Isaías 42
1 Eis aqui meu servo, a quem sustento; meu escolhido, [em quem] minha alma se agrada. Sobre ele eu pus o meu Espírito; ele trará justiça às nações.
Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 Ele não gritará, nem levantará [seu clamor]; ele não fará ouvir sua voz nas ruas.
He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.
3 A cana rachada ele não quebrará, nem apagará o pavio que fumega; com a verdade ele trará justiça.
The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 Ele não fraquejará, nem será esmagado, até que ponha a justiça na terra; e os litorais esperarão a sua doutrina.
He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.
5 Assim diz Deus, o SENHOR, que criou os céus, e os esticou; estendeu a terra, e a tudo quanto ela produz; que dá respiração ao povo que nela [habita], e espírito aos que nela andam.
Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.
6 Eu, o SENHOR, te chamei em justiça, e te tomarei pela mão. E eu te guardarei, e te darei como pacto para o povo e luz para as nações;
I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:
7 Para abrir os olhos cegos, para tirar da prisão os presos, [tirar] do cárcere os que habitam em trevas.
That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 Eu, EU-SOU; este é o meu nome! Não darei a minha glória a outro, nem o meu louvor às imagens de escultura.
I the Lord, this is my name: I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things.
9 Eis que as coisas anteriores já aconteceram; e as novas eu [vos] anuncio; e antes que surjam, [delas] eu vos informo.
The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you head them.
10 Cantai ao SENHOR um cântico novo, um louvor a ele desde o limite da terra; vós que navegais pelo mar, e tudo quanto nele há; vós terras do litoral e seus moradores.
Sing ye to the Lora a new song, his praise is from the ends of the earth: you that go down to the sea, and all that are therein: ye islands, and ye inhabitants of them.
11 Levantem [a voz] o deserto e suas cidades, com as aldeias que Quedar habita; cantem os que habitam nas rochas, [e] gritem de alegria do cume dos montes.
Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses: ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise, they shall cry from the top of the mountains.
12 Deem glória ao SENHOR, e anunciem louvor a ele nas terras do litoral.
They shall give glory to the Lord, and shall declare his praise in the islands.
13 O SENHOR sairá como guerreiro, como homem de guerra despertará o [seu] zelo; ele gritará, e fará grade ruído; e dominará a seus inimigos.
The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall he stir up zeal: he shall shout and cry: he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 Por muito tempo fiquei calado, quieto estive, [e] me retive; [mas agora] darei gritos como a que está de parto, suspirando e juntamente ofegando.
I have always held my peace, I have I kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour: I will destroy, and swallow up at once.
15 Aos montes e morros tornarei em deserto, e toda sua erva farei secar; e tornarei aos rios em ilhas, e as lagoas secarei.
I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.
16 E guiarei aos cegos por um caminho que nunca conheceram; eu os farei caminhar pelas veredas que não conheciam; tornarei as trevas em luz perante eles, e as coisas tortas [farei] direitas; estas coisas lhes farei, e nunca os desampararei.
And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not: and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight: these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them.
17 [Mas] serão conduzidos para trás e se envergonharão os que confiam em imagens de escultura, [e] dizem às imagens de fundição: Vós sois nossos deuses.
They are turned back: let them be greatly confounded, that trust in a graven thing, that say to a molten thing: You are our god.
18 Surdos, ouvi; e vós cegos, olhai para que possais ver.
Hear, ye deaf, and, ye blind, behold that you may see.
19 Quem é cego, senão o meu servo? Ou surdo, como o meu mensageiro, a quem envio? Quem é cego como o aliançado, e cego como o servo do SENHOR?
Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, but he to whom I have sent my messengers? Who is blind, but he that is sold? or who is blind, but the servant of the Lord?
20 Tu vês muitas coisas, porém não as guardas; mesmo abrindo os ouvidos, contudo nada ouve.
Thou that seest many things, wilt thou not observe them? thou that hast ears open, wilt thou not hear?
21 O SENHOR se agradou, por causa de sua justiça, em engrandecer [sua] lei, e em fazê [-la] gloriosa.
And the Lord was willing to sanctify him, and to magnify the law, and exalt it.
22 Mas [este] é um povo roubado e saqueado; todos estão enlaçados em covas, e escondidos em cárceres; são postos como despojos, e ninguém há que os resgate; estão como [objetos] de roubo, e ninguém diz “Restitui [-os]”.
But this is a people that is robbed and wasted: they are all the snare of young men, and they are hid in the houses of prisons: they are made a prey, and there is none to deliver them: a spoil, and there is none that saith: Restore.
23 Quem dentre vós dá ouvidos a isto? [Quem] presta atenção e ouve o que há de ser no futuro?
Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?
24 Quem entregou a Jacó como roubo, e a Israel a ladrões? Por acaso não foi o SENHOR, aquele contra quem pecamos? Pois não queriam andar em seus caminhos, e não deram ouvidos à sua lei.
Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.
25 Por isso ele derramou sobre eles o furor de sua ira, e a força da guerra; e os pôs em labaredas ao redor; porém [ainda assim] não entenderam; e ele os pôs para queimar, porém [ainda assim] não puseram [nisso] o coração.
And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle, and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.
