Isaías 44
1 Agora, pois, ouve, ó Jacó, meu servo; tu, ó Israel, a quem escolhi.
Yet now hear, O Jacob, my servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen;
2 Assim diz o SENHOR, aquele que te fez, e te formou desde o ventre, que te socorre: não temas, ó Jacó, meu servo; tu Jesurum, a quem escolhi.
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Creator, He that formed thee, and hath helped thee from thy birth, Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, O Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 Porque derramarei água sobre o sedento, e rios sobre a terra seca; derramarei meu Espírito sobre tua semente, e minha bênção sobre teus descendentes;
For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, And streams upon the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit on thy children, And my blessing on thine offspring;
4 E brotarão entre a erva, como salgueiros junto a ribeiros de águas.
And they shall grow up, as among grass; As willows by the water-brooks.
5 Um dirá: Eu sou do SENHOR; e outro se chamará pelo nome de Jacó; e um [terceiro] escreverá [em] sua mão: Eu sou do SENHOR, e tomará para si o nome de Israel.
One shall say, “I belong to Jehovah”; Another shall call upon the name of Jacob; Another shall write upon his hand, Jehovah's! And praise the name of Israel.
6 Assim diz o SENHOR, Rei de Israel, e seu Redentor, o SENHOR dos exércitos: Eu sou o primeiro, e sou o último; e além de mim não há Deus.
Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, His redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I the last, And besides me there is no God.
7 Quem, como eu, anunciará isto? Que declare e explique para mim, visto que determinei um povo eterno! Anunciem-lhes as coisas futuras, as que estão para vir!
Who like me hath proclaimed the future, —Let him declare it, and set it in order before me!— Since I established the people of old? Let them make known the future, even that which is to come!
8 Não vos assombreis, nem temais; por acaso eu não vos contei e anunciei com antecedência? Pois vós sois minhas testemunhas. Por acaso há outro Deus além de mim? Não há outra Rocha, não que eu conheça.
Fear ye not, neither be ye afraid! Have I not declared and made it known to you of old? Ye are my witnesses; Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no other rock; I know not any.
9 Todos os que formam imagens de escultura são nada, e as coisas que eles se agradam são de nenhum proveito; e elas mesmas são suas testemunhas: nada veem, nem entendem; por isso serão envergonhados.
They that make a graven image are all of them vanity, And their valued works are profitable for nothing; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor understand, So that they may be ashamed.
10 Quem é que forma um deus e funde uma imagem de escultura que não lhe tem proveito algum?
Who hath formed a god, And cast a graven image, that is profitable for nothing?
11 Eis que todos os companheiros dele serão envergonhados, pois os artífices nada são além de homens. Ajuntem-se todos, [e] fiquem de pé; eles se assombrarão, e juntamente serão envergonhados.
Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed; The workmen are themselves mortal men; They shall all be assembled; they shall stand up; They shall tremble, and be put to shame together!
12 O ferreiro, [com] a ferramenta de corte, trabalha nas brasas, e forma [o ídolo] com martelos; e ele o faz com a força de seu braço; ele, porém, tem fome e perde as forças, e [se] não beber água, desfalece.
The smith prepareth an axe in the coals, And fashioneth it with hammers, And worketh it with his strong arm; He becometh hungry, and his strength faileth; He drinketh no water, and is faint.
13 O carpinteiro estende a linha de medir, [e] o desenha com um marcador; ele o confecciona com formões, e o desenha com um compasso; e o faz à semelhança de um homem, conforme a beleza humana, para habitar numa casa.
The carpenter stretcheth out the line; He marketh out the form of it with the sharp tool; He formeth it with planes; He marketh it with the compass; He maketh it in the figure of a man, With the beauty of a man, To dwell in a house.
14 Ele corta para si cedros, e toma um cipreste ou um carvalho, e reserva para si das árvores da floresta; ele planta um pinheiro, e a chuva [o] faz crescer.
He heweth him down cedars; He taketh the ilex and the oak; He chooseth for himself among the trees of the forest; He planteth the ash, and the rain matureth it;
15 Então [tal madeira] servirá ao homem para queimar, e toma parte deles para se aquecer, e os acende, e aquece o pão; ele também faz um deus, e o adora; fabrica dela uma imagem de escultura, e se prostra diante dela.
