mesmo e saiu, e logo se esqueceu de como era.
for he looks at himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what sort of person he is.
25 Mas aquele que dá atenção à lei perfeita, a da liberdade, e [nela] persevera, não sendo ouvinte que esquece, mas sim praticante da obra, esse tal será bendito no que fizer.
But he that looks intently into the perfect law of liberty, and remains constant, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, he shall be blessed in his deed.
26 Se alguém pensa ser religioso, mas não controla a sua língua, então engana o seu próprio coração, e a religião desse é vã.
If any one among you seems to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
27 A religião pura e não contaminada para com Deus e Pai é esta: visitar os órfãos e as viúvas nas suas aflições, e guardar-se sem a corrupção do mundo.
Religion, pure and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