These are fuel for man; He taketh thereof and warmeth himself; He kindleth with it, and baketh bread; A god also he formeth of it, and worshippeth it; A graven image, and falleth down before it.
16 Sua metade ele queima no fogo; com a [outra] metade como carne; prepara assado, e [dele] se sacia; também se esquenta, e diz: Ah! Já me aqueci! Já vi o fogo!
Half of it he burneth with fire; With half of it he eateth flesh; He roasteth meat, and satisfieth himself; He also warmeth himself, and saith, Aha! I am warm; I feel the fire.
17 Então do resto ele faz um deus, para imagem de escultura para si; ele se ajoelha a ela, e a adora, e ora a ela, e diz: Livra-me, pois tu és meu deus.
Of the residue he maketh a god, even his graven image; He falleth down before it and worshippeth it, And prayeth to it, and saith, “Deliver me, for thou art my God!”
18 Eles nada sabem, nem entendem; porque seus olhos foram encobertos para que não vejam; [e] seus corações, para que não entendam.
They know not, neither understand; For their eyes are closed up, that they cannot see, And their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19 E nenhum deles pensa [sobre isso] em seu coração, e não tem conhecimento nem entendimento para dizer: A metade queimei no fogo; e aqueci pão sobre suas brasas; assei carne, e a comi; e faria eu do resto uma abominação? Prostraria eu ao que saiu de uma árvore?
None considereth in his mind, Or hath knowledge and understanding to say: “Half of it I have burned with fire; I have also baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and have eaten; And shall I make the remnant an abomination? Shall I fall down before the stock of a tree?”
20 Ele se alimenta de cinzas; [seu] coração enganado o desviou, de modo que ele já não pode livrar a sua alma, nem dizer: Por acaso não é uma mentira [o que há] na minha mão direita?
He toileth for ashes; A deluded heart turneth him aside, So that he cannot deliver himself, and say “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
21 Lembra-te destas coisas, ó Jacó e Israel, pois tu és meu servo; eu te formei. Meu servo és, ó Israel; eu não me esquecerei de ti.
Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for thou art my servant! I formed thee; thou art my servant; O Israel, I will not forget thee.
22 Eu elimino tuas transgressões como a névoa, e teus pecados como a nuvem; volta a mim, pois eu já te resgatei.
I have caused thy transgressions to vanish like a cloud, And thy sins like a mist; Return to me, for I have redeemed thee!
23 Cantai louvores, vós céus, porque o SENHOR [assim] fez; gritai de alegria, vós partes baixas da terra; vós montes, fazei ruídos de júbilo, [também] vós bosques, e todas as árvores neles; porque o SENHOR regatou a Jacó, e glorificou a si mesmo em Israel.
Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; Shout, O ye depths of the earth! Break forth into song, ye mountains! Thou forest, and every tree therein! For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And glorified himself in Israel.
24 Assim diz o SENHOR, o teu redentor, aquele que te formou desde o ventre: Eu sou o SENHOR que tudo faço; que sozinho estico os céus, e que estendo a terra por mim mesmo;
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, Even he that formed thee from the womb; I am Jehovah, who made all things; Who stretched out the heavens alone; Who spread out the earth by myself;
25 Que desfaço os sinais dos inventores de mentiras, e faço de todos aos adivinhos; que faço aos sábios retrocederem, e torno o conhecimento deles em loucura;
Who frustrateth the signs of deceivers, And maketh the diviners mad; Who putteth the wise men to shame, And maketh their knowledge folly;
26 [Sou aquele] que confirma a palavra de seu servo, e cumpre o conselho de seus mensageiros; que diz a Jerusalém: Tu serás habitada; E às cidades de Judá: Sereis reconstruídas; e eu erguerei seus lugares arruinados.
Who establisheth the word of his servant, And performeth the purpose of his messengers; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be inhabited,” And of the cities of Judah, “They shall be built,” And, “Her desolated places I will restore.”
27 Que diz à profundeza: Seca-te; e eu secarei teus rios.
Who saith to the deep, “Be dry! I will dry up thy streams!”
28 Que diz de Ciro: Ele é meu pastor, e cumprirá toda a minha vontade, dizendo à Jerusalém: Serás edificada; e ao Templo: Terás posto teu fundamento.
Who saith of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd; He shall perform all my pleasure”; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be built,” And of the temple, “Her foundation shall be laid.”
